This was a great read, existing at the crossroads of romantic era literature and history. It inspired me to re-read some of the great civil-war era books and reconnect with my love of literature.

it was really interesting to read something from two famous authors before they got famous. It really makes you think about the time period.

So different from what I normally read. I was hooked from the beginning. Had no idea they were like this. Very interesting!

The Mighty Convulsion is a unique look at Walt Whitman and Herman Melville. Both men were wonderful writers of their time and this is a interesting book.

I have lived in a suburb outside of Philadelphia all of my life and take the Walt Whitman bridge when I go to New Jersey. I have always wondered who he was. I picked this book for that reason and was amazed at the insight and talent of Mr. Whitman's writing. Herman Melville also had a large impact, but I was mainly interested in Mr. Whitman's work. This was a great book and I highly recommend it!
