I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend to anyone who loves a thriller!

One night, Nick proposed to Grace. Then he goes missing.:..is Nick in danger?
Grace searches for the truth, but by doing so she uncovers a lot of secrets!
But what has happened to Nick!?

The book was told from different perspectives, in three different parts over two timelines

The short, snappy chapters just made me want to read “one more chapter”.

I didn’t not guess what happened at all to Nick! This book was so clever how it all came to a conclusion

Highly recommended!!

The blurb for The Night You Left sounded interesting and promising however I found the book very flat and not interesting at all so it isn't one I would recommend

Very clever and unpredictable thriller. Well written characters with lots of twists and turns and a completely unexpected ending! I very much enjoyed thank you.

A great read, with plenty going on and plenty of twists along the way.
The past and the present are cleverly intertwined and there are some great characters throughout.

This is my first Emma Curtis novel but I will look out for more.

This book was a slow burn to begin with. However as the characters developed within the book it left you wanting to red quicker and quicker to find out what has happened to Tim.
Grace was blissfully happy. Her long time boyfriend has just proposed. Life is good. Then Tim goes out for a walk and doesn't return. Grace is then on a journey to discover what has happened to him. We also have flash backs to Tim's teenage years. Could this lead to the answers for his disappearance?

The Night You Left is a good psychological thriller but it didn’t quite grip me enough to award it more than three stars.

The plots starts with Nick going out for a walk and then just disappearing. He and Grace have been together for seven years and Nick has just proposed to Grace so his disappearance makes no sense. Much of the book is set in 2000 when Nick’s parents, Tim and Cora Ritchie, go away with their family friends Sean and Jess Wells with their children Taisie, Izzy, Alex and Rory. They all go to stay at the Devon home of Angus and Lorna Moody with their twins Pansy and Freya. Yes, 6 adults and 7 children – quite a cast to keep track of.

As the story progresses we find that a tragedy during that summer of 2000, together with some dodgy business dealings and other things, changes the lives of all three families.

The story moves back and forth with the past moving forward and the present moving backwards to the point where Nick disappeared. I found the number of characters and the complexity of interactions between characters quite arduous to follow and challenging to remember. I wanted to know what happened to Nick so plodded on but now, a week after finishing the book, I cannot remember much except the outcome. It was all too circuitous for my liking.

I also struggled to understand why Grace put up with such constant abuse from Nick’s mother Cora and allowed Cora and Tim access to her home for so long in the face of such nastiness.

With thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Transworld Publishers for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great story, well written with very personable characters. Plenty of twists to keep you guessing through out and I didn't see the ending coming at all!

This story started so good and i was intrigued to discover all the secrets and mysteries that i was hopping will unfold throughout the pages.
Unfortunately, for me, it felt flat and i was really thinking if i should give up or carry on. Because i rarely DNF a book, i picked it up again and was glad to do it because the story takes a turn after the first half part and it gets more interesting.
What i liked the most is Grace and her willingness to find out the truth and don't wait for the police investigation to complete as they seem to found a dead end. The way she tries to carry on with her life after Nick disappears, all the dangerous situations and unveiling the secrets of his childhood, her inner thoughts and her love for her daughter.
I didn't like that there are too many day by day descriptions that just drag on and it feels like being put on the paper just to fill the space instead of adding another layer to the story.
The writing was good and overall it's a book that i will recommend.
Thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for my copy.

Grace’s fiancé disappeared hours after proposing, what prompted him to leave? Did he go of his own accord? The story follows Grace as she investigates what happened to Nick. What secrets do they both have?
The story started a little slow but was worth sticking with as the past and the secrets were revealed.
Who can Grace trust?
The story is told in the past and the present and from the different character’s points of view. The characters were believable and kept me wanting to know more about them.
I would like to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review

Nick and Grace have been together for 7 years. Nick has helped bring up her daughter Lottie. The night he proposed should be a memorable happy time but will be a date she will never forget, for a different reason, as that night Nick disappears without a trace!!

The police think he has just left her, but why would he propose then leave? She think she knows him well, but does she?

The story goes back to Nick’s childhood, when he went on holiday with close friends who made his life hell by ignoring him. A tragedy occurs and this has affected Nick through to adulthood.

This story is told from several people’s prospectives leading from the childhood holiday until the days leading up to Nicks disappearance. What was Nick hiding?

This book kept me gripped with its mystery and secrets. The ending did not disappoint and for me was quite unexpected but brilliant!!

Definitely recommend this book. I was instantly drawn into this story and kept captive until the last page.

When Grace’s fiancé, Nick, vanishes without a trace the night after proposing, her life is completely flipped upside down. Has he walked out on her? or has something awful happened to him?

While Grace desperately searches for the man she loves, it is brought to her attention that she doesn’t know everything about Nick like she thought she did. Nick has secrets. She soon uncovers a tragedy from his childhood, but could his past be linked to his disappearance?

I have seen a lot of praise for Emma Curtis, and her writing, and when I saw The Night You Left available for request on NetGalley, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give her books a try. After reading the synopsis, I had high expectations for this book, and it definitely delivered.

Switching between the present day, and the tragic events of Nick’s childhood, we see the story from multiple character’s POV. Sometimes it can get a little confusing when a book switches time, and characters but Curtis executed it perfectly. Although the story wasn’t jam packed with action, at no point did I feel as though it was dragging on, probably because it was just so well written.

I’ve read a lot of thrillers lately where the outcome of the story has been incredibly easy to figure out, but that certainly isn’t the case with The Night You Left. I was completely clueless on the circumstances of Nick’s disappearance throughout the entire book, until all was revealed. There wasn’t a huge amount of twists in the story, but because it was so hard to figure out, it didn’t need them anyway.

The characters were all very believable, and I loved that although there is a lot of important characters in the story, they were all still incredibly well developed, and we still got an in-depth look into each of them. I think this made it a lot easier to engross yourself into the story, and to really connect with the characters

This may have been my first time reading any of Emma Curtis’ books, but it certainly won’t be the last. I can definitely see why her work is praised so highly. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will probably buy a physical copy when it is released!

I give The Night You Left a 5/5 rating.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. This was a slow starter and was glad that I stuck with it as it turned out to be a 4 star read.

A classic thriller/ mystery story of a husband who goes to buy a pint of milk and doesn't come back. It has plenty of twists and turns, some you could have guessed, a few were totally disguised. It was a bit slow to begin with, and there's not a lot of happy things going on, but I'm glad I persevered. A well written book.

Complex thriller which took a while to get going. Manipulation and revenge and relationships going back to childhood. . A big twist and a few red herrings

This book sounded very good but I'm afraid it didn't live up to my expectations. Sadly this one wasnt for me

This would have been a 3 star read but because of its storyline, level of excitement and tenseness, I’ve given it a 4.

The reason for my hesitation is because none of the characters were likeable. I didn’t feel any kind of connection to them including Grace... who was really the major victim in all of this. I hated Douglas, hated Anna, hated Cora and Tim. Can’t really judge on Nick because he was barely in it. The only really likeable character was Lottie, the child. She didn’t do anything wrong.

This whole story felt a bit like a loose cannon and so many things were going on it was a bit of a mind game. Which is good, but at the same time it was hard to keep up. But, the story was interesting, it was almost, almost, realistic. The ending wasn’t at all but it was good... definitely an explosion.

The author’s writing style was pretty good. Descriptive enough to feel like you can picture everything which is brilliant and exactly what you need in this genre. But I think she definitely needs to work more on her characters and their personalities and not just the storyline and where that’s going.

Worth a read, for sure.

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story follows 3 main POV, Grace, Nick and Anna. When Grace’s fiance Nick disappears the night after proposing Grace is left wondering what happened to him. Her perfect life starts to fall apart as she cannot understand why he would leave her and her daughter. The book started off really strong but then towards the middle it really slowed up nothing seemed to happen for ages and I did get a little bored. However, perseverance did pay off as the pace built and the twists kept coming and the ending was very strong but I think the book could have been much better the writer seems to miss so many opportunities in my opinion.

This book is amazing. It has a slow start and you think you can predict the story and outcome but it is nothing like you think it is going to be. It is full of tension, suspense and twists at every opportunity. It gripped me and I read late into the night eager to discover what would happen next. Nick, Grace and Lottie appear to have the perfect life but everything you take for granted can be destroyed in the blink of an eye. Everyone is not who they seem. I would thoroughly recommend this book if you want to surprised and horrified at the turn of every page.
