This book could have been good. I liked the idea, behind it. Execution was terrible. I feel like the story didn't make sense at times, even the blurb has Taylor's name listed as Tyler. It was a mess, I am surprised I even got all the way through it. This book needs heavy editing, before release.

.5/1 stars

First I want to thank you Xpresso and NetGalley to give me the opportunity to read and review this book.

When I read the blurb I was immediately interested in getting my hands on this novel. The cover is also quite hot right?

The plot itself was good although I felt like there were holes they still needed stiches and the story would be totally amazing if there would be smooth switching between the scenes. Otherwise I am sure this new author needs to be given a chance as I truly like her thinking, mind wandering and the direction this story takes off to.

The blurb and gorgeous cover drew me in and I couldn't wait to try out this new-to-me author. I'm very sad to say that I didn't like it.

Too many plot holes, the characters were very wishy-washy and the plot was a trainwreck. I made it to chapter 7 before I started skimming the book to the end.

I couldn't get over how much of an airhead the heroine was, especially when she is supposed to be educated enough to be a DOCTOR. The first couple of chapters just had some much going on and not enough "transition" time to make it even remotely believable.

Maybe if the story had more development between the characters, then maybe I would have enjoyed it more. As it was I did not feel even a speck of chemistry between them. It felt like the author was "forcing" the characters into a romance.

Overall, this book was all over the place and I do not recommend it. This was my first book by Katerine Baker and I have no interest in reading anything else by this author.

I received a copy of Under the Scrubs by Katerina Baker from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, this novel missed the mark for me. I felt that the plot should have been interesting given the story's summary, but the plot wasn't evenly paced and it was just confusing as all get out. Since the author never clarified or unraveled the plot threads, it was not enjoyable and I struggled to finish the novel. Also, the main characters were kind of boring and weakly fleshed out.

I'd give Under the Scrubs by Katerina Baker 1.5 stars.

This book was a HOT MESS. Avoid at all costs.
I made it the whole way through, only because I committed to a review, but I still have absolutely no clue what happened.
h is a board certified doctor. An OB/GYN but has no experience with babies? Ummm interns do rotations, pediatrics would be one of them. She even references an emergency rotation later and calls upon that experience. Just one of many inconsistencies.
There are so many leaps in the story- including the "romance" (all h knows is H's name and they jump into bed together)- that I don't even know what else to say to accurately portray what a mess this was. Painful to get through, I won't be reading more by Baker.
I recieved an ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review.

WTH, is my thought throughout the book. I felt like I walked into a movie theater halfway through a movie. Did I miss something, I was so lost.

Oh my goodness!! This is a page turner! From the first page, Emilia, finds trouble. Well maybe trouble finds her. She meets Kai, as he defends her against a thief. And then you throw in Melissa, yeah, you have to read this one to figure her out. I didn’t know if she was good or bad. And Taylor, he wasn’t someone I was expecting, but he is also involved in a way too. All I can say is find a comfy seat and don’t plan on moving until you finish this book!!

“Under the Scrubs” by Katerina Baker

I received this book from Net Galley to review and I have not read any previous works by Katerina Baker to compare. Reading the description, I thought this could be a great book filled with action and well developed characters. I was wrong. I made it to chapter 8 before I eventually gave up trying to be interested.

By chapter eight, I expected to have some connection to the main characters and some details as to the plot. I knew little to nothing about Kai and I found the relationship between him and Emilia was odd. First of all, she knows nothing about this man. Absolutely nothing besides his name. He randomly shows up after tracing her phone and has killed three people but she never questions him on this. I know that he is an FBI agent from the description of the book, but there is no reference to his occupation or who he is and I’m eight chapters in.

So, this apparently smart but somehow incredibly stupid and lacking common sense, ends up having sex with a man she barely knows and allowing him to tell her what to do. I really.. really struggled with this plot. I could not relate to the Emilia if you gave her my name and my background. And Kai.. I don’t know anything about him so feeling anything for that character was a moot point.

At about 38% through the book, Emilia tries to withhold sex in order to get answers about Kai’s history with Taylor Moore (who btw, seems to have more character than kai, which again defeats the purpose). Emilia says that Kai would not have sex with her without her consent, but somehow he strips her naked and preforms sexual acts without her consent. Then, when he lets a little snippet of information out about his previous partnership with Taylor, he just takes what he wants from her. I’d also like to note that he says partnership and not FBI agent. So, who knows what kind of partnership they had. Maybe they were partners running a drug syndicate… who the hell knows.

I would give this book a 1 star and that’s simply because the author actually took the effort to write the thing. I would not purchase this book with hard earned money. It would be pointless and disappointing. Sorry Katerina, but you could do better.

This is kai and Emilia book, Kia is an FBI agent and Emilia is a OBGYN doctor, this book was a little confusing I really couldn’t figure out what was happening until about 38% there was just way too much going on but in the end I did enjoy reading this book. Emilia was funny and definitely a little clumsy and while Kai tries to keep her safe and alive Tyler an ex FBI agent comes into the picture and kind of messes things up a little LOL it’s definitely a action packed book and like I said there’s a lot going on but it’s definitely worth reading ,it was good ,wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read but it still worth reading hopefully Tyler gets his own book I liked his character a lot! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
