Ethan’s life revolves around a society he no longer wanted to be a part of. As he steadily built his empire he met Scarlett. Never thinking he was capable of love he finds that Scarlett will teach him everything he was missing in his life.

Captive Hearts is the second book in the Hearts on Fire series. It is a stand alone book, but I recommend reading the first book in the series. I enjoyed the development of Scarlett and Ethan’s story. I love books set in London and the author did a beautiful job of capturing the city.

Captive Hearts, second in L.M. Connolly’s Hearts On Fire series, was quite an enjoyable read without setting my heart on fire. Set mostly in London with the high end hotel industry as a backdrop this story brings together Noir Group chief executive officer Ethan Black and struggling boutique hotelier Scarlett Woodward.
Both Scarlett and Ethan are likeable characters and Scarlett was fairly easy to identify with. The supporting cast in the form of Ethan’s family was over the top awful. Truly I struggled to imagine people could be so poisonous, but perhaps I live in a sheltered world.
The story flowed fairly well and while on the sexy side I found the bedroom scenes rather contrived. That aside overall I did enjoy this book.

Loved this second in series! Ethan's and Scarlett's story was terrific and I am looking forward to more related stories. They had a great intro to each other that led to misunderstandings and potential drama and the corporate intrigue of the Noir group was great. Ethan's dad alone -- what a cad. Most of the characters, not just the H/h, were multifaceted, which made the story much more engaging. This is particularly true of Ethan's former lover Willow and one of the women his father tries to marry him off to, Violet. This made the story more enjoyable. Both Ethan and Scarlett were strong and opinionated and I enjoyed their sparring and seeing a strong woman take on a positive role not only in the relationship but in business. I really liked the epilogue where we saw them working hard to balance family and career.

CAPTIVE HEARTS caught my attention early on and never let go. Scarlett is in trouble and she knows it. Keeping her family hotel afloat is becoming more difficult by the day. In fact, since she only has one guest she’s let the rest of the staff have the time off. That might have been a mistake or perhaps fate stepping in and setting the stage for a whirlwind romance with an undercover hotel tycoon out to prove himself on his own.

I’m enjoying the Racing Hearts series. Three brothers who seem to have the most amazing situations happen to them and those they care about. Although I’ll always recommend reading a series in order, if you cannot for whatever reason, this story can stand on its own quite well.

The chemistry between Evan and Scarlett is off the charts, even after she discovered exactly what he was doing at her hotel that fateful night. This story is full of misunderstandings, a family that cares more about their company bottom line than about anything else, one man’s choice to live his life differently and a sudden baby as a result of the best moment of his life so far. It’s emotional on many levels, steamy where needed with a really good story to be told. I had fun with this one and would not hesitate to recommend it to other Romance readers.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Not sure if this is part of a series as there was mention of Ethan's brother Ronan and his wife but it was easy to read as a stand alone and a great story line!

Ethan and Scarlett just seemed to fit so well and they were made for each other. You can just see that Scarlett could not help but fall for Ethan even as he remained somewhat emotionally detached. Things seemed to happen pretty quickly when Scarlett leaves and goes back to London.

I loved when Ethan finally woke up and got his act together and loved their HEA!

I really enjoyed this one. It's a steamy intriguing romance between Scarlett and Evan. Scarlett is struggling to keep her little hotel up and running but times are tough and she's drowning. Evan Black comes to stay at her hotel trying to gather intel undercover. He wants to buy the hotel but doesn't want to let Scarlett know yet. When an incident leaves them alone in the dark the sizzling chemistry between them can no longer be denied. Their story is fun, sexy, and not to be missed! I highly recommend this book.

Captive Hearts is Hearts on Fire Book 2 by L.M. Connolly. It is another billionaire romance with a surprise coming after a one night stand. Circumstances lead the couple to find comfort together after the lights go off. Now the future of a hotel is at stake as well as another life.

Ethan is likable enough as he has gone “undercover” to scout out a future hotel acquisition. Why not just go as the person he is, why all the secretiveness? I ask but of course I have no real dealing with the rich and famous, so I don’t really know what their life is like. Scarlett is the struggling hotel owner. The conflict comes from family not the hotel acquisition deal. Of course, Scarlett is more than willing to share the hotel, her heart not so much.

For those loving romance fantasy where the poor girl gets the rich boy this is a must read.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This sizzling hot romance set among the world of luxury hotel owners and those who surround them.

When I saw this was the second installment in the Hearts on Fire series, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. It did not disappoint. Scarlett and Ethan were definitely on fire. I just felt bad for Scarlett through a lot of the story. Ethan was more focused on his career and he even told Scarlett he could never love her, but he still wanted to marry her. But then, Ethan would turn around and do something totally unexpected and romantic and I thought he was changing, only for him to revert back to his impassive ways again. But in the end, it was a complete turn-around. Ethan was redeemed and him and Scarlett got their happily ever after. I enjoyed the settings of London and New York. The bedroom scenes are not for the faint of heart. They were very explosive. But you won’t hear me complaining. All around it was a good story with lots of passion, luxuriousness and family drama.

A well written contemporary romance that follows the slow burning relationship between Scarlett and Ethan.

Ethan stays at Scarlett's hotel under a pseudonym in order to scope out a potential business venture. As it's a slow night, Scarlett sends her staff home to save on wages. An electrifying connection is evident between both characters though their ideals and goals may not align. So what happens when they can't deny their feelings and they give into their attraction?

Both are relatable and likeable characters, which makes Captive Hearts an easy and enjoyable and very well written read.

Perfect for fans of the genre.

Ethan has a hard time trusting people. So Scarlett is a puzzle. He feels he can trust her practically from the beginning. I enjoyed this book and will be telling all of my friends to read, Captive Hearts.

Sooooooo much better than the first book in the series! While I enjoyed the second half of Racing Hearts, it did get off to a rocky start, so I wasn’t sure what to expect with Captive Hearts. When NetGalley offered me an ARC in exchange for an honest review, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give the next book in the series a chance and I am so glad that I did. Captive Hearts follows Scarlett, the owner of a hotel in London that has seen better days. The hotel has been in her family for generations, but it has fallen into disrepair and she’s not sure if she’ll have the money to give it the improvements it needs. Ethan, the CEO of a chain of hotels, sees Scarlett’s hotel as a great investment opportunity, and he decides to spend the weekend there under an alias to check it out in secret. It’s a slow weekend, so they end up being the only ones in the small hotel, and sparks fly almost immediately. It doesn’t take long for Ethan to regret the circumstances in which he met Scarlett, because he feels a real connection to her but their interests don’t align.

I really loved the connection that was established between the two during their time alone in the hotel. The sole focus of the book for an extended period of time is just the couple and they are constantly together. It created a solid foundation and showed the chemistry between the two. Obviously, there were some obstacles in their path following the initial meeting, but the book doesn’t get overly angsty. The tone stays pretty light, even when there is struggle. Both Scarlett and Ethan are very likeable, and I was rooting for them from the beginning. It’s a sweet but steamy read full of romance.

After reading one chapter I had already knew this wasn't a keeper. The characters and their relationship was too instant for me, the storyline was dull and boring, and I felt not one ounce of remorse when I decided to drop this series. Wasn't worth the time nor energy to finish something I wasn't able to connect with.

I've been meaning to read one of Lynne Connolly's books for quite some time and somehow managed to start reading one without realising that I was. This title is part of the Hearts of Fire series and released under the name L.M. Connolly. Unlike some of her other work, this is a contemporary, rather than historical romance.
The Hearts on Fire Series follows three brothers who share the same mother but grew up separately. I haven't read the first book Racing Hearts, but this is the kind of series where it really doesn't matter. Although the main character mentions his brothers and mother, we don't really 'see' them in this book and it works well as a stand-alone story.
Hotel owner Scarlett Woodward is struggling to keep her business afloat. On the day that she opens a letter containing an eye-watering offer for the place, she finds herself alone in the hotel. With no guests, her staff are all at home and when the mysterious Evan turns up, she soon finds herself drawn to him. Evan isn't all that he seems, he is actually Ethan Black, director of his family hotel business and mega rich. He's also the person looking to buy her hotel.
This romance story contains quite a few of the elements that often crop up in romances: A very wealthy hero, an arranged marriage, an unexpected baby, evil family members trying to keep them apart, a hero who thinks that he can't love. But it doesn't matter, together it all works well and I enjoyed reading about the romance between Ethan and Scarlett work well as a couple together. Ethan is quite sweet most of the time, (when he's not being too Alpha) and Scarlett can certainly stand up for herself and be her own woman.
There were a couple of times I was a little confused, as it seemed that they were talking as if something that had just been established hadn't actually happened. That was perhaps my misunderstanding though.
This was an enjoyable read and while it might be my first LM Connolly/Lynne Connolly read, I'm sure that it won't be my last.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
