I really liked this book . I wish it was longer. I wanted so much more. I enjoyed the characters but wish they had more of a Backstrom Definitely a steamy read.

This is a very quick novella that packs in a lot of steam and angst. I liked both of the characters. I was rooting for them to find a HEA. Bonus, the kids were cute and not annoying. Definitely worth picking up.

I love single parent reads and while I found this one to be a little short for my liking, it was still an enjoyable steamy read. Perfect for when you only have a short amount of time and want something that will capture your interest.

Having read Love in the Stacks (the other Dirty Bits novelette in Peters' New Bedford series) I had high expectations for this book. It was disjointed. I liked a lot of it, like the rep for a single mom with some trauma from a bad birth experience and painful sex following it. The single dad next door has a disabled son and that rep seemed good too. But the romance itself was underdeveloped. I really think Peters would have done better writing longer with a story this complicated. There were a couple of interrupted sex scenes, and they honestly felt shoe-horned in. Like the point of the Dirty Bits line is that they're super steamy, so she had to up the sexual content but the characters weren't really there yet. I liked that the heroine had had a wild past and the whole book was very sex-positive, but she ended up feeling horrible about an incomplete blow job - guilt that her kids were inside watching a movie. Like just leave it out if it's going to make everyone (including the reader) miserable.

Anyway, I liked both of the main characters and their kids, and I wanted everyone to be together and happy, which they were at the end. I just wish it had been longer.

Spoiler to follow:

At one point, while the MCs are having sex, they miss phone calls telling them that the girls' dad showed up at the school and tried to take the girls. He had a long history of drug abuse and had had his parental rights terminated years prior. It was traumatic for everyone and led the female MC to break things off with the male MC. This is the kind of stuff that doesn't get resolved properly in a 15,000 word novelette.

This review is not going to be long. I am not a huge fan of a review rehashing the entire plot and spoiling it for everyone.

This is the first book by Delilah Peters that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Her style of writing. keeps you interested and waiting for more. I cannot wait to read more of her books.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I had to re-read the synopsis on this book. Because I was expecting something fun, light and sexy! Yes, we had some of all that. But the little hints that something traumatic happened to Emma throughout the book was a mood killer.
And when we finally find out what it is. I was not feeling it. Sorry!
The husband stitch. And her ripping so bad during childbirth. Made me cringe!

“It wasn’t just a little tear,” I continued. “I don’t look the way I did before, Will. I’m asymmetrical and scarred. Plus, the obstetrician put in a husband stitch without my permission.”

I was just expecting something different. I understand women go through something like this. I get it. But if I wanted to read about it I would’ve signed up for it knowing full well what I was signing up for. This was just over the top and not a light fun read.

Also too... right when things were heating up... and I was starting to feel their sex scene. Emma’s fingers cramping during sex was a mood killer! Not sexy or funny.

I have to be honest here. I really wasn’t feel their very first sexual encounter either. It felt out of place. Especially how they almost got caught by her daughter and Emma’s reaction after. Another mood killer.

Unfortunately... this book just didn’t work for me. Which I’m sad about! Because the synopsis was so good!

I can't believe I finished this book! The plot had so much potential but this book failed to deliver. A hot single dad moves next door to a hot single mom. I expected hot sex but got a disjointed story that was boring and not very hot! Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

I have been thinking about what I felt while reading this novella. As giving rate, to a novella is always harder than rating a full novel. Here author needs to put everything in a really small amount of word count. Sometimes it works and sometimes it's miserable.
In Right Next Door I hadn't expected anything bog, as it's not the aim of those stories. And I got what I was wanting - good characters, some developing and growing romance. So far it's nice, right?
I just needed a few little things gor it to be five star - more back story of both MC and more relationship stages. That's why I gave 4 stars.

Right Next Door is a quick and steamy read that offers Herero-eroticism in a quick short dose. Two single parents meet cute as next door neighbours and quickly find an emotional and sexual connection despite difficulties navigating their own lives as both parents and professionals. Although the chemistry between main characters Emma and Will is written with electricity and an authentic physical attraction pulling them in, the ease at which they connect emotionally and let their walls down happens a bit too quickly to be believed.

Overall, a short steamy read that offers great escapism.

A fun sexy read that brings two single parents together. This was not heavy on drama but does explore the difficulties of parenting. Plenty of fun sexy times in this novella.

I received a free copy of Right Next Door. What a great read. It was a quick, easy read, and there was a ton of chemistry between Emma and Will. The author also introduced just enough "real life" obstacles to compliment the story. Definitely worth the read.

Right Next Door is a short story written by Delilah Peters. It's a stand-alone novel and it belongs in a series of novellas written by different authors, so you just pick it up and read it. The story would have worked better if it was a full-length novel. You have Emma's past, her daughter and her work. Then you have Will, with his disabled son, the ex with and their weird relationship. And to top that up these two people have to have a relationship and sell us on the romance. I would have loved to see Emma and Will spending more time with their kids as a potential family and see how the kids would adapt to the situation. That was the only thing that didn't work for me. I liked the rest of the story and the characters were likable. I didn't mind that it was only told from Emma's point of view, even though it took me some time to get used to it. For the first time in my life, I heard about the husband stitch and that will give me nightmares.

I am enjoying the variety and different ways that authors have interpreted "The Dirty Bits" in this series from Carina Press. I would recommend that you give them a try – and remember the premise of all the 'good' bits in a short story and judge them on that basis. They are quick, often cheeky, forays into passion, often with a quick transition to romance. Sometimes a short, sexy story is just what you need!

This story, though short, gives us a much deeper insight into the needs of these two neighbours, as well as some gloriously naughty bits! As they are both being single parents, there is a common bond, although the reasons are different. Their strength and their pleasure in each other soon become evident and heart-warming.

This is a perfect one-sitting read, which will have you smiling, and maybe shedding a tear... as well as maybe feeling a little heated!

M/F Romance

Emma is living her life, her way. Well, as much her way as she can. Working nights as a nurse is tough. But her girls are worth it. Despite having a dead-beat ex, Emma knows that she is giving her girls everything she can.

Will is learning how to live in a new place. With his son and his ex-wife, Will is learning that he can have it all. When he meets his sexy next door neighbor, he knows that he has to make sure that he can give what his son needs, as well as what a new partner might need.

Together, these two will have to figure out how to navigate their jobs, kids, and a budding relationship. While the characters have a connection, it seemed that it was mostly through their kids at first. I liked watching their relationship turn more to a romantic one. However, I also felt that despite their connection, they had a very one-dimensional relationship. While their past trauma was discussed, it didn't compensate for the overall lack of relationship feeling.

Triggers: traumatic birth story

A sweet and steamy romance, it was a quick read about finding love again and facing your fears and insecurities.

This was short and definitely not sweet--it was so hot it was sizzling. Everything in the windows took my breath away. I'm only giving it 3 stars because I wanted more. I'd love to see the author re-write this as a full-length novel and explore the emotions and backstories of the protagonists and their families.

This was a 22,000 word story, in other words super short. That said the author used those words well. We were able to get to know the characters, have some sexy times, and a happily ever after. It was a good little short break read.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I didn’t hate this one, but I didn’t absolutely love it either. Emma is a single mom of two girls, Will, a divorced dad, moves in next door. The tension is there right from the get go, I didn’t find the connection between Will and Emma to be enough. Yes, Will really helped Emma overcome some personal obstacles that stemmed from her horrible birth with her second born. I can understand the idea behind the story, it is very cute, but I didn’t find the connect there between the two characters. Yes, there seemed to be some sexual attraction, but the desire just didn’t come through for me.
The medical pieces, the birth story and horror story of it, those were a really great additions to the story. The focus on building yourself up to a positive outlook and love of yourself was really nice, and I did enjoy that this book points out that there’s more than just one way to find pleasure with another person. All in all, not a top of the charts, but definitely a quick cute read. 3/5*

Another quick, fun read by Carina Press.

I appreciate the fact that the characters in this story are not your typical lonely-and-horny characters that you usually expect in a quick smut.

I mean, yes they are lonely and horny, but they are also more than that. For one, Emma is a single, working mom who just wants to let it loose with Will, her new, handsome neighbor who also happens to be a single dad.

I like that they are not completely driven by their raging hormones. I find them sneaking around every time they have the chance, quirky and charming. They have great chemistry and I love them both and their children together. Even though the story was pretty short, the dynamics of these characters make sense as a unit.

Thank you Netgalley and Carina Press for the online copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Emma is a single mom of two adorable little girls that are a handful. She's a nurse and it's working night shifts so support her daughters because their father is not in the picture any longer. Something happens in the past and we get to understand why Emma has her daughters all to herself. That being said, it's not easy to be a single mom. Especially when a handsome single dad moves next door.

Will just moved to a new home with her son. The idea is to have him close to his mother and her side of the family since Nick needs special care sometimes with his disability. The single mom next door proves to be a good distraction to his normal routine and at the same time, her daughters grow on him fast. It's hard to stay away from love when the family is merging together so easily.

The writing was well done. I did not find any mistake during my reading and had a great time enjoying the characters. I also enjoyed the way the author made it seem kind of simple, from the children point of view, some things that for adults are not so simple.

The story itself was entertaining and sweet. I can't fault the characters for the way they acted or the author for the way the book was written because I don't see anything wrong. The only thing is that this book was a little short for my taste and for that I can't fault anyone either because the story wraps beautifully with the length it has.

Personally, I think this book is a great story. It can serve to cleanse your palate after reading too much of one trope or could be a great start into the single parent's trope. Either way, I totally recommend it.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book provided by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

This was a new author to me so I didn't know what to expect but this was a short read (read within 1.5hr) and it had just the right amount of steam and romance. I don't feel like I connected with the characters though, or at least Emma! If you need something quick to read with a little kinkiness, then this would be for you.

Thanks Netgalley for the chance to review!
