While this was not my favorite Hallmark read, I think many readers will enjoy it. For me it started out really slow, mostly because I didn't like Jenna much. I felt like she blamed other people were the cause of her problems, giving her a victim mentality. I had to push myself to continue reading.

This is a fun summer beach read based off of the Hallmark movie, Love at the Shore. I enjoyed the way Terri Wilson wrote her book and thought she captured the essence of the movie and characters. Who wouldn't love to spend a month on a beach at Tybee Island even if you do have to finish writing a book?

I liked the character of Jenna, who is a single parent of two children and she had five weeks to finish writing her second book. She has everything all planned out because that is how she is. I also liked Lucas, her annoying neighbor who just so happens to own the duplex and the summer day camp which Jenna's children attend so Jenna can write. He is much more laid back than Jenna.

It was fun to watch Jenna develop feelings for her neighbor who has also seemed to develop feelings for her too. I enjoyed watching them deny their feelings and live together as neighbors in the duplex. It was also interesting that Lucas does not tell Jenna that he owns the duplex which leads to some interesting discussions in the book. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

It was nice to read a book based on a movie that actually followed the movie. The book provided more insight on Jenna and Lucas that can't be described in a movie. It provided a deeper understanding of the characters, their backgrounds and their current reactions to the situation.

The epilogue provided closure that wasn't presented in the movie so I really appreciated that.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher for my honest review.

Jenna and her children and neighbours were off on there summer vacation to the shore. Jenna was hoping for peace and tranquility to finish her sequel. This was a new rental to them, five weeks of quiet.
They were greeted by Tank (her neighbors dog) and chaos on Lucas’s side of the duplex.

Who knew that summer romance was lurking?

perfect for a lazy Summer day. Jenna is a single mom of two and is vacationing with her kids. Her neighbor in her vacation rental is a surfer dude who doesn’t seem to want anything serious. Slowly but surely they start getting to know each other and can’t deny their attraction.

I was easily engaged in LOVE AT THE SHORE. Take one uptight newish author who is on a tight deadline to finish up a sequel, a couple of kids with minds of their own on summer vacation, one man who won’t be tied down or lose his lifestyle and one rambunctious, adorable dog and you had me at the first line. Moving from enemies to lovers is probably the best trope description for this story but there are layers to both Jenna and Lucas that aren’t shown in the best light at their first meeting. A reminder to not judge a book by its cover is also rather obvious with this couple.

Five weeks at the beach to write, relax, give her kids a great summer and maybe fall in love with the sexy, at times infuriating man next door are Jenna’s plans. Now if only the “write and relax” part could become a reality.

I had fun with LOVE AT THE SHORE, it’s perfect for the beach or back porch romance filled with interesting characters and a pup who has gone a bit crazy or maybe always was. I often imagined Tank doing zoomies on the beach – that’s what mine would have been doing. In the mood for a good summer romance? Then you’ll want all the feels from this one.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Sweet, romantic, summer fun. Cute story with a beautiful beach setting. Nice romance, easy to read and overall feel good read. Everything I could hope for in a book from Hallmark! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is such a sweet story, where a single hot surfer and his dog meet a single mum and her two adorable kids!

Jenna and her kids go to the beach every year, but this year she left it late in booking the usual house they rent, but she found a shared duplex, which looked perfect!

Lucas is a carefree surfer, he has a dog and no intention is ever getting married or having kids due to the fact his childhood wasn’t great! The only problem is, he can’t stop thinking about Jenna and her kids! Of course, they have a few run ins, and Jenna has barriers up to protect her heart and the heart of her kids!

There are obviously feelings growing between the two adults, and Lucas is softening towards the children and their constant questions! Just when things start to look up, Lucas does something that Jenna may not ever forgive, he lets her son down!

Can Lucas make it up to them all, can they both move past the hurt they have both suffered in the past and find a way to move forward together, or will it be a case of Jenna just heading home with the kids and lots of happy memories!

Love At The Shore by Teri Wilson is a contemporary standalone romance that is actually based on the Hallmark movie by the same name. A great summery beach read this one features a single mom stumbling on love in an unexpected way.

Jenna is a single mom who has always tried to take her kids to the beach for the summer but with the deadline looming on her manuscript she didn’t get her reservation in on time. Booking another cottage for the summer last minute Jenna vows to keep the summer special even if she does need to finish writing her book while at the beach.

When Jenna and the kids arrive at the new cottage they meet their new carefree neighbor, Lucas. Lucas’s laid back attitude is the complete opposite of Jenna’s more uptight one which has the two at odds when it comes to the parties, loud music and his wandering dog.

Love At The Shore was a rather fun story of the old opposites attract trope that also has the underlying don’t judge a book by their cover message to the story. The characters were even more likable than I imagined but of course I’m a sucker for getting the kids involved in relationships. Some aspects may seem a bit predictable to this type of story but that easily overlooked making for a great beach read.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Love At the Shore is a perfect summer read, a heartwarming story and endearing characters. Jenna and Lucas start out as adversaries, next door neighbors who don’t seem eye to eye. Jenna’s cute kids and Lucas’s dog add a sweet and warm-hearted layer to the story. It was fun to watch Jenna and Lucas let their guards down, opening their hearts to possibilities.

This is the first book I’ve read by Teri Wilson, and I’m glad I took advantage of the offer from the publisher, via Net-Galley, to read and review in advance of publication. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

Love at the Shore is a fast paced enjoyable read from start to finish. The characters are engaging, and the plot grabbed me. I always like books with children and Jenna’s two are awesome.

Jenna’s character has many redeeming characteristics. She dedicated to her craft, and she is determined to meet her deadline while still giving her two kids a fun summer at the beach. I quickly became vested in her character.

Lucas is a sweetheart! While he claims to not care for children, it’s all bluff. After all, he owns the summer day camp Jenna’s children are attending and is determined to help her son achieve his goal to make his swim team. He’s a great fit for Jenna since she’s a little on the serious side while he’s a devil-may-care kind of guy.

The romance is sweet, but oh, so satisfying. I truly wanted them to find their happy ending. While this is a light-hearted story, there’s plenty of emotion and feelings going on between this couple.

If you’re looking for a fun read to take to the beach, with great characters and an interesting plot, then you will enjoy Love at the Shore as much as I did. I will be on the lookout for other entertaining romances by the talented Ms. Wilson. Happy reading!

I have to say first off how much I loved this book.Jenna , a mom and second book writer is experiencing trouble completing her book and decides to concentrate on her writing during their summer vacation.Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your outlook, it appears she has the neighbor from hell and they are off to a rocky start. Jenna gets creative in her efforts to block out any and all distractions, but with kids and a dog in the mix,it gets very interesting and hilarious. The neighbor, Lucas with his calm demeanor and laid-back approach to life was very likable even when he thought he was being retaliative and calculating, and I fell in love with him all the way when he took her son Nick under his wings. The evolving relationship between Jenna's daughter Ally and Lucas' dog Tank was heartwarming to read.Truly a light , amusing beach read, two thumbs up for Teri Wilson.

I haven’t seen the Hallmark movie adaptation yet but I know I’d love it! Such a sweet and easy read. Likable characters and a clean romance made for a very enjoyable story. I’ve been to Tybee Island many times for vacation so it was fun to read a book that was set there. I definitely recommend this book and I look forward to reading more by Teri Wilson!

2 1/2 stars

So Teri Wilson’s Love at the Shore almost became one of those dreaded abbreviations in a book blogger’s vocabulary: a DNF. While the writing was good and the story pleasant enough, the main character, Jenna Turner was like fingernails-on-a-blackboard to me. She was controlling with a blame-it-on-everyone else kind of attitude that continued for around 70% of the novel.

I am your beach bum wannabe so I can’t even imagine someone coming onto a public beach and yelling because beach-goers were playing their music too loudly during the day. After 10 pm, that’s another thing, but during the day, you’ve got to expect to be laughed off the beach because it’s seriously live and let live. But Jenna is not a live and let live kind of person. Also, I can’t imagine expecting peace-and-quiet on your oceanfront deck at the beach. If you want to write a novel, go indoors where the air conditioner is humming and making white noise that will blank out the sound of all of those people on vacation having a good time. On their vacation.

I don’t know how this became a romance because if I had been Lucas I would have migrated to another part of the island while this woman was vacationing next door. His falling in love with her was totally unbelievable. I could see him falling for the kids; her, not so much.

I will stop the rant about her whiny, judgmental character now.

There were some fun parts of the novel, especially when Jenna stopped being Jenna for a while and almost became a person who enjoyed life.

I know that I’m supposed to find some fault with Lucas’ character, but I didn’t really see that much.

To sum up: dog – excellent; kids – cute; Lucas – charming but short-sighted (he fell for Jenna); Jenna – ugh. The story is good. The writing is good.

For the heckuva it, we’ll call this a YMMV review because the majority of reviewers gave it 4-5 stars.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
