Christmas Kisses & Puppies Wishes…

Lila is a lovely heroine, even if she seems a little quirky. Lila and her sisters opened a service animal service, in where they match and train the animals with child that have special needs. Lila was the serious sister, the one who took care of everything. Lila that there is some people who like her quirkiness, but can she trust her heart?

Ford single dad who is trying to make life simple for him and his daughter. Ford’s a wonderful dad and a delightful flirt. Ford is trying to help his daughter adjust in the world with her challenge, but what Ford was not prepared for was a grown princess to charm him.

Lila and Ford are sexy together. They both have some major issues about themselves, but can helping Emily bring them together or will their indifference keep hem a part?

Emily is a charmer for sure, this little one wants her daddy happy and if he gets to be happy with a princess all the better. There are a few missteps along the way as is with every love story. The neighborhood vixens were a delightful touch, who could really expect them all to behave in Ford Fords presence.

Puppy Christmas was a absolute charmer, This is my first Lucy Gilmore and I can promise it will not be my last.

Puppy Christmas, the second book in Lucy Gilmore's Forever Home series, is an adorable story filled with plenty of emotion and scenes that had me laughing out loud. It's the first I've read by Gilmore, and I really enjoyed it.

Ford Ford (oh, that name!) is a charming, single dad raising his precocious daughter, Emily, who has a hearing disability. His personal life has been on hold and, while he flirts with and makes the single ladies laugh, he doesn't feel able to offer them anything else.

"Once upon a time he'd had suavity. Heaps of it, in fact. But it had long since been buried under stale Cheerios and lost sippy cup lids."

Lila Vasquez runs Puppies Promise, a service puppy training school, with her sisters. She is unflappable, responsible and wasn't a woman who normally "sparkled." Her inner princess comes out when she attends a fundraiser for the hearing services community, for which she has donated a service dog and training. Lila meets and connects with Emily and Ford, who are each fascinated with Lila.

"This sort of thing might be ordinary for you, but we don't run into beautiful princesses every day."

When Emily is chosen as the recipient of the service dog, Lila must handle her attraction to Ford while building a relationship with Emily and teaching her about her puppy. She is pulled out of her comfort zone when Emily wants her to be her friend, and Ford asks her to be his fake girlfriend as a buffer against the neighborhood ladies.

Gilmore develops true-to-life, down-to-earth characters, and her writing style will keep you turning the pages. Even though it is the second in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. I definitely look forward to reading more from this series.

Lila Vasquez might not be the "fun one" at Puppy Promise—the service puppy training school she runs with her sisters—but she can always be counted on to gets things done. So when her latest client shows an interest in princess gowns over power suits, Lila puts aside her scruples, straps on the glittery heels, and gets to work.If only the adorable six-year-old's father wasn't such an appealing Prince Charming.

Ford's whole life revolves around his daughter...until he meets Lila. Smart, capable, and amazing at helping Emily gain confidence with her new service puppy at her side, Lila is everything he ever wanted—but she's way out of his league. Good thing Emily and her new pup are up to the matchmaking task. This Christmas, it's all hands (and paws) on deck!

I love this series. I find it so interesting how animals can help people with so many different problems. I loved the family dynamic in this book and I thought the romance was sweet.

Sometimes a story just hits me in the “feels” and lingers on long after I’ve flipped the final page. PUPPY CHRISTMAS is such a story. The second book in the Service Puppy / Forever Home series this one is about the eldest of the sisters, Lila, and she is as complex and as down to earth as any woman can be. When I first met her in PUPPY LOVE, I wasn’t sure if she really was that serious all the time or if something made that happen – I got my answer, that’s for sure. I loved how she came alive, out of that shell and showed her true self to not only Ford and Emily, but to those around her as well. She needed the right man (and a little girl) in her life to shine and did she ever. Not without some stumbles, but I adored who she showed herself to be at the heart.

Ford is a charmer, no doubt. He uses humor and his flirting ability to deflect people from getting too close. His one true focus is his daughter, Emily, and she is so adorable I’d just love to hug her tight.

PUPPY CHRISTMAS is a delightful, fun, realistic romance that may have a bit of a slow burn feel, but at the core, this is two people discovering that they can be seen for themselves completely, just as they are, and still be loved. Now, expect scenes to be stolen (and maybe your heart, too) by a service pup named Jeeves and one princess loving little girl who’s hearing difficulties are realistically and subtly explained. I loved these characters individually and together they make the perfect family. Secondary characters mean so much to me in any story, and there are plenty of them to enjoy in this story.

I had fun with Ford, Emily, Jeeves, and Lila – and that is the entire point. If you enjoy a really good, realistic Christmas love story then you’ll want to check out PUPPY CHRISTMAS, or any story in this series for yourself. I’d highly recommend it without hesitation.

This is the 2nd book in the series. I didn't read the first book but now want to go back and read it as this one was so good. Lila and her sisters run a unique business. They train puppies to help those with a disability. Enter Ford Ford and his adorable daughter Emily.
Mix a six year old, a new puppy with 2 stubborn adults and love will ensue. This was a great book and I can't wait to read the next one!

Book two in the Forever Home series can be read as a standalone, but so far, this entire series has been great.

Meet the Vasquez sisters, the women who run Puppy Promise, a service dog training school. Lila Vasquez is the eldest sister, she's serious, driven, and in her own words "no fun." She may be the serious sister, but if allowed, she knows how to enjoy herself.

Ford Ford provides some welcome comedy. His name alone is worth a laugh, but beyond that he is a funny guy. A single father who dotes on his daughter, Ford is doing everything in his power to afford his hearing disabled child the best care possible. When Ford and Emily win a scholarship for a service dog, Lila is introduced to the goofy dad and provides some seriousness to the fray.

This book has it all: comedy, drama, romance, and covers all the emotions. I truly fell for all these characters and want to follow them throughout their lives. Emily, especially, grabbed my heart – I loved seeing her grow in confidence with her puppy pal. Mostly my heart fell in love with Ford and Lila. Watching these two adults overcome their own insecurities, find comfort in one another, and truly learn to give in was beautiful.

I cannot wait for Dawn's story!!

This is the second book in the series – I have not read book one, however I intend to do so, as this is a really well written book, and I need to get Sophie's story too. The series is based on the service dog training school run by three sisters.

Lila is the serious, older sister, who had to help hold the family together as baby sister Sophie went through cancer treatment. She has never really dropped the responsibility habit, and her last boyfriend said some incredibly hurtful things to her about being cold-hearted. It was really sad to see how much this had affected her – but meeting Ford and Emily seems destined to revise her opinion.

Six-year-old Emily has been awarded a service dog to help her with her hearing loss. Lila is going to train them both for six weeks, and so more or less joins the household. She finds herself attracted to Emily's single dad, Ford, and also unexpectedly enjoying herself with Emily's obsession with princesses. It is fun and sweet, with a fabulous undercurrent of chemistry between the adults which simmers very nicely. Lila can't really believe that he has any interest in her, but Ford is definitely determined to win her heart and hand.

Any book with a lot of gorgeous puppies in it would be fabulous, but this one also tells a lovely romance, with a very happy ending.

This was a perfect romance for me. There was a fun meet-cute, at a ball (!). The main characters are able to make light of themselves and the situations they find themselves in. There was a cute daughter. The dialogue is engaging. And puppies and Christmas!

Lila trains puppies to be Hearing Dogs. Ford Ford (seriously) was just awarded a puppy for his daughter who is deaf. Lila and Ford meet at the fancy fundraising ball where they have their meet-cute. This happens before Lila figures out that she will be working with Ford and his daughter, Emily. Both Lila and Ford had some preconceived notions about themselves, and they were able to challenge each other's self-perceptions in a good way. Lila thinks of herself as the serious sister and is nervous about working with kids. But there's something about Ford and Emily that make her wonder.

I thought this was a satisfying story, and I look forward to reading the other books in the series. That said, I haven't read the first one and didn't feel that I was missing anything, so this totally reads like a standalone.

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was darling! I loved the characters in this, especially Emily and Jeeves the puppy. I'm a sucker for a story with a well-written kid character and/or animal character. The chemistry between the adults is good. And I especially enjoyed the identity part of Lila's story as she considers her self-perception, the hurtful words of her ex, and the reality of her interactions with Ford. The Christmas piece is part of the setting/timing of the story, but this didn't feel like a "Christmas" story per se. The holiday isn't a huge factor in the story. I would have loved more about the sisters' relationship, but maybe that was covered more completely in book one. I have book one on my TBR shelves, and will be reading that one immediately. This is so freaking cute. I normally don't like dogs or children in romance novels, but it really worked here. Terrific Christmas romance for the holidays.

Puppy Christmas really brought all the good feels out. We have cuteness overload with a service dog in training and his new little girl, her dad (oddly named Ford Ford), and the puppy trainer they all fall in love with from the moment they set eyes on her in the super fluffy princess dress.

The characters in this book jumped right out of the pages into my heart. Ford and his flirty ways have most of the single moms in the neighborhood at his beck and call - but not in a creepy way. They love the guy and have taken him under their wings to help him care for his beyond adorable daughter, Emily, who is hearing impaired. The bond these two share made me jealous.

I also loved that there wasn't really a villain - just life and history and fear that was standing between Ford and Lila. Lila has a lot to learn about the more carefree side of herself, and Ford needs to learn to stop hiding behind jokes and flirting. Emily has her own vital role to play in all this as well, and I think giving her more of a primary role in the book was the perfect touch. This was the perfect way to start my Christmas Romance reading.

Puppy Christmas is a lighthearted romance about Ford, a single dad who lacks self-confidence, and Lila, a straightforward puppy trainer for special needs individuals. Ford’s daughter Emily has severe hearing loss and has won the opportunity to get a free service puppy, including six weeks of training with Lila. Lila and Emily hit it off right from the beginning when they have a chance encounter. Ford and Lila have an instantaneous attraction as well, but each of them comes with their own baggage. It is fun to read about how they get beyond their pasts to find their HEA. I enjoyed reading about what a devoted father Ford is, often sacrificing his own needs to make sure that Emily always comes first in his life. There are lots of laugh-out-loud humorous situations making this an enjoyable, fast read.

✦Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: PUPPY CHRISTMAS by Lucy Gilmore https://wp.me/p3d0RZ-bgW
Publication Date: September 24, 2019
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Donna
Rated: 5 Stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this light contemporary romance. Sometimes quirky, sometimes solemn, it ticked all my boxes and kept me reading. To Lila, she evolved throughout the story, but to the readers and those around her, she became the loving and fun person she was at the beginning. I liked her from the start and enjoyed her journey. Ford was a likeable single father raising a hearing impaired daughter. His flirting was an emotional shield that crumbled when he met Lila. The immediate attraction between them was believable and a joy watching it grow into a smoking romance. Christmas and the puppies only added to the charm. I now have a new author added to my “must read” list.

10 REASONS TO LOVE PUPPY CHRISTMAS

1. It has puppies, so many adorable puppies!
2. It has funny moments that will make you smile if not outright laugh
3. It’s a cute (light) holiday read
4. It has a sweet (if misunderstood) heroine that you’ll quickly be rooting for!
5. A flirty, too-silly-for-his-own-good Hero that will melt your heart
6. Emily and Jeeves von Hinklebottom the Third (Just try to resist these two!)
7. Meddling family and friends who can drive one crazy but always with the best of intentions
8. Slow burn romance (in the best way!)
9. Down to earth characters that are easy to relate too
10. And a HEA that will leave you with all the warmhappy vibes of a sweet romance

What a sweet romantic read that gently nudged me into the holiday spirit, lol! I had such a fun time reading this book and getting to know Lila and Ford and of course, cute as a button Emily and Jeeves too.

Lila, who is considered the stern, too perfect older Vasquez sister is ready to tackle her newest obstacle. Training a service puppy for a little kid. Never having dealt with children, this job sounds more for her younger, more approachable sisters. And her fears are confirmed when she’s introduced to flirty, always-ready-with-a-smile Ford and his little girl,Emily.

If you like down to earth, every day characters, slow burn, tons of humor and low drama definitely check this book out. It’s a feel good story that will leave you smiling.

Would I recommend? Yes! It was a great read.

Puppy Christmas by Lucy Gilmore is the second book in her new Forever Home series. Puppy Christmas was a sweet, cute and funny story line that revolves around Puppy Promise, a service (special needs) puppy training school run by three sisters. In Puppy Christmas, the oldest sister, Lila Vazquez is our heroine and she was a wonderful heroine. Lila, as the oldest, always considered herself strait-laced, workaholic and follows rules; as well as not sure she can handle very young children. Lila decides to take the case of a young girl with a hearing impairment, and is determined to do it right, as she hopes to gain the approval of the Auditory Guild, as it would mean more business for them.

Ford Ford (yes that is his name) is our hero and the father of Emily, the young girl who is hearing impaired. Despite that name, Ford is a gorgeous hunk, whom all the girls fall over, but Ford does not want any romantic entanglements, since he is focused only on helping his daughter. Ford meets Lila, the woman who will help them pick the service dog that is right for Emily, as well as train both dog and girl. Ford finds himself very attracted to the beautiful Lila, and his conversation between her or any woman are usually joking, which eventually turns into sexual banter between them.

Lila was dressed up to the event in a pink gown, and Emily began to call her Princess Lila, which kind of continues throughout the story; as Emily doesn’t have friends, and Lila steps in to help her gain confidence, as well as learn to work with her cockapoo dog, Jeeves. What follows is a humorous adventure, as Lila spends a lot of time with Ford, Emily and Jeeves; especially the banter between Ford and Lila, which was zany from the start, and frankly at times it was hilarious. In a short time, they both feel the strong attraction for each other, with their fun romance escalating; however, Ford doesn’t feel he deserves Lila, as his financial situation wasn’t very good.

Puppy Christmas was a fun lighthearted story, with a sweet couple, a darling young girl and a wonderful puppy. I loved the characters, such as Lila, Ford, Emily, Jeeves, as well as Sophie and Dawn. Lucy Gilmore kept us entertained from start to finish, as well as giving us an informative glimpse at a service dog working with a hearing-impaired child. I look forward to Dawn’s story next.

What a cute book! How can anyone resist cute puppies and a gorgeous man?
This book was very cute and imaginative. It was not what I was expecting, but was better. I liked how the whole relationship was fun and creative, and eat it helped both main characters grow.
I also loved the supportive family cast, as usual.
It was a lovely seasonal read.

Puppy Christmas should be on everyone's holiday must-read list! Lila's interactions with Emily are sure to melt your heart, and if you're made of stone, the animals are cute enough to melt even Scrooge. There isn't a single thing I'd change about this story, and wish everyone could read it. Ford is lovable and charming, especially with his daughter. If you only have time for one Christmas story this season, make it this one!

This is a standalone book. I have not read any of the authors previous works. Based on this book, I will go back to read the first in the series when I need a shot of good romance laced with humor.

This is a single parent romance. Lila runs Puppy Promise with her siblings. Ford is single dad who lives in a modest home, drives a minivan, and makes a living illustrating. His life revolves around his daughter Emily. He has been able to maintain friendships without getting romantically involved with women.

Lila and Ford meet, sparks eventually fly and add a dose of humor to make this a great story.
