Two years since publication and it’s probably time to admit that this one has slipped by me. I am a human and cannot read everything even when I want to, my deepest apologies.

Netgalley Review:

This was a solid Georgia Beers book. It was easy and enjoyable to read. My only critiques are that Dana, one of the main characters was kind of an incredibly bad agent/ manager which seemed glaring. Also, there was an ex from hell who is redeemed. I don't really know where or how she could have gotten to redmption? 3 stars.

I just want to state, for the record, that I started reading this book while waiting for my garage to dry and that, before I knew it I was turning the last page, it was dusk, needless to say my garage was dry, and I had to rush to put everything back in its place before it was dark out.

Thank you, Ms. Beers, for continually crafting love stories that help me lose myself, particularly in these trying political times.

5/5

Going into this book I was expecting it to love it. Not only because it was Georgia Beers but because I am a sucker for celebrity romances. And I have to say I was not disappointed. This book was exactly what I expected.

This book was a perfect romance, cute, sexy and I absolutely loved it. The chemistry was great and did not feel forced at all. The book was engaging all throughout.

Another great book by a great writer!

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

This is a great book to read on a rainy, summers evening. Very well written and loved the "coming out" of one of the main characters. Definitely recommend it!

I loved this!!!

Sophie James, a famous singer, has been in the spotlight since she was a teenager. Following devastating news she is assigned a new manager by her music label. Dana Landon has had her heartbroken but she is soldiering on. When she meets Sophie James and starts managing her career, they strike up quite the friendship – beyond professional. But neither are sure of what the feelings they are experiencing mean, and it certainly isn’t as straightforward as either of them would hope when things start to develop further.

This was an amazing, sweet, and very heartfelt story. The complication of being in a professional working relationship that ends up developing into something more complicated is never straight forward, but when in the spotlight as a much loved, good girl, celebrity, it is even more complex. The fact that this story was packed with millions of cute, intimate romantic moments, but that underlying uncertainty as to whether a bubble could be burst at any moment made this such a gripping read. I was completely invested from the very first chapter, loving the premise and the way the story was written with such vulnerability from both character points of view. It was truly beautiful, engaging, and just a lovely story to read.

I wanna hear the whole song though!

Sophie and Dana had one of those chemistries that just always fits with age gaps, and is totally determined by the difference in age by them. Both are vulnerable and a little unsecure – for very different reasons, but both of them can understand the others reasons, feelings, and in some respects it makes them both hold back a little. I loved the way they interacted though, like puzzle pieces, just fitting together perfectly. They were so cute together, and the hesitance between them because of pasts, professional relationship, and ages wasn’t going to get in their way but it did ground them, making their relationship very realistic and relatable.

Absolutely adored this story! I really hope we see more from Sophie and Dana in future because I totally love them.

I forgot to review this back when I read the book, so while I won't go into many details, the feeling remains: I enjoyed this book thoroughly. There's something about wlw romance books where one of the girls is a celebrity that just makes me go "yassss give me more!"

This book has a singer and her new agent falling in love, it's super sweet and done in this kind of slow burn way that I enjoy so much. Plus, the conflict in the book was enough to make me not want to put it down (but in a good way, it wasn't overly dramatic or related to them as a couple).

All in all, kudos to the writer, the story was awesome and I want to read more of her :)

This is a very good romance. I love all of Ms. Beers books and looked forward to reading and reviewing Fear of Falling. As with her others, this story is well planned and has a pleasing pace. Her characters are well developed and believable.

There are two main characters in Fear of Falling. Sophie James is a world-renowned singing star. Her career began at age 14. Until his recent death, Ray, her manager, took care of all day-to-day responsibilities of the super star. Sophie also looked upon him as a father figure. At the very beginning of the book we learn that he has passed away. Sophie is lost and grieving.

The management at Sophie’s record company decides that she needs a manager and PR person. Dana Landan is hired for the task. She is sophisticated, beautiful and excellent at her job. Dana learns quickly that Sophie is not a spoiled star. Instead, Dana sees her as a sweet, gentle woman who wants to make some changes to the type of songs she will be singing in the future.

Dana is attracted to Sophie, but she is a client and appears to be straight! For years, Sophie has buried her attraction to women. Her career came first and the men she dated were only escorts. When Sophie meets Dana, however, she is drawn to Dana. The chemistry between them is wonderful and it is fun to see their relationship develop.

Fear of Falling is a very good book. I recommend this book and give it 4.25 out of 5 stars.

I was given this ARC in return for a fair and honest review.

Torrid sex scenes, a music industry setting and main characters Sophie and Dana sizzle in a romance that compels you to keep reading. Ms. Beers rarely disappoints and this book's a winner!!
Highly recommend with 5 stars.

Love everything Georgia Beers ever writes. I like music and celebrity stories so this was great for me. This is a feel good romance and I loved it.

I enjoyed the journey of Sophie finding her new self after losing her long time manager, Ray. Sophie and Dana are both likable characters that had good chemistry. I enjoyed their interactions throughout the book and watching their connection continue to grow. I will admit I wasn't sure that Dana did much as her Manager but I appreciate that wasn't the main goal.

I was very excited to see that the book had an epilogue, I love Georgia Beers but always feel frustrated that she doesn't often have an epilogue and I have to say I found it perfectly rounded this book out.

I have read many of Ms. Beers novels and this one is right up there in a great read. The characters are well developed and both have some baggage, that plays to the angst of the book.

Sophie is a young (late 20's) singer that plays to an older crowd. She was sheltered all through her music career by her manager, who was very much like a farther figure for her. When he passes away unexpectedly, a new label manager is brought in, Dana, a no-nonsense manager that doesn't put up with much. As both grow closer in feelings (Sophie a bit slower since this is her first time of deep feelings for a woman), Dana's ex shows up and wants her back.

At first I wasn't sure if I would like Dana, especially when her ex was back in the picture and she seemed to be so on the fence for her feelings for both women, but in the end I came around to liking the character (maybe because she picked the right women :-)).

Like others I did feel the ending was a bit 'thin' but overall I enjoyed the story and actually finished it in one reading (yeah took a few hours but was worth it).

As always I will look for more books by Ms. Beers since she is one of my favorite authors.

This is the story about the worldwide famous singer Sophie James. When her manager and somewhat father figure Ray passes away, he's replaced with a new manager, Dana Landon. Dana and Sophie's relationship quickly developes into a friendship and soon into something more.

This is my second Georgia Beers book but I knew while reading the first one that she was quickly gonna become a favorite author of mine.

Everything about her books are fantastic, the characters, the chemistry, the setting, the writing. I enjoyed this book a lot, both the characters were very likable and the chemistry between them was great. It had everything a good romance novel should have.

I'm not always a fan of the typical ''annoying'' ex trope but in this book it was fine. It ended well and it didn't ruin the story like it easily can in other cases.

The only thing I felt was missing was I hoped the author would've gone more in depth about the main character Sophie's relationship with her mother. We knew they didn't have the strongest relationship and that her mother wasn't super involved in Sophie's life but I would've still liked to see a little more of it. I would've liked to maybe see the mother's reaction to her coming out and everything but other than that it was great.

I would definently recommend this to anyone and everyone. It's a very easy and easy but also captivating and amazing read. I know I'll be re-reading this in the future.

A feel good "celebrity coming out story." (If only it was as easy and successful these stories make it.)
Georgia Beers is one of my favorite author's. I have read all of her books and wait anxiously for each of her next books.. unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed in this story. I feel it is a nice light summer read.
The 2 main characters are very likeable and of course you want them to be together. But each is "afraid of falling" in love.. And that is basically the story. I felt the first 25% of the book was a bit slow but then picked up. But even then it was basically a very small and predictable story.
(Still waiting anxiously for Bear's next one)

What Can I Say?
Before I started reading this book, I was wondering how this book would be different from the many other books that have been written in this genre. Georgia Beers does a wonderful job of building the characters such that you have no choice but to root for them! Sophie, is a 29 year old singer who has a wholesome image that appeals to her 'Adult Contemporary' fan base. When Sophie loses her manager, she copes with the grief with a few drunk meltdowns. These incidents lead the record company to assign Sophie a new publicist and manager, Dana.
When Dana meets Sophie, she expects to meet a diva but is pleasantry surprised that Sophie is not what she expected....and oh, the chemistry! As the two spend more time with each other, they are both unable to deny how much they are attracted to each other. For Sophie, pursuing a relationship with a woman is completely new territory and she struggles with how to navigate this given that she is not out and is concerned about the impact dating a woman would have on her career. On the other hand, Dana knows that she is very attracted to Sophie but when her ex comes back into town asking for a second chance, she is tempted to go with the 'familiar' rather than pursue something new with Sophie.
Ms. Beers has mastered the art of story telling that simply draws you in with the different struggles the two main characters had. What can I say? I can definitely say that this is a good read - go for it!!

Fear of Falling was my 16th Georgia Beers. I had taken a wee break after Calendar Girl because I was losing the love for the stories she was producing. This one, set in the music world seemed like a safe bet (celeb stories usually do well).

And it was an enjoyable read. Beers is capable of writing a solid romance with plenty of fluff and a bit of spice. Did she bring something new and exciting to the table? Not really. But the true romance fans will lap it all up. The story was fairly predictable but because it’s packaged so nice we forgive her. Not much angst and no scene-stealing dogs this time.

f/f explicit

Themes: celeb, suffered a loss, sheltered youth, greedy mom, thanksgiving with the family, an ex with an agenda, coming out, no pets.

Sophie is an adult contemporary singer who presents with the clean image and powerful vocals. Sophie loves words and likes to write phrases and sentences. She works with the music company and Ray who keeps her in line with the image they wish her to project. When Ray dies Sophie is at a complete loss because to her he was her family. Sophie begins to spin out of control drinking heavily and not caring about public opinion. Her record company cares very much and they put Dana on as her manager with the caveat to clean up Sophie’s image and get her back on track. Sophie and Dana have an instant connection especially Dana who is an out lesbian and just got over a year long morning for the break up of her long-term relationship with Laura.
Little by little Sophie begins to trust Dana and she decides now is the time to try to change her image and request that some of her songs be included in her next album. People working close to Sophie agree especially her music team and Dana. When the head of record company sees the new look he becomes upset and told Sophie to get back to her original look and again commissioned Dana to make this happen.
As Sophie and Dana are beginning to become more then business associates in walks ex partner Laura who is determined to win Dana back. Dana remind Laura that she left her a year ago for a job across the country and never look back and no contact In between, but Laura will do anything and everything to make Dana see that she’s a changed person and that their relationship should continue.
Sophie asked Dana to give their relationship a chance, but can she? Can Sophie except being a lesbian? Well Laura with all of her push to get Dana back be successful? Can Dana trust either of them not to break her heart?

As is typical for Georgia Beer’s book this is excellently written with characters that are well developed, it’s a terrific read And very hard to put down once you start reading.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. There were times when I really loved this book, and times when I was exceedingly frustrated. I loved the chemistry and connection between Dana and Sophie, but the introduction to Dana's ex was ridiculous at times. During Thanksgiving, Dana didn't think of her once, and then the next day she is unsure and confused about whether or not she should give her a second chance. It seemed that the pull Dana's ex had over her told me that she wasn't all that into Sophie, which bothered me as the reader could tell how much Sophie wanted Dana. This would have been a fantastic read if Dana's ex did not come back into her life.

Georgia Beers does it again!

When superstar Sophie James loses her manager, and the only father figure she's ever known, to a heart attack, she finds herself floundering. She struggles with her grief and how to take her career where she wants to go. When Dana is hired by the record label as Sophie's new manager, she's expecting a spoiled and obnoxious diva, but the two women connect in ways that neither suspected. Will Dana be able to do the job she's instructed to do, or does Sophie have ideas of her own for work? And will their attraction only muddy the waters further?

Ah, this was just the perfect romance, with sweeping gestures and sizzling chemistry! Highly recommend this book, and everything else by this talented author. Not only did Georgia Beer write a beautiful story, but she also wrote some brilliant songs. I love a good celebrity romance and this one was both good fun and tugged at your heartstrings. This is a light sweet romance, nicely paced, with a little bit of drama in the midst. I loved the characters in this book, Sophie and Dana are such strong and talented women. I loved Sophie's evolution into the singer and the person she wanted to be, that took great strength, It was portrayed beautifully. The dialogue is always so stellar, it always feels like you're right in the middle of everything.

I'm already counting the days until Beer's next book!
