Hysterical, I just LOVED this book.

Sex and the Single Grandma had me in tears. I just could not get enough. Can't wait to read more by this author.

Synopsis:
When Lynn Garson’s marriage ended in divorce, she refused to give up on her belief in Love, Romance, and Happily Ever After. Her quest to find Mr. Right led her from blind dates to dating apps, from drinks at the Atlanta Ritz Carlton to silverfish in a boyfriend’s guest bed (she has the video evidence to prove it).

Lynn recounts her experiences in the modern dating scene with honesty and humor. Through the ups and downs of her dating adventures, Lynn never loses her manners (“my unreasoning adherence to etiquette only equals my dislike of confrontation”), her wit (“at this stage of life, it takes either a ninety-minute hot yoga class or a life-threatening emergency to make me sweat”), or her optimism (“What if someone wonderful was out there, my very own Sir Lancelot? In the best of all possible worlds, this knight in shining armor would be raven haired, broad in the chest, and own—not rent—his horse.”).

A light fun read that held my attention if only for the hilarious stories and laugh therapy. I appreciate the authors candid writing and feel this book shows a need for a genre that would be appreciated by older woman who are still kicking and having fun in their golden years.

I wasn’t sure about this book. I was really looking forward to reading it, but the foot notes seemed to be there for no reason , so I got bored with them. The explanations of the relationships and reasons was great to read, I just wish she found her happy ending.

It’s good to know that many years from now nothing will have changed. I might still find myself looking for the one among frogs. I really can’t tell if it’s depressing or impressive that I might hold on to such dreams for so long.

Sex and The Single Grandma is about the dating experience of the author- Lynn as she tries to find love after a divorce. Unfortunately she can’t seem to find the right guy. Just as she thinks she has met the one, he turns out to be another frog and she’s back to square one.

I obviously picked this book because of the title. I was sure it was going to be an interesting read. What I hadn’t anticipated was how much I would relate to it.

At this point in time I personally don’t have it in me to find the ‘right one ‘. As I write this, I am currently hurting and disappointed by the fact that I kissed another frog that didn’t turn out to be a prince.

My hurt feelings aside, I found this book to be entertaining and funny. If you are looking for something light to read then this book is for you.

Recently, one of my friends, who is 52 years old, complained, "I can't meet any decent men my age!" I immediately thought of this book and sent her a copy of it, figuring she would enjoy the witty situations in "Sex and the Single Grandma."

In it, Author Lynn Garson shares her own adventures in dating and romance. They're not always pretty, but they are usually quite humorous. Garson is a well-educated woman with a good, stable job. She's kept herself in good shape and enjoys a variety of hobbies and activities. Yet despite these desirable attributes, she finds herself not dating "raven hair knights," but rather, "adrift in a sea of white hairs, bald heads...all of whom bore an uncanny resemblance to my grandfather."

As you can tell, she takes a lighthearted approach to the dire dating scene of a 50+ year old women. She goes on to say "On the plus side, the opportunity to visit with doppelgangers of my long-dead grandpa was welcome. Grandpa had been a memorable guy..."

You'll definitely find yourself laughing as she describes dates with five different men, each with their own quirks and personalities.

For example, there's Zane, the long-haired, Harley-riding bad boy who she met in the produce department of the grocery store. Their date consisted of a trip to New York City to see the Rolling Stones final concert. That might sound like the dream date--but Zane's strange behavior during and after the concert have Lynn wondering what's going on. You'll have to read the story to see what Lynn discovers about Zane!

Then there was Allen, a man she had known for months since their two law firms had worked together on a case. But Lynn learns that matches aren't made in heaven just because two people share a similar profession, a love of fine dining and good wine, and similar backgrounds. You will have to read the book to discover what she learns when she visits Allen's house for the first time!

(I know I'm leaving you in suspense, but I don't want to give away the story and cheat you out of some 'rolling on the floor' laughs!

So purchase this book, pop some popcorn, and plan on spending several hours laughing at the humorous dating situations that Lynn finds herself in!

Lynn Garson allows us to delve into her dating experiences with the humor often lost these days. She recounts just wanting a date. This is hard to find for an over 50, invisible woman.

I laughed throughout the entire book. The writing is honest and easy to read. The situations she finds herself in are a riot. They are so typical of the dating scene today. The author’s humor is the only way to get through such experiences.

I cannot recommend this book more. I read it in a day. It was fun and hilarious. It is a quick read for the beach or on a rainy day.

Great memoir even if I did find myself at the end wondering what on earth the author was doing to get herself into these situations! Makes for great stories though, told with wit and self awareness. More please!

I enjoyed this book more than I expected to. It was well written and I liked how each man she met had his own part.
This book was different from so many personal narratives by older women in that the author actually still enjoyed sex, and the reality of the age-appropriate dating pool did not daunt her. She kept using the dating sites despite many failed connections (which were highly entertaining to read about). She was motivated by her own pleasure instead of insecurity about aging. It was refreshing!

It's ok - but most women I know will roll their eyes or do a forehead slap at the choices and cluelessness of this "grandma." She's lucky she wasn't assaulted or worse. It wasn't so much funny as kind of sad. Sad at the options available to women over 50 and sad what some women will settle for.

I was looking for a quick and fun read as a break from another long and slow-moving book and Sex and the Single Grandma was just exactly what I needed. I read this book in one day and am so glad I picked it up on the weekend because I would've hated to be at work unable to come back to it right away. As bad as I feel for Lynn, I laughed and laughed and laughed. Being in my twenties, there are of course some things I can't directly relate to (Hey there, Richard!) but having my own experience with online dating, some of the scenarios still felt very familiar. Add onto that the fact that I lived near Atlanta and have been to the Blue Ridge Mountains and several other areas she mentioned, and you can imagine how easy it was to picture all of her shenanigans. I also really enjoyed the footnotes and the fact that she got me researching things like the 100 Gates Project. While at times it was hard to imagine some of the more racy scenarios because I couldn't help but picture my own grandma, it was still a thoroughly enjoyable read. I highly recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sex and the Single Grandma...what a fun read!!!
I truly loved this book, I couldn’t read it fast enough. I laughed at poor Lynn’s expense; {I’m so sorry BTW.}
I read about each suiter and found that a few of the guys I really wanted things to work out. It only made me sad when things went “south”
The addition of the footnotes at the end of each chapter provided ample giggle time as did the interjected interludes. Both brought additional understanding to the story as well as some proof that the craziness of Lynn’s dates really did happen!
I will for sure be on the look out for Lynn’s other book Southern Vapors!
Lynn is a true story teller and I’m so glad my WISH was granted to review the novel. I really enjoyed it!!!
Thanks Green Garnet & NetGalley for the advanced copy of this Excellent Quick read!!
This one gets :😍😂😍😂😍

Sex and the Single Grandma is Lynn S. Garson's account of dating while in your 50's. After a failed marriage, Garson gets back into a much different world of dating then when she last dated 2 decades before. What results is a series of men, one almost stranger than the next, and many laugh out loud moments. The author gets herself into more predicaments then Lucy in "I love Lucy" and in many more dangerous situations. The book serves as a "what not to do" reference book for anyone of a certain age returning to the dating world.

I enjoyed the book immensely and feel that it makes me appreciate my husband more then ever. I appreciated the never-ending but often slap-stick set of foot-notes and intermissions throughout the book. A very quick and easy read, this might be a great book to share with female book clubs.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
