This is a feel-good story. Perfect for the Christmas holiday. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t read it any other time though. You know how sometimes it is easier to just close yourself off from others rather than try to explain? Both Stephanie and Zach have this problem. Keeps you from getting hurt doesn’t it? But this isn’t your everyday story. This is a story about a female firefighter and a veteran.

It’s a good story with some action and while romance is not my usual genre, this is not any kind of explicit romance. Romance is the side plot of this story. There’s plenty more of story to read and characters you’ll like, both good and bad.

I won’t tell you this is a heavy, complex book. It isn’t. But as I said it’s a story to enjoy and make you feel good and hope that things turn out your way.

A well written fast paced story with enough drama and action to keep you turning the pages. A military man returns hope searching for himself and the love he is missing from his life. With lots of turns along the way he reaches his HEA. This was my first book by June Faver but it definitely won't be the last.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Zach is just back from the war.
For now, he is living with his uncle Big Jim.
Stephanie is a firefighter and an EMT.
The holidays are approaching, and these 2 are single.
I think that we all can do the math.
Will these 2 give love a chance ?
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book

A Cowboy Christmas Homecoming by June Faver is a Dark Horse Cowboys novel and a beautiful love story between Zach Garrett, a newly discharged soldier and Stephanie Gayle a local firefighting badass. Zach's father had died while he was overseas and his mother, overwhelmed, sold the ranch Zach had always thought would be his. Stephanie had rescued two children from a fire after their stepfather, right in front of them, had murdered their mother. Not really a match made in heaven, or is it? Stephanie really wants to adopt these two kids and Zach really wants to stop the nightmares and get back on his feet. What does he have to offer? Not much, or so he thinks. Big Jim Garrett is his uncle, a second father to him, who lives on his ranch with his three sons, Zach's cousins, all of whom are ready to welcome him back into the family.

A heartbreaking portrayal of PTSD and how difficult it is for a soldier to come home. Zach is likable and an all-around decent guy who has been through a lot. His character is one the reader takes to immediately and roots for the entire way. Stephanie has worked so hard to prove she's a good a firefighter as the guys at the department, that it is difficult for her to let loose and be a human, plus the reality of trying to adopt as a single woman with a dangerous career. She is tired and frustrated. What else can go wrong? Well, she soon finds out, but a lot goes right, as well. I gripping novel exploring aspects of real life that many readers will be unfamiliar with. I enjoyed it. I think you will, too. I recommend it.

Cowboy Christmas Homecoming by June Faver
Dark Horse Cowboys #4

Zach and Stephanie meet and the rest of the book tells how they end up with their HEA. Zach is back from the war and the ranch he thought would be his was sold by his mother so he is at is uncle’s ranch instead. Stephanie is a firefighter and has her eye on two orphans that need her. There is a bad guy out to do Stephanie wrong but Zach usually shows up in the nick of time to save her. There is a dance. There are some firefighting scenes. The bad guys show up a few times and are thwarted. People from past books I had not read make appearances. A special surprise arrives for Zach. The two eventually end up together and ride off into the sunset...well...maybe after they say their vows.

This book seemed formulaic to me. I didn’t feel any real pull between the two main characters and felt the story was rather placid with one plot idea following another without really drawing me in. There wasn’t anything wrong with the characters or their story but there wasn’t anything special about them or their romance either.

Did I enjoy this book? Not so much
Would I read more in this series? No

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC – This is my honest review.

2-3 Stars

Cowboy Christmas Homecoming is the fourth book in the Dark Horse Cowboy series. And introduces cousin Zach, a soldier who comes back to Langston, a shell of the man he used to be, mourning the passing of his father and the only home he has ever known. And whilst it was an enjoyable, festive story. That delivered moments of mystery and suspense. It was also a little predictable and honestly the romance didn't really excite me. Still, there's no denying it was engaging and heartwarming to read. Plus, it was packed full of compassionate, likable characters and it certainly left me with a nice warm feeling when it was over. Which is why I would recommend it to others, especially if you've enjoyed the previous books in this series.

This was another great read in this amazing series. The storyline flowed seamlessly in this well written story about finding love, hope and family. Zach and Stephanie were endearing characters with great chemistry. I also loved catching up with the wonderful characters from the previous books. I have read and loved all of the books in this series and I hope there are many more . I would definitely recommend this book and this amazing series.

Part of the series, Dark Horse Cowboys of the Garrett brothers, this time we are introduced to the cousin that grew up with them, Zack Garrett.
He’s back from serving his country as an Army Ranger, thinking the family ranch would be his to run. But his mother sold it, and Zack is now staying with the Garrett clan.
In the midst of dealing with his return to civilian life and working with his uncle Big Jim, he meets Stephanie Gale.
She’s an EMT and firefighter who saved a couple of young kids after their mother was killed. She wants to adopt the children but is hope and the man she sent to prison has escaped and is after her.
While the story was most of the time engaging, there were times the dialogue was stilled and not really adding to the plot.
Zack was a more likable character than Stephanie and the bad guys did bring some action to the story.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Sourcebooks. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Cowboy Christmas Homecoming, is a feel good Christmas novel. If you read the books that came before this one in the series, then you'll love reconnecting with those characters. I don't think you have to read those first, but it sure did help.

This is probably my favourite story of the series to date, and while it was definitely predictable in parts, the story was engaging and an enjoyable read. Zane and Stephanie made an intriguing couple and their relationship was depicted with just the right amount of angst and drama. A wonderful festive romance that leaves the reader feeling all I can be right with the world. My only criticism of this book is that the author tends to do a lot of recapping (obviously for those who haven’t read the previous books of the series) and this gets old fast. That aside, it’s a nice read.

This is a great Christmas Goodness story! I really enjoyed reading it, coming back to Big Jim Garrett's brood of sons and a nephew that's like his son.
Zach comes back troubled and when he meets Stephanie, he feels calmer. She is a firefighter, so a totally rocking heroine, but has big troubles of her own.
Some of the story was a bit predictable, and some I never saw coming. This family has the biggest hearts and when danger comes, they're there, front and center. A lot of emotions will hit you, so be prepared to feel everything.

A pleasant story set around a close ranching family, a former Army Ranger, and a female firefighter.

Zach is part of the Garrett ranching family, but in the 10 years he was an Army Ranger his Father died and his Mother got into financial trouble and sold the ranch that he expected to come home to. So on his return to civilian life he went to stay with his uncle, Big Jim Garrett, and his cousins at their thriving ranch.

He did feel quite sorry for himself initially, but soon got caught up in working on the Garrett ranch, and when he met Steph, the female firefighter, his life took on new meaning.

There was an underlying story of a guy who was terrorising Steph, after she saved two children, but failed to save their Mother after their Father killed her and escaped. The Father and his brothers were sending her threats as one of the young children gave a statement that his Father killed his Mother, and Steph was very involved with the children and trying to adopt them.

I liked the story, but for some reason just couldn't get involved in their lives, it all felt a bit rushed for me really. Steph and Zach went on two dates and then they moved in with each other. I felt it jumped around a bit with the characters, but then didn't really go anywhere. I was looking forward to the 'lost army dog' story but that wasn't until near the end. So a nice, easy reading story, but just missing a certain something that I couldn't quite put my finger on for me.

COWBOY CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING by June Faber is truly a Happy reunion at the ranch with one of my favorite families! This story focus was cousin Zach (returning Veteran) and firefighter Stephanie. The story also caught up with Big Jim, Ty and Colt's families. I did miss hearing about Beau and his family, especially since it's Christmas. This story was all about family with some suspense thrown in!

Great book! I want to read the other stories of the family members! It was a great Christmas book full of hope and family, with a mystery thrown in there! A great light read for the Christmas time or anytime.

Part of a larger series of hunky cowboys and their intrepid women, Cowboy Christmas Homecoming is a heartwarming and sexy Christmas love story. It can easily be read as a standalone. Zach is a returning warrior and Stephanie is a firefighter. As Christmas approaches her life is a series of electrifying action. Zach is trying to find a place in civilian, and Stephanie’s, life.

I would recommend this in book circles.

This is an enjoyable quick read. I say quick as I read it in a 2 days, couldn't put it down even though the story line is slightly predictable. It is a good guilty pleasures read without being constant filth throughout making it safe for reading in public places if you so wish!

Leaves you feeling happy and content, its a perfect holiday read or me time read curled up on the couch with a blanket and a wine.

Cons: to start off there are a lot of character names so hard to follow who is who, thankfully the author re-caps regularly who they are, which gets a little bit annoying half way through, but it very helpful at the start.

Coming home from the combat zone isn't easy for Zech. Nightmares plague him. He goes to his uncle's ranch to get his head back on straight. Then he meets local firefighter Stephanie. Romance begins to blossom.
I love that there's not a lot of drama going on between them. Good read, can be read as a stand alone book.

Loved the book, it’s cute, sweet and heartwarming as well as a bit of suspense and action is intertwined in Stephanie’s story. This book also touched on some relatable and hard topics such as PTSD and men returning home after deployment to big, big changes in the lives of everyone they know. Great read!
