Tuesday Mooney likes to be alone. She doesn't have many friends, she doesn't leave her house much, and that's alright with her. But when an eccentric billionaire dies and leaves his fortune to whoever can beat his weird treasure hunt throughout Boston, puzzle-loving Tuesday joins up with a crew of misfits to ferret out the clues. With teams throughout the city vying for the prize, Tuesday and company must work quickly, but what they discover is way more dangerous than a silly little scavenger hunt.

I have to admit, this book threw me. Based on the title, I went in thinking it was going to be one way--a woman who talks to ghosts--but really it was a woman getting to the bottom of a mystery, who occasionally believes she can talk to her dead best friend from childhood. I didn't find myself connecting to this story at all. I wasn't invested in any of the characters or even the plot itself. I was even skimming through parts because I was just bored. The premise could've been really cool, but I just don't think it was executed in the best way.

What a ridiculously fun book! I love a good mystery, and this one doesn't fail. Tuesday is such a fun character. I'm a fan of an eccentric, goth-type. I was drawn to her instantly, and Dex is a good supporting character filled with personality.

I really liked the adventure of Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts. I was left guessing often enough (maybe that's because I don't usually read mystery) that it kept me coming back and reading past my bedtime. I have a handful of patrons off the top of my head that I know will really enjoy this novel, so I will definitely be purchasing it for my library. Thank you so much!

I haven't read the Westing Game for years, but the comparison definitely jumped out at me as I started Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts. Eccentric rich man dies, leaves elaborate treasure hunt for the city of Boston to participate in to gain part of his wealth. Tuesday puts her highly-tuned and obsessive research skills to work from her career as a fundraising researcher, her friend Dex who was born for the stage but is stagnating in a high finance career breaks out of his habits to play along. Add in the mysteriously wealthy and potentially evil Arches family, a facebook group of crowdsourced game information, Tuesday's teen neighbor, a hidden theatre beneath the Steinway piano shop, and about twelve other plot layers, and you have Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts. I loved it! But I can see how it would be rather a bit too much for some readers. It was really grounded in the sense of place, which as a former Boston resident, I enjoyed. And of course, ghosts are talked to in the course of this story. Worth picking up if you like an adventure and want to go along for the ride.

This mystery within a mystery is full of twists and turns. The mystery of the wealthy family is somewhat predictable, but the overall mystery game is not. The ending is done nicely to allow for a possible sequel. Great read!

I really enjoyed reading this book! I loved the characters (maybe identifying a bit too much with Tuesday...?) and I adored the setting - Boston itself was practically a character! The pacing was good although jumping back and forth through time was a bit jarring and it sometimes took me out of the story trying to figure out when this was happening. I loved solving the clues, too - sometimes before the characters did. It was a fun summer read and I’d love to recommend it to anyone who loves mystery, friendship, and the great city of Boston!

This was a relaxing feelgood read, it felt like a mix of Ready Player One and Tales of the City.

The mysterious Vincent Pryce dies and leaves his fortune as a treasure hunt in Boston. Tuesday, with her friends both living and dead strives to find her fortune. The plot follows a satisfying arc of the team coming together and then falling apart to reunite to triumph in the end.

The ending may be seen as cheesy and the idea of people coming together for the common good is something we need more of in these strange times.

I would read more by this author and will keep an eye out for her in the future.

Thank you to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for the E-arc copy of this novel. Tuesday Mooney is a delightful and clever character, but the entire cast of quirky crew is unforgettable. The epic adventure and fun puzzles are exciting. The twists are fun and the book is a great read.

Introverted, conspiracy tv watching, Tuesday Mooney finally gets off the couch when an eccentric Boston millionaire, Vincent Pryce leaves behind a baffling treasure hunt, with clues from Edgar Allan Poe stories, that will lead a luck winner to Pryce’s fortune. Tuesday and a rag-tag group of friends set out to solve the clues that will lead them to their prize, but there are others out searching for the prize as well, and some of them will not play nice. This is a beautifully written, exciting story for the child in all of us, for those who have never forgotten the dream of finding treasure
