A classic tale of things aren't always as they seem. In the age of social media, when people's lives appear perfect, this story comes at the perfect time. It will make you laugh and maybe even tear up. This book is just plain FUN.

That's What Frenemies Are For is a refreshing, witty read perfect for this summer! It follows Julia as she tries to compete and keep up with the other upper class moms in her NYC circle. There were a ton of twists and turns and some definite laugh out loud moments. This is different from what I usually read (contemporary romance) but I really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone!

The whole time I was reading this book I wanted to slap some sense into Julia! It was evident that Tatum was taking advantage of her to get where/what she wanted in the Upper East Side but poor Julia! I enjoyed reading this book and seeing the human side of Julia which made me truly root for a happy ending for her!

I was all ready for a laugh out loud story about a well to-do upper east side mom and her new best friend, her spin instructor. Boy was I wrong! This story had bit of humor but was more heavy on the dramedy. The main character tries to stay relevant with all her "friends" at the elementary school and thinks by befriending a out of luck spin instructor and molding her into the next best thing, her status as one of the top dogs will remain. The story definitely shows the fickleness of friends and really who your real ones are.

Thanks for the opportunity to read and review! I loved this book. It was a look into the lives of the rich and elegant and a view of the struggles they have despite having it all. I loved the main character James and was glad that my suspicions of him proved untrue! I am looking forward to more books from these authors.

Bad news: a pipe burst at the beach house. Julia and her family are stuck in the city for the summer while all their friends run off to the Hamptons without them. Julia is devastated until she finds Flame, a new local spin studio, and meets Tatum, her new project. As their friendship grows, Julia’s waste shrinks and she takes Tatum under her wing to help her become a star. A star founded by Julia of course, how else will she show off to her new friends when everyone returns in the fall? This go awry when Tatum starts to push her way into Julia’s life, while not so slowly pushing Julia out of it.

Man this book. You know when you’re reading a thriller and you know the “bad guy” is a psycho manipulative killer and you just want to scream while he/she manipulates the “good guy?” That’s how I felt about this book. It’s like a severe car accident-it makes you feel sad and sick, yet you can’t look away. The women in this book were absolutely awful to each other. I really disliked Julia in the beginning, but as the book went on I started to feel for her. It’s amazing what women in that kind of social circle deal with. I know one thing for sure…I never want to be a Manhattan socialite.

One aspect of a life of privilege means friends are fickle; they can become your enemies more quickly than they became your friends. Julia as always enjoyed a life of luxury that includes power in her world of private school mommies, charities, and the Manhattan social scene, which all comes crashing down when structural damage to her Hamptons home causes her to miss the summer "season." No longer in center of her social circle, Julia finds a protege who she intends to use to raise her social status as her friends return in the fall. What Julia does not count on is Tatum's own ambition and determination to be accepted in the Julia's circle of friends. As often happens in a circle of friends, when one is added, another is surreptitiously removed.

Fun read for those of us on the outside of the wealthy elite, allowing us to bask in the gleeful and smug belief that monied families live behind a social veneer that is as temporary as last year's fashion.

This was such a fun book that I could not put down. I became so invested in the characters that I was at the lies, deceit, and manipulation that Julia faced. As a middle-class surburban mom, I am so far removed from the elite, catty, competitive lifestyle of mothers in NYC, but it was very fun to read.

It's the perfect summer read - and such a refreshing, witty, wild plot that had me reading all night! I highly recommend.

This book was a whirlwind of humor and chaos and I loved every minute of it. Sometimes you just need a fun read, and this is it in spades!

I am torn in my feelings for this book. On one hand it was fun and entertaining, but on the other it was a bit shallow and incredibly frustrating. I didn't love the main character and had trouble connecting to her, which was a big part of the reason I am torn. Overall, it was an ok read, but not outstanding.

This book was so entertaining! I thoroughly enjoyed the cut-throat world of the Upper East Side. Everyone was so savage, and I found myself rooting for the main character despite some of her horrible, materialistic flaws. She totally belonged in this upper-crust society but was grounded just enough for me to hope she would succumb to her hubris and learn a valuable lesson in what's really important in this life. And she did! I loved to hate each character and enjoyed living inside their world for a minute. This was a quick, fun read. I gave this book a 4 for the genre that it was meant for. It wasn't a very thought-provoking piece of literature, but it ended with a nice message. I would definitely recommend this one for the beach.

Julia lives in NYC, in the scene with the house, the kids, the successful husband, but it isn't quite enough. She starts to befriend Tatum, a spin instruction, who Julia thinks can help revive her status. This book is full of deceit, laughter, and a reminder of what is important.

Overall I liked this book. I felt like it was a little long for a chick lit story and it took me a bit to really feel invested. But once the story got going I was hooked. I found the characters to be relatable and I wound up staying up a little later than intended several times just to see what happened next. Definitely a great poolside read for summer!

This was a great summer read for me! I finished it in about 3 nights and it was just what I was looking for in the midst of all the suspense and thriller books I have been reading. It reminded me of an adult version of "Gossip Girl" complete with NYC as the backdrop, too much money, a makeover and everything turning upside down for our heroine! Gave me some good laughs and was just a fun read. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was unable to finish this book and thus will not be posting a full review of this on my blog. I found this painful to read - it was vapid, it was trite. I know this was largely the point but it did not feel unique to other homes discussing wealthy people, particularly women, in New York. The character were all universally unlikeable. Thank you for the opportunity.

Julie Summers is a tough character to like, but then you find yourself sticking up for her. She goes round and round with being a good person, to using someone, to being angry someone is using her, to being a good person again. It's hard to love her, but you deeply care about her life and how she will get out of the mess she has created. I enjoyed reading about her high society life in the Upper East Side. I read on a kindle and accidentally skipped toward the end, without realizing it. I switched back to my place and really couldn't wait to get to the ending so I could see where it came together. It was really good. It's like juicy gossip you don't want involved in, but you want to know how it ends. It's like checking social media where one of your high school friends is posting about a relationship gone bad, but you know they will be all lovey dovey again in a few days. It's like a train wreck you just can't stop looking at. I highly recommend this as a fun fictional read.

Seeing an opportunity to fix her problems, at the school’s auction, she bids on a basket for a membership at a new gym with private spinning lessons. She decides to make the trainer her new project while elevating her NYC PTA mom status. Will she succeed? The relationship between the moms is catty, realistic, and humorous. The plot is entertaining and keeps you guessing how it will end. Fans of Sophie Kinsella will have a hard time putting this one down.
