Hunt of the Gods is right up my alleyway for genres I'm obsessed with and Amy Braun hit it right on the mark. HOTG was fantastic and I enjoyed every moment reading this.

HUNT OF THE GODS by Amy Braun takes place two months after book one. War-scion Derek Areios and the rogue scions continue their quest to find the Trinity Weapons and the Shards of Cronus. This urban fantasy is suitable for adult readers.

Amy Braun did an amazing job developing the characters, especially Derek, Selena, and Thea. I appreciated that they grew and discovered details about themselves. The plot was clever and full of twists. The Union of the Seas Festival was creative. The politics among the gods were fascinating.

HUNT OF THE GODS was skillfully written and thought-provoking. Amy Braun does a nice job combining the old myths with her new story. I recommend this series to people that enjoy contemporary mythology novels. I am looking forward to book three. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Two months ago, they recovered the Thunderbolt of Zeus and the Heart of the Devourer. During the battle Derek made a discovery about himself that makes him the only scion alive to wield two types of elemental magic. Now Derek and the band of rogue scions that he’s aligned with has been commanded to retrieve the Trinity Weapons and the Shards of Cronus. But they have work with a gang of water scions as well and the mission leads them down a path of brutal betrayals, hard truths, painful memories and desperate actions.

Smokin’ thunderbolts, this urban fantasy story has some serious energy and gripping emotions that flow from every page of this powerful read. The events of this story has the rogue scions and a gang of water scions reluctantly joining together to achieve Zeus’ command but there is no trust between the two groups and it is obvious that there are some dirty, underhanded tricks up the water scions sleeves. Somehow, during all of this excitement, there is some romance blossoming with the group of rogue scions, so those flirty but unsure emotions are mixing in with all the other potent emotions that flow the pages.

Although the story does have a disturbing and OMG cliffhanger ending, there is never a dull moment to be found. This complex and fast paced plot has so many twists and turns that readers have to borrow Hermes’ sandals to keep up as it is full of stunning surprises, frightful prophecies, blood and guts, deadly decisions and exhilarating danger that has readers’ knees bounding up and down in giddy, adrenaline pumping excitement.

I liked it. This is the second book in the Areios Brothers series. I did not read the first book but I think this one does well enough as a stand alone. I like the premise of the story that the gods have children that act as scions to do their bidding on earth. Derek is the heir and scion of Ares. He is working with others to retrieve the Trinity weapons and the eye of Cronus. Derek is developing new powers while on this dangerous quest and is the only scion that can use two types of elemental magic, fire and aether. He is struggling with his new powers and is trying not to fulfill a devastating prophesy. There are a lot of difficulties along the way in the quest to appease the gods and things often don't go their way. I wanted to read up on my mythology because I had forgotten a lot of the Gods roles. It is an interesting concept to combine mythology, magic and monsters in a present day setting. It took me a long time to get into this story but that may be because I hadn't read the first book. I liked it but I'm not sure that I liked it enough to read the next books in this series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is the second book in this series, and I really liked this second book better than I did the first. Not that the first was bad; it wasn’t. However, this book is more centered around the story and the action. And, yes, there is lots of action. Derek is still dealing with his powers and the task he and his friends are on. When there is a lead on one of the artifacts they must retrieve, he and his friends risk their lives to get it. This book was full of revelations, action, and a little bit of romance. I feel sorry for Derek as he can’t catch his breath and a break; everything just seems to go wrong for him. I am looking forward to what is coming next! Highly recommend to those who like action-filled urban fantasy. I received a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Hunt of the Gods by Amy Braun, Derek and his brother are scions of Ares, searching for the lost weapons of the Olympians. Things are not going well and with the secrets Derek is keeping it doesn't bode well for the world.
