I enjoyed this book quite a bit, as I had never read such a thorough treatment on Babylon as it's depicted in prophetic writings. I came away with what I feel is a much better understanding. The Bible's prophetic writings, particularly Revelation, can be tough for me to wrap my head around. I have read numerous end-time books and explanations of the events of Revelations, and didn't feel like I made much progress. Author Ron Rhodes gives a thorough and convincing analysis of how New Babylon will come about and what it's future will be, sans sensationalism, which I appreciated greatly. As such, it's not a "page turner", but I'm giving it 5 stars nonetheless because it's thorough and will clear up some of the mystery regarding Babylon in the Bible. Recommended.

New Babylon is one element of the coming end-time events that I had never studied or even considered in depth. I had read other books that briefly touched on it, but they were mostly of the opinion that ‘Babylon’ was a coded reference to Rome. So I went into this book fairly open to the concept, but still needed to be convinced that the author’s view was correct, and he convinced me.
Rhodes takes us to Revelation and shows us how the plain literal grammatical reading of the text demands a physical city, an actual rebuilt Babylon. Drawing from numerous books in the Old and New Testaments, he helps us develop a timeline of end-time events to help us place Babylon in its proper Biblical perspective. He also briefly explains Babylon’s spiritual and political history as it relates to the Bible and its future. To do that, he draws from secular and Biblical historians.
The last few chapters help us understand the correct response to Biblical prophecy by both saved and unsaved people. I especially appreciated the last appendix’s explanation of the literal interpretation of Scripture. Please let me recommend that you be sure to read this appendix.
The only negative I have about this book is that it is a tad repetitive. I would still recommend it for everyone. It will help you understand God’s plan for the future, and encourage your walk with Him.
I received this as a free ARC through NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers. No favorable review was required. It was my pleasure to provide my honest opinions.

Whether you’re just beginning to study about end-times prophecy or you’ve been studying for many years, this book has something for both groups of readers. I had not read a book by this author before, and I liked the readable, engaging way he presents his viewpoint of end-time events.

It’s fascinating reading about the two aspects of Babylon-spiritual and commercial-and how that will impact the future of the coming world events. He offers many scriptures for our consideration and clearly explains his reasoning for his conclusions. I also liked the fact that his attitude through the book is not condescending towards others who have differing viewpoints. He treats their conclusions with respect for the person, but defends his position in a considerate manner. I was challenged by this quote towards the end of the book: “Live your life as if the rapture could happen today, but plan for your entire lifetime expectancy. That way you are prepared for both time and eternity.” I’m glad to have this book in my shelf so that I can refer back to it when I study Bible prophecy.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I have just finished reading NEW BABYLON RISING by RON RHODES. What a really special book! The author has not only given us an understanding of end times prophecy with regard to the arising of New Babylon, but he has also given us a message of hope in showing us what to do with what we learn. He has given us a clear timeline of the Rapture and Tribulation periods (although of course the actual dates are only known to God) and shown us from Scripture what we should look out for along the way.
I especially like the way he makes Scripture so clear to us, and how he says grammar is important in understanding the Word.
I also like the way he gives those who have not yet made a commitment to follow the Lord and who want to belong to Him, the chance to do so at the end of the book. We are encouraged to live the kind of life that will lead to eternity with Father God rather than to follow the lure of sin.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious in their Christian walk and who is interested in end time prophecy, and to those who are searching for more meaning in life.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Harvest House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

I received this book from Net Galley for the purpose of review.

Ron Rhodes is a dedicated speaker well read in the area of prophecy. He has engaged himself in Old Testament books of Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and New Testament of 2 Thessalonians, Jude and Revelation.

The culture of the day leads one to better understand why Biblical scholars indicate that we truly are in "last days". He is not so foolish as to set dates but rather give additional thought, study and time to helping believers and non-believers understand the importance of knowing God's word.

Bible prophecy has been around for years; some has been grounded in Biblical knowledge and others in feelings with a little knowledge. God's word makes it abundantly clear that we do not know the day or the hour but only the Father knows.

Read the book. Enjoy and allow yourself to study and follow Ron Rhodes very well written book to understand even a glimpse of the glory that awaits those who believe in the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to rule and reign on the earth.

Well written but nothing new either in evidence or interpretation for me. It was just not what I was looking for personally.

This book was just okay. It was very repetitive and I didn't learn anything that I haven't already read somewhere. Disappointing read.
