If it wasn't for bad luck, then Charlene wouldn't have any. Out of Luck, if full of so much suspense. Every chapter had something new.

Charlene and her father have never lived in one place for too long. When he is stabbed, in front of Charlene, in New Orleans, she finds out her whole life was a lie. Now searching for the truth she must go to Cuba to find out about herself. Marshall was in the Navy but now he takes people out in the ocean to fish. Charlene hires him to take her on an illegal trip to Cuba. When she gets taken, Marshall will do anything to get her back, even though they just met. Can Charlene find out her past and who killed her father or will her past catch up to her?
Good story. Action, suspense, and sex. The only thing that confused me was about her father.

Charlene Bailey and her father, Peter, lived off the grid, migrating every six months to a different city and different cash-only jobs. At 28, it was the only life Charlene knew and she loved it.

Although author Kendall Talbot paints Charlene as much more naive and dependent than most 28 year olds, Charlene’s immaturity dissipates when her father is killed in front of her at a New Orleans restaurant. Immature Charlene becomes tough, street-wise Charlene who sets off on a journey to discover her real past and true parentage, which she learns may be found in Cuba.

Without a passport or any I.D, Charlene heads to Key West, and hires cynical, worn out, Navy vet, Marshall Crow, to take her on his boat.

A jarring note to the story is Talbot’s overuse of unnecessary cliches. Nonetheless, her complex, fascinating plot combined with her ability to create believable characters kept me glued to the book.

I opened this book , never having read this author or any of her books ! I am so thrilled I found s new author to read!
Charlene has lived a nomad life, constantly moving and forever staying off the grid, after Charlene’s dad is murdered right before her eyes, she starts to ask herself the tough questions, why? And who is she really? Having moved every few months , she has no birth certificate, nor ID, and now she is all alone in the world
Marshall is retired military , a true loner. Charlene hires him to smuggle her into Cuba.
This book had it all romance, mystery, action and adventure as Charlene and Marshall unravel the past to secure her a future.
This book was so unexpected ( in such a good way ) for me. I loved the story and Charlene and Marshall were a great combination! This book moved fast and I had to fight myself to slow down, I didn’t want it to end .
While this is my first Kendall Talbot book, it will not be my last, as my plan is to binge read her previous books !
