Filled with suspense this thriller keeps you hooked until the end!

Grace and Nick seem like your average couple - a house, jobs, a dog and Grace's daughter from a previous relationship.

When one moment changes both their lives - the night Nick left. This had me filled with who, what, why's and the writing style made me eager to find out more.
Grace searches for Nick and after alerting the police they don't seem that worried - even though he vanished the night after he proposed. What makes a seemingly average guy dissappearance?

Kept me captivated with the cleverly written plot as Grace delves into Nick's history as his past meets his present with the turn up of two people within days of each other from his past.

I really warmed to the character of Grace - she came across as strong, determined to find out the truth and clearly loves Nick and her daughter. Yet she has secrets of her own she wants to keep in her past which even 3/4 way through I don't yet know.

The story mixes perfectly between the past and the present and is centred around a family holiday from Nick's childhood that no one can forget. A tragedy that those concerned never got over, the story is told from the perspective of various characters and is peppered with twists keeping the ending hidden.

I didnt guess the ending and happily got taken where the author was leading me.... Or so I thought.

My thanks to Netgalley and Random House for a copy of The Night You Left for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Many psychological novels offer a lot and fail to deliver.
At the start , with so many characters , I was concerned I would lose track of the storyline , but this wasn’t a problem at all.
I genuinely wasn’t sure how things were going to end.
I can definitely recommend this as a must read.

Starting off slowly without really being sure how much I was enjoying it, the book builds and builds into something fabulous.

For every chapter you read, there appear to be more revelations, secrets, realisations and unanswered questions.

It truly is phenomenal just how much this book ultimately pulled me in, confused my mind, and spat me back out again after absorbing a cracking story.

Told in two time lines, the events that happened in 2000 and 2018, I somehow took far too long to work out even the most obvious of links between the events.

I was though drawn into both time lines and very curious as to how everything would turn out.

It does though pose the question of just how well do you know your partner, and can you be sure they don't have any deep dark hidden secrets.

Another great book from an author that I'm really enjoying reading.

Thank you to Transworld and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

this book had a lot of twists and turns, with dual point of views: one from the present, and one from the past in 2000, when everything turned upside down. it’s a story about the past catching up to you, and having to deal with all of that, whilst trying to stay afloat. it kept me guessing as i read on.

I received this book free from netgalley for my honest opinion.

I thought this book was well written and played out all the parts as we're necessary. It was a good book and kept my attention. Though not gripping enough for a 5 star rating

A very slow start, too much domestic and unnecessary detail. I could not finish it but thank you to the publisher for sending me an arc.

This was a really compelling and gripping book! With plenty of twists, I couldn't put this down once I started reading it and couldn't wait to get to the end. Characters were well developed and interesting to read about. Would definitely recommend.

Grace is ecstatic when Nick asked her to marry him but when he goes for a walk later that night and does not return home, she has to deal with her young daughter Lottie, her ex-partner who is manipulative and controlling and Nicks parents who don't like Grace at all.

The story intertwines with Grace trying to find out what has happened to Nick but links with a past when a tragic accident caused the death of one of his friends. She is convinced the two are connected.

A great storyline which was a bit slow to start but picked up pace half way through. Some twists were predictable but some were unexpected.

I am an Emma Curtis novice and I was so impressed with this outstanding psychological thriller, although I have had another of this fabulous author’s books - One Little Mistake - on my Kindle for a while. The premise of The Night You Left beckoned to me and I knew that I had to read this novel!

The Night You Left definitely did not disappoint. It had everything I would expect from a psychological thriller - a great plot, well-drawn characters and terrific pacing.

Even though I have read quite a few books with a similar premise to this one - a missing partner, unexposed secrets, many lies and several twists, so I began this book in the knowledge of what was to come. This novel has also been a great delight, full of drama, betrayal and fascinating characters, whether they were loved or hated and unexpected outcomes. There was oodles of suspense and it was definitely an enthralling reading experience that had me hooked throughout.

I loved the shock factor and twisting plots, making this extremely difficult to put down. I really appreciated the smooth writing style of Emma Curtis and it was easy to connect with the characters - to imagine them, sympathise with them, love or hate them.

The great reveal was fulfilling and unexpected. The Night You Left was everything I wanted in what was a pretty special psychological thriller.

I am already looking forward to my next read by Emma Curtis.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Random House UK, Transworld Publishers via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

A slight slow start but it builds up to a more gripping read....a story of a man who goes missing and the story is told combined with one from his childhood. Lots of twists and turns, an easy read !

This is the story of Grace and Nick have just got engaged but the he goes for a walk and just disappears. Grace is left to deal with her daughter Lottie Douglas an overbearing ex partner, as well as Nick’s parents who have moved in and do not attempt to hide their distaste for Grace.

All Grace wants to do is find Nick and in her attempts to find out what happened she discovers tragedy in his childhood which haunts him as a man. She also uncovers secrets that threaten to ruin their life he he does return

I was engrossed in this novel and found myself wanting to unpick the events of Nick and Grace's life which lead to his disappearance. I totally enjoyed this novel and would recommend it for an intriguing read which keeps you guessing

This was a psychological thriller that gripped from beginning to end. Nick proposes then vanishes. His past life is complicated and full of secrets. Can Grace unravel the mystery and find a happy ending?

I enjoyed this book but, I wasn’t keen on the flipping backs and forwards to the past. I know it was helpful to find out what went on before but I found it very distracting.
Nevertheless I enjoyed the book but struggled until the end when things got exciting.
It was a good book to read and hopefully this author will write more in the future. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest, independent review.

"When Grace’s fiancé vanishes without a trace the night after proposing, her life is turned upside down. But has Nick walked out on her, or is he in danger? As Grace desperately searches for answers, it soon becomes clear that Nick wasn’t the uncomplicated man she thought she knew. And when she uncovers a hidden tragedy from his childhood, she realises an awful truth: that you can run from your past – but your secrets will always catch up with you . . . "

A gripping, exciting read with lots of twists and turns! I was gripped from the start, wanting to know what Nick's secret was - why did he walk out on Grace the night after proposing? Why didn't he come back? As time went on, and we learnt more of Nick's past, I was convinced he was dead.

The book flips from past to present. I did find some of the past-day chapters confusing at first, working out who everyone was, but I gradually settled into the characters and wanted to know what everyone's role was in Nick's life, past and present.

The ending was unexpected but not disappointing! A real page-turner!

One Saturday afternoon, Grace’s boyfriend, Neil, proposes to her. A few hours later, he goes out for a walk and doesn’t come back. As the days pass with no word from him, Grace starts to discover that Neil isn’t necessarily the person she thought he was.

There are several strands to the story running at the same time - Grace ‘s in the days following Day Zero (when he left) and her interaction with Neil’s parents, the police, and mystery school mum Anna; and events 18 years previously, featuring Neil and friend Taisie. Gradually the two stories start to link up , but even after the truth about Neil and Taisie is known, there’s still many more twists and turns before the fate of Neil is finally revealed.

This book really kept my interest from beginning to end. Whilst there were numerous characters and plots, I found it easy to read and follow, without needing to refer back at any time. Very good story, would recommend it to all fans of psychological thrillers.

One minute Grace’s boyfriend proposes to her and the next he’s gone missing - where has he gone and more to the point why? I knew I’d like this book from the very first page! Several points of view and two timeframes as all the secrets and lies are revealed and wrongdoings avenged. Characters you love to hate, red herrings and great writing all in one little package. I raced through in the hope the battery wouldn’t run out before I could finish - loved it. A worthy holiday companion or Christmas present.

A great thriller with plenty of twists and turns. I found the characters a little unlikeable but I loved the plot. A little slow in places, but a good read overall.

Another brilliant thriller. After a surprise proposal Graces partner Nick goes missing. Nobody else seems worried and thinks he has just realised Grace isn’t for him- his family in particular are quite nasty and hateful about this. But why aren’t they concerned about his disappearance? A gripping read- I loved going back to Nicks teenage years too, it gave a great amount of insight. Really well written.
