What a page-turner!!!! I am so so so happy to have decided to read it, because let me tell you the truth... I had my doubts about this book. I thought it was going to be childish or a bit too superficial but in the end this was one of the best book I have read so far in 2019! Yes! This is the second book I read from Rachel Dove and she is fast becoming one of my favorite author! This particular book is so well written, and you get hooked up right away and til the end! I read this book in to time!
The romance in this book is so beautiful and the suspense is there! I loved it!
Also in this book, the kid of the main character has diagnosed autism. I thought it was really good that a chicklit book talks about this condition. Very well done Rachel Dove! 5 stars out of 5 for me for this book!!!!!! I can't wait to read her next book!!!!

Way back in 2016 I found, reviewed and shouted about Rachel Dove's first novel set in Westfield - The Chic Boutique on Baker Street. I hoped then that she would return and she has many times and here is her latest (I have caught up with all those in between).

Lucy has gathered her son Xander up and is heading back to Westfield to see her Aunt Marlene. Lucy can no longer cope with the family situation in London. Iain her husband just sees her as cook, cleaner and laundry woman and their son is simply an embarrassment.

Lucy and Xander board the train north.

Sam, having been involved with the birth of a new resident in Westfield decides that he wants to return there. He knows little of his past and now finds he needs to some answers before he could possibly move forward. So packing up his life in London he waves goodbye to the intense work of a firefighter in the capital and opts for a more rural fire station.

Sam boards the train north.

As they sit opposite each other on the train, little do they know that they are all going to need each other as the book goes on.

In Westfield, the local ladies who are hilarious have already decided the answer to Lucy's problems - Sam. It is just how the go about it without them knowing and whether they will be successful.

This is a real slow burn of a romance, whilst Sam sweeps Lucy off her feet on more than one occasion it is the patience and tender care he takes with her son Xander which pulls at the heartstrings. No life is uncomplicated and Lucy whilst she brings the baggage of a failing marriage she is putting her heart into raising her autistic son. This is written with such brutal honesty that you know the author knows exactly what she is talking about.

Whilst there are some real tender moments, there are also some laugh out loud ones and the book is so well balanced your heart will melt just a little bit. As for me well I am in love with Sam and now waiting for him to come and sweep me off my feet.

A great feel good read as all of her previous Westfield novels are.

This book was an ok read but was very slow. It also was a very superficial read and lacked depth.
From early on in the book it was possible to predict the ending correctly
Saying that it is a very easy read perfect for a holiday read

This is the first time that i have read anything by this author, and i can honestly say i loved it.
The story captured my interest from the beginning, the descriptive text used to explain the situations and experiences couldn't have been better (not to give the story line away)
I loved the little family and immediately wanted them to be involved with Sam.
I enjoyed this so much, i have already downloaded another book by Rachel immediately after finishing. :)

Enjoyable read. With great characters. However a bit predictable. Perfect summer read, light hearted
I would say that more chapters were needed rather than the very long ones at the end. Would have made it a bit more enjoyable for me.

This was a really entertaining read. It was different from some others in that the main female character wasn't originally looking for love as she was already married though she leaves in order to get some time alone with her son. The events and characters were relatable and felt realistic. I enjoyed reading this and especially found some of the secondary characters really fun.

I was so excited to read this and oh boy this was a fantastic book! I definitely believe this is Rachel Dove's best book yet. The characters where lovely I just loved them all. The little village sounded so beautiful. This was a real joy to read and is one of my most favourite books this year!

This was a slow romance with great depth to the characters. Sam was a firefighter in search of his birth parents, and Lucy with tiny Xander wanted to figure out what she wanted from her life. Her marriage was falling apart. Both were traveling to the same village Westfield by train. They soon became friends, and their story progressed.

My first book by author Rachel Dove had my heart brimming with love for the characters. Tiny Xander just pulled at my heartstrings and Sam was the perfect guy. (oh how I wanted a Sam in my life)

This book was part of a series, but I could read it easily. The author's writing was simply brilliant. She was sensitive where she needed to be while writing in tough topics, she was humorous at the right places. The emotions overflowed and the book made me extremely happy.

I enjoyed this story and I thought it was a nice romantic read!

I thought that the characters were well developed and that they worked well together and I enjoyed getting to know more about them, and their backgrounds as the book progressed. The only downside and criticism I have is that for me the ending was a little too abrupt and I wish it had been longer.

It is four stars from me for this one, a lovely story to read with some fabulous characters - highly recommended!

I had never read any books by Rachel Dove before, but I was offered an early preview copy of this book from Netgalley. The cover appealed to me, so I thought that I would read it, I'm so glad that I did.
A few pages into the book, and I was captivated, and knew that this was going to be an excellent book. After a short time I suspected that there had been other books by the author, which were set in the same village, and had featured some of the same characters. A little research shoes that this was part of a series, but it was perfectly good as a standalone novel. I will definitely read the other books in the series.
I loved the characters in the book, and despite the book dealing with serious subjects, it did so in a sensitive way. There was plenty of humour, and the book is heart-warming. This book is simply delightful, and I really hope that there will be more books in the series.

Something a little different with a lovely storyline. This was hard to put down and didn't want it to end. I don't think I have ever read Rachel Dove before but I will certainly be looking out for books by her in the future. It dealt with a child with problems very well , I don't want to give anything away but will say please read this book, you will enjoy it very much.

Absolutely lovely, slow burn romance. I think I’m in love with Sam myself and little Xander. Wonderful characters, lovely chemistry, read this in one sitting as you don’t want to put down. My first book by this author but won’t be my last

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

It contains great characters, real life relatable events. I found the book charming and lighthearted. I couldn’t put it down. What a great book- I couldn't put it down.

This is the least favourite book I have read by this author, and I have really enjoyed the previous books in the series.

Good to see the regular secondary characters and catch up with some of the others who were the focus of previous books. But I struggled with the writing in this one, it was very choppy, overly laden with pop culture references and at points I had to go back and re-read sentences/paragraphs because I'd lost the thread of what was going on or who had said what.

Disappointing, hopefully the next one will be back to the author's usual standards.

Great read!
The story of Sam and Lucy. Both are new in the area, and the village matchmakers are on the case again!
