This is one story that stays with you long after it has been finished. Ms Jayne crafted characters with genuine and realistic personalities and emotions; it was easy to immerse myself within the story and become entwined in their lives. This Last Stand, Texas series has been such a pleasure to get lost in...I’m looking forward to the next story.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

I really enjoyed this story. Though I feltit was very unrealistic and could never not happen. It appears to be a series and I cannot wait for the next brothers story.

This is the story of Axel who is the eldest brother and Cruz, the two loved each other some 7 years before but she was off to medical school and he the bull riding circuit and so she dumped him for another guy so he could be free and she could go to school.

But she had lied and instead ended up raising a son who is now 7 and making a best friend who ends up moving to the same town that Axel lives in. Her friends convinces her to move to the small town after she becomes a nurse. And that is how she endes up in this small town in Texas where Axel is attending a birthday party and there is a bus accident that Cruz just happens to see and ends up rushing in to help.

As I said very far fetched. Wich is my only issue with this story. I really loved the storyline it just felt super unrealisctic in how they meet again. Once they meet, Axel manages to convince her to move into his house while she waits for her friend to get to town and starts her new job. This gives her time to get to know him again and she gets to know his family as well.

I really enjoyed the 2nd chance aspect of this story and watching these two fall for the other and be there for each other.

Axel and Cruz met years earlier when they were both on the rodeo circuit. Axel wanted to spend five more years on the circuit, but Cruz wanted to go to college and then medical school. Axel bought her a ring and planned to propose the same day that she broke up with him. She didn’t think that they could manage a long term long distance relationship.

Seven years later, with a son in tow, Cruz accepts a short-term position as a physician’s assistant in Axel’s hometown. The attraction is still there, but so is the hurt and fear. Can they work through the issues that kept them apart? Can Axel, who always said he didn’t want children, accept her son? Only time will tell.

This was a great introduction to this ranching family in Last Stand, Texas. I look forward to the additional books planned in this new series.
