A very well-crafted and researched read on what communication is so difficult. Ian Marsh makes a great point that we shouldn't be so surprised that it's difficult to communicate even within married couples who can normally finish each other's sentences. There is a great amount of data and research in here. I particularly like the "Reflection" sections and the neuroscience section in Part 2.
However, I found this book a bit difficult to read. It's written in very stilted language ("cannot' vs 'can't' and a lack of contractions throughout). I was trying to think of who the target audience of this book would be as it may be a bit tough to work through for your average reader. This would be a great addition to a college course on communication as it does have great information and I could see plenty of times when the information within would be useful. It might be more suited to someone looking for a more academic take on today's communication issues.

I didn’t enjoy this as much as I though I might when I read the description so this was a DNF for me. I can see other reviewers enjoyed it though so I am probably in the minority, I probably needed a lighter read or was tired, I was put off within the first 10-%. I am grateful though that I was given the opportunity to review, thank you Netgalley and publisher.

Either I did not know how to read this right or something is missing. I took this in a heart beat since I love communication books and the title was quite interesting, I was just wondering how can i communicate well with my manager. Unfortunately, i was confused most of the book. I found no real information there. his life experience was nice to read but ultimately I did not get it.

For example, I went through a paragraphed where the small title was in no relation. So why did they pick that I dont know. ! again I could be reading this book wrong since i see so many satisfied previews.

the author seems lovely and I'm so thankful for the opportunity, I hope my opinion is not going to effect him in regards of writing. I wrote what I felt right for me

Nice book to get your head around different communication obstacles. I like that author provides a lot of life examples based on own experience. This makes the book very personal. Many cultural moments are covered as well. Nice a relaxed reading.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Very informative and relatable, it was easy for the reader to make the most and put into practice what was being relayed.
As a upcoming graduate most of what was being said was easy to relate to and I can already see a benefit in my social circles due to reading this book.
I have already recommended this book to many of my friends (students) as I feel there are some interesting points that can be taken away from it.
This is a book that everyone should have on their bookshelf and can delve into whenever they feel they need a prompt. 100% a book I would pick up again and again and recommend to others.

This book is more based around life experience and research. I think the author did a really good breaking every point down. From this book, you will take a step back and self-evaluate your communication skill.
