DNF Review
Since I did not finish this book, I am not writing a full review. Basically, I tried to get into this one but it didn't click. I will likely try again at a later date but for now it is a DNF.

Listening to Love by award winning author Beth Wiseman, is Book #2 in her An Amish Journey Series. Even though it is the second book in a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone. This is a contemporary Christian Amish fictional story that is wonderful! It has an intriguing plot and believable characters.

This is the story of Englischer Natalie Collins. She is friends with some Amish among those are Mary and Levi Shetler and his brother, Lucas Shelter. Lucas and Natalie have a lot in common, but they have even more differences.

I loved this book. It tackled so many life lessons. There is a great message of faith. The characters are realistic and well rounded. The main and secondary are all memorable. I wanted to have coffee with them.

There are different storylines within this book. I found it captivating and a true page turner. I enjoy the author’s smooth style of writing and storytelling. The twists and turns are fun surprises. It was so captivating that I read it in one setting!

I highly recommend this extraordinary Amish book. It gets a 5 out of 5 stars from me. A copy was provided by NetGalley but these are my honest words.

This compelling story addresses many issues: including learning to know yourself better, relationships with those who differ from you, judging, taking advantage of others, compromising, being open to change, trusting, and love in families and between a woman and a man. Natalie Collins enjoy her conservative Amish friends but could never imagine herself living like they do. Among her close Amish friends is Lucas Shetler, who has helped her grow in her relationship with God. The two also love books and often meet at the library. The realistic characters and the complex story line with its challenges and surprises offer an enjoyable read. This is the second book in a series, but it can stand alone too. I received a copy from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

This was a really sweet story although not one of my favourites - I found the beginning really good I loved the slow burn romance and deepening of Lucas and Natalie's relationship. The ending was a little rushed for me but I still thought it was a really nice story.

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Why does this sound so cliche? I reread the blurb, and I know that I would likely find Listening to Love boring and highly dislike it afterward … Amish romance readers will enjoy this one but I would not at this time.

I am enjoying catching up with old friends, characters I've met in the first book in this series. Hearts In Harmony .
I appreciate seeing the maturity of this Amish book I've just read. So many Amish books are basically the same story line recycled with a few different Things added for variety.
Not so with this one. There are two different story lines going on here which makes to story have even more to savor.
The plot was quick and easy to read. I read it in less than a day it certainly gripped my attention with it's different story lines as the secrets came to light.
I appreciate the author showing is that yes, there are good and people that have gone astray amongst the Amish as well as the Englisher's.
Different faiths and lifestyles that are not a harmonious match at first come together through trial and error and the faith messages spread through out make this book a real winner.
Honesty, faith, love, hope, forgiveness, understanding and redemption make this book stand out from the others.
Highly recommended!

Lucas Shetler lives in a very strict, old order Amish district. His community hasn't embraced the technologies that some of the other districts have. So, his community lives without phones and refrigerates their food with ice blocks, instead of the propane powered refrigerators that some of the other communities use. Lucas's family, in particular, is intent on staying separate from the outside world. Natalie Collins is just about as far from Amish as a person can get. She grew up with every convenience that she could want but is carrying the pain and heartbreak of broken relationships within her family. She's pursuing a career in veterinary medicine and falling in love with Lucas doesn't fit into her plans at all. As their friendship begins to deepen, both of their families become concerned about their relationship and where it may carry them. They face opposition on both sides. Can they overcome their families objections and their own doubts?

This was such a sweet story and I really enjoyed seeing how Natalie and Lucas progress, not only in their relationship with each other. But, also, in their relationships with their families and friends. They learned that they would have to put aside what others want to pursue what God has in store for them. They learned about forgiving themselves and their families for past hurts. It was a wonderful followup to Hearts in Harmony and I can't wait until book three comes out next year.

Thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of the e-galley. The friends to lovers trope was expanded into a story of love for God and self. This reader appreciated how the prejudices of the mothers were laid bare and then refuted. The con artist character is rare in Amish fiction ( in my experience) and was an intriguing, although frightening part of the plot. Ultimately, the romance between Lucas and Natalie was natural and heartfelt. Readers do not need to have read the first book in the series to understand the relationships in this one.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

5 STARS: 5/5 stars

It's another homerun for author, Beth Wiseman! This book is truly a winner. I was so drawn into the story of the two worlds that collide even as they are pulled together....Englisch and Amish just don't mix when it comes to romance and romance is brewing for Natalie and Lucas, whether they are ready to admit it or not. Readers will enjoy discovering how the couple resolves their friendship. While this is book two in a series, it can easily be read as a stand alone.
I received a free digital version of this book from netgalley and Zondervan Publishing in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my very own.

If she learned anything lately, it was that fear and worry blocked the voice of God.

Englischer Natalie Collins enjoyed her Amish Friends. The simplicity of life comforted her as her life was in a tailspin. Her parents separated, her mother depressed, and Natalie desiring to become a vet and finish school. Her married Amish friends had been most generous to her when they gifted her a valuable piano which she used the money for school. Levi and Mary Shetler always had Natalie and Levi's brother Lucas over for dinner. It was these dinners that a friendship, a much deeper friendship transpired between Natalie and Lucas. Lucas was sharing his faith and with that Natalie became more attracted to Lucas.

Being of different faiths and lifestyles, Natalie's mother expressed her concerns to her daughter while Lucas's mother expressed the same concerns. The mother's came together with their own prejudices and common ground. The relationship must end before someone gets hurt. The plot is driven by the families concerns while Natalie and Lucas must decide who will make the most sacrifices. Will Lucas leave his faith and family to be with Natalie or will Natalie lose her dream for becoming a vet and making something of her life.

Natalie and Lucas both have underlying emotions that they are dealing with. Natalie with the separation of her parents and encouraging her mother to move forward with a job. She does find a job with Lucas' Amish neighbor that leads to a bit of a scandal that only feeds the prejudices of both families. Thru the scandal and pain that love brings, Natalie and Lucas begin to listen to the call of love in their hearts.

A Special Thank You to Zondervan and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest revie

Wow! Beth Wiseman gives us yet another incredible story. Listening to Love was unputdownable. I had to find out what happened next! Natalie is Englisch and Lucas is Amish. They keep telling themselves that they are perfectly content with being friends, despite family and friends telling them otherwise. At first, I didn't really like either mother, but as the story progressed I had to change my mind. And just when I thought I had the story all figured out, the author threw in a huge plot twist. I did not see that coming at all! I recommend this book; you won't regret it! Thank you to Netgalley and Zondervan for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

This second in a series. Continuing to follow Lucas and Natalie as they find explore their feelings for each other. Natalie has changed a lot with the help of Lucas. He has opened her eyes to how much God loves her and she is eager to learn more. The challenges between the couple with much different backgrounds have their families questioning the couple and if the relationship will work. Mary and Levi, Cecelia, and Helen are all against this relationship. Cecelia (Natalies Mom) has her own issues going on with her ex and a new man in her life. Helen (Luscas's mom) finds herself into some business that is none of her own.. With everyone against them will they be able to make a world of their own?

Lucas and Natalie....Amish and English....Oil and Water.....This is the romance that should not be for the Old Order Amish man cannot be in love with the English girl that he has helped to deepen her walk with God. He cannot....OR can they?? The twists and turns of a romance that most feel is not to be will help you to enjoy this couple and the walk they take together. Another wonderful Beth WIseman novel that I thoroughly enjoyed and know that you will also.....SO, get a comfy chair, a warm and fuzzy blanket, your beverage of choice and spend the day enjoying young love!!!

Listening to Love takes us on a sweet journey about friendships, love, and forgiveness.

Natalie Collins has become friends with the Shetler family, especially Lucas. Once a week, on Friday evenings she has supper and conversation with them. Natalie and Lucas share many things in common, one being their love of books. Lucas has helped Natalie grow closer to God with his scriptures and stories.

Natalie wishes to become a vet one day. While Lucas is from the Old Order Amish, he can't help but be drawn closer to Natalie. Everyone around has warned them of this developing relationship.

People don't understand that they are just very close friends...or are they? Didn't God but Lucas in her life to help draw her closer to him? Can their friendship survive the trials ahead?

I received a copy of this book from Zondervan Publishers through NetGalley. All opinions express are of my own.

A great story with many twists especially on the part of Natalie's mum. It's the first time I'm reading anything by this author and I enjoy the way she pulls you into the story. I enjoyed Natalie and Lucas's friendship even with its differences him being Old Order Amish and her Englisch but one thing I really loved was their growth through the whole book even when it seemed like things wouldn't work out, they both worked at trusting God for the best outcome in certain situations even when it doesn't make sense. An emotional story of love, compassionate and forgiveness. I really enjoyed this book.

Beth Wiseman delivers again! Listening to Love is a delightful, uplifting read. I knew Lucas and Natalie would end up together, but I certainly didn't guess the path it would take to get there. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters!

Listening to Love by Beth Wiseman is book two in her An Amish Journey series, though it reads well as a standalone. I’m a fan of Beth Wiseman and was not disappointed with this novel.

Natalie Collins and Lucas Shetler are friends, but their friends and families don’t approve of their friendship because Natalie is an Englisher, non-Amish, and Lucas is Old Order Amish. Natalie and Lucas ignore all the warnings, because Lucas is teaching her about the Christian faith and they’re just friends. Besides, Lucas loves being Amish and could never leave his community for the outside world, and Natalie can’t give up the comfort of modern conveniences. Slowly, Natalie and Lucas start to realize that maybe their friends and families were right, but what can they do about it?

Listening to Love is another great work by a noted bestselling author of the Amish genre. The characters are endearing. The storyline and plot are engaging. I was entertained from start to finish. I rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all readers of chaste romance, especially Amish romance. If you are adverse to religious themes, this is not the book for you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was a sweet and endearing book to me. I loved how the characters of different religious stages in their lives and different understandings come together as friends and how relationships form and become damaged and see whether they have the needed faith to repair the imperfections that exist.

Lucas is a young Amish man who has a special and close friendship with Natalie. As this friendship grows family members become very concerned about this and worry that their friendship will become more. And they have too many differences to make this possible.

I couldn't put this book down. It was so good. The author really draws you in. It's good. Really good.

I received an ebook copy from NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

Listening to Love by Beth Wiseman
Natalie and Lucas, he an Amish man, she an Englischer. Friends for a long time, but fell in love. Love between the two has caused so much tension in both families. Natalie has finally found God’s love with Lucas’s help. There is so many surprises and twists especially with Natalie’s mother. Love and friendship are always present in both families. Outstanding story and I didn’t want it to end.

Although this is book two in the series, it can be a stand-alone. I really loved how the unlikely couple grew their relationship and how it was played out withing the book. It included the story of not only the main characters, but their supporting family members and how they viewed and reacted to the romance.
