Boing… The prologue was like being hit with a sledgehammer and I was hooked.

This is not a book you should read when you are tired and already half asleep. This story needs the full 100% of your attention. Well, to be honest every book deserves this of course, but here you really need to keep your eye on the ball. The author lets Beth, Victoria and Lydia do all the talking so we get three points of view and on top of that she allows the three ladies to take us to back to the past while keeping us entertained in the present at the same time. You absolutely must pay attention.

I must admit it was a bit confusing in the beginning, but every chapter has a title explaining which lady is speaking and whether we are in the past or the present. It was a very good workout for my brain. 😊

Now, about the story. It was great. I loved every bit of it. I was dying to find out what happened to each of the ladies, and I could not tear myself away from the book.

And then, at last. Those final chapters where everything becomes crystal clear. Let me tell you, I could not believe my eyes.

This author is an amazing storyteller. This is an amazing book. 5 stars

Thank you

A true, well-written mystery, What She Did kept me guessing until the very end.

Synopsis:
Beth

Beth is a woman running from her demons. Moving to Glasgow to escape the tragedy that destroyed her – a tragedy that ended with the death of her ex-boyfriend – she’s trying to build a new life, to tentatively find new love. But her past seems to follow her, and try as she might, she can’t shake the feeling that someone is watching her every move.

Victoria

Victoria is unhappily married to Greg. On their wedding day he told her he would love her until they grew old, but now he’s becoming secretive, staying out for ‘business meetings’ and growing further and further away from his wife. After finding incriminating evidence on his phone, Victoria contacts an old friend for support – the one person in her life that has never let her down yet. She knows her friend will discover the truth – at all costs.

Lydia

Lydia knows she is the one person that can help Victoria. Jumping straight back into their friendship, despite the four-year absence from Victoria’s life, she vows to stop at nothing to help her get revenge. Good friends will do anything for each other, right? But Lydia has made a new friend in Beth. And now, neither of them is safe… Three women. Three stories. One secret to bind them all. A shocking, darkly gripping psychological with a twist in the tale that will leave you open mouthed. Fans of BA Paris, Lisa Hall and Gone Girl won’t be able to put this one down…

I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first encounter with this author so I was unsure what to expect. I was a bit confused initially as the story switches between 3 different characters and past and present timelines. There's a lot to keep up with! However I really enjoyed the story and I loved the twist at the end. I should have expected it, looking back, but I didn't so it was a great surprise!

3.5 stars for this psychological thriller about psychologically/emotionally damaged women who have been in toxic relationships and are very, sickly guarded about their current relationships as past and present collide. A good read.

Wow, couldn't put this down! I loved the twist at the end and didn't expect it at all. All of the characters are complex and flawed but that makes for compelling reading.

After a restless night not being able to sleep I decided to have a flick through my kindle and found this beauty at 3am.

What I didn't expect was to sit there reading this book from start to finish. I literally couldn't put this book down. Being a fan of the author I went into this with my eyes closed. Another one I didn't read the blurb.

What She Did is a story that is told from three women's POV. Beth, Victoria and Lydia. It also alternates from the past and present, weaving an incredible twisty pulse racing story.

It is utterly addictive, with an OMG opening I was well and truly hooked. This is one very intense read.I freaking loved it and I actually wish that I had read it sooner. I can't believe it has been on my pile for 18 months. It has totally blown my mind.

This is a must read for psychological thriller fans. I cannot recommend it enough.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Based around three women Beth, Lydia and Victoria all of whom have their own pasts and all of them trying to move on with their life. I didn’t favour one character over another and at first they are all very separate as you learn about each of their lives.

Wow! This was great. Had a hard time putting it down. Involves three woman in abusive situations. Goes back in forth in time flawlessly. Highly recommend. Thanks Netgalley for this arc. Really good read.

This is the first book that I have read by Alex Kane. This book was a twisty psychological thriller that I really enjoyed. The story is told by three different women. It is told by alternating between the past and the present.

The pace of the story is perfect and the characters easy to connect with. The ending is something that I did not see coming. If you are looking for a good thriller then I recommend this one!!

Read in about 4 hours...it was THAT gripping! I didn't want to put it down. The book has so many twists and turns, every time I thought I had it figured out I didn't! This psychological thriller weaves the lives of three women, Beth, Lydia, and Victoria. The story delves into the past and present of these three women's lives, as they live out domestic abuse and adultery in their marriages and relationships. It is a sinister tale that will leave you saying to yourself "Wait...what? Did I just read that right?" I even had to get a notebook and take notes!

In this book we meet three close friends, Beth, Victoria and Lydia. Each have such a profound influence on the other's lives, and that sets the tone of the whole book. All is however not what it seems, and I really, honestly, without a doubt, did NOT see the ending coming.... wow!

Three and a half star rating.
Three women, Beth, Victoria and Lydia, all with problematic histories, whose lives suddenly are on a collision course. It was engrossing from the start and for once I didn’t see what turned out to be the reveal. The ladies weren’t particularly enchanting, bossy, needy, naive and irritating in turns. Not a very long book, but works well that way. I liked how it was written and that the twist didn’t come too soon, which would have spoilt it, for me anyway.

This was a great read for me. It kept me guessing. I really enjoyed it and will be looking for more books by this author. This isn't what I usually read and I really love when I find a book outside of my "comfort zone" that intrigues me.

5☆ A Chilling, Highly Compelling Psychological Thriller, I Couldn't Put Down!

What She Did is a chilling, psychological thriller that got under my skin and I loved it!!

This is my second book I have read by Alex Kane and her books keep getting better and better!

This is a story of three very different women. All hurt in their past, yet things spiral as the story weaves between them, from past to present and things start to become dark and a lil sinister!
Who can you Trust?

The three women are Beth, Victoria and Lydia.
All three are very very Complex Characters, bound together unknowingly.

Eek I so want to write about the plot, but if I do it might give things away and it's just way to good!

There are some sensitive subjects such as domestic violence, manipulation, grief, suicidal thoughts and adultry but Kane handles them with the right amount of sensitivity to still make an impact which is keeping in relevant to the story.

The chapters go from past to present each chapter in a different characters Point of View, but it flows perfectly.

What She Did is a dark and perfectly twisty and thrilling psychological thriller, that I devoured in one night I just couldn't put it down!
All the cleverly plotted connections/links are perfect some I really didn't see coming!, the back stories are chilling and at times a little disturbing.
I loved each Character in their own way, they were twisted, complex, desperately flawed and really well written.

Overall another Gem of a book by Alex Kane!

Would I recommend reading this Highly Compelling book..... Without a Doubt.... 100%..... Yes!

Alex Kane has become one of my favourite Authors!

Thank you to Book On The Bright Side Tours for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

2.5 rounded up

This took way too long to get to the point and I grew frustrated and confused along the way.

The thing is that the writing is decent as are the characters. The suspense exists almost from the start and doesn’t wane (at least for me). There is something that niggled in me that things weren’t as they seemed but I wasn’t sure why.

The reveal has me a bit muddled in my feelings on this one. I have read something with a similar reveal recently and that is tainting this a bit (which I know is unfair). But also it leaves me feeling a bit cheated. Maybe if it gave up the reveal a bit sooner I would have been able to appreciate it more?? I think if it’s new to you then you will find it clever and go back and see connections and whatnot but I’m not inspired to do so.

Overall, I liked the writing style I urge you to give it a shot if it sounds appealing. I would read more by this author. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Hera Books for a copy in exchange for a review.

What She Did by Alex Kane's was a brilliant. book. I just Loved it. I was hooked from the first few pages and OMG what an explosive ending to this book! Wow I had to pick myself off of the floor.......Just Brilliant!

This book is a gripping, tense psychological thriller about three strong women, Victoria, Beth and Lydia. It flicks between the past and the present of these characters and each chapter is clearly named with their names so you don't get confused. Plus, its very cleverly written with short chapters which I love.

It's a dark and can be disturbing read about domestic violence and women are often found struggling in a world dominated by men.

I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author Alex Kane and Hera Books for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Oh wow!! Alex Kane is a completely new writer to me, but when I saw that What She Did was set in my hometown of Glasgow I just jumped at the chance to read it, and boy am I happy that I did!! Alternating between three women, Beth, Victoria and Lydia, What She Did is a suspenseful tale of abuse, betrayal, fear and friendships.

Alex Kane presents a storyline carved out so intricately with a stream of twists and turns. They just keep coming. The eyes tend to deceive in this one. I mean, really deceive. The author haven’t just written a story, they have created a mind-bending, kaleidoscopic psychological suspense that will make you question everything you’ve read. Yes, it really is that good. I read so many psychological thrillers or mystery-suspense novels that my senses subconsciously pick up even the slightest of clues, I can normally tell how the book will end before the author does, but What She Did messed with my head so badly I was all over the place with this one.

The writing is solid and I sunk easily into the flow that moved along at a moderate pace. The characters were all well-developed and multi-layered, in fact they had so many layers they were like an onion, it took a lot of peeling to get to the mysterious heart of them. Short punchy chapters held my attention and made the storyline engrossing and addictive. What She Did was one of those books that once I started I refused to put down, and managed to read in one sitting.
