Pirates, magic, and adventure on the high seas will sweep you away. The characters are complex, and I really enjoyed the way the world was set up. Inger is a bit naive, but it fits her character, and doesn't annoy me like it normally would. It just feels right for her. Calder and Dag make a great team, and I love Dag's dedication to protecting her sister at all costs. This is a great opening for a new series, and promises a lot more adventures in future volumes.
