If there was ever a perfect “read-while-I’m-on-vacation-summer-break” type of book, it’s this one. It’s a charming story of two people who thought they knew what they wanted from life, but discovered there was still so much more than they ever dreamed. This story has been made into a Hallmark movie and I enjoyed that when I watched it, but this book is better. The characters are more well-defined and the ending of the story has a little different twist than the movie that made for a sigh-worthy ending. The author makes the setting of the story come to life; Lucas and Jenna make a great couple; and I loved the fact that the kids have an important part of the storyline.

This is a sweet and clean book that I’d recommend to anyone who wants something light and entertaining to read. I’m looking forward to reading more books by Teri Wilson.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

3.5 stars.

I had high hopes for this book that were ~mostly~ met, ready for an enjoyable beach-y romance (that actually takes place at the beach). This book follows Jenna, a single mother of two, who is pursuing her dream as a writer. She has writer's block when trying to meet the deadline for her sequel. Hoping to get some work done while she takes her kids to the beach for five weeks, she finds that she has a noisy, messy neighbor who happens to be incredibly attractive. Lucas isn't thrilled to have a type-A neighbor who criticizes his every move. Even more annoying is that he can't seem to act nonchalant around her or her kids, involving himself in their lives. Of course, Jenna and Lucas have feelings for each other that they fight in a classic hate-to-love romance plot.

The characters were so likable, that I was invested from the start. Even though Jenna and Lucas both act immature somewhat frequently, I really liked them otherwise, so I was able to overlook it. Also, how does Jenna negatively judge Lucas because he owned an amazingly adorable and personable dog? Tank, Lucas's dog, is the best character - he has such a great personality! I'm not sure why Jenna's son, Nick, was so set on swimming. I would understand if his dad had been a swimmer and he misses him or something, but there's no real backstory other than his friend is on swim team. It also seems like he enjoys track and running more than swimming and is better at those, so his swimming motivation (or lack thereof) is pretty confusing.

While I love a good hate-to-romance plot, the distance between Jenna and Lucas went on for much too long. Most of the book is spent with Jenna and Luke spatting and "hating" each other, and not enough time was spent with them actually as a couple. Their "relationship", if we can even call it that, also moves at a weird pace. They don't ever go on a single real date, and they're already in love and thinking about major life changes like adopting kids and moving to the beach, uprooting Jenna's children's lives. This lack of relationship development was really frustrating in an otherwise engaging book.

I read Love At The Shore in a day because it was so cute and fun! It was a quick, light read and perfect for summer. I really enjoyed. I don't have a whole lot to say other than I enjoyed the characters, the setting, and the romance a lot.

Love at Shore is just a feel good romance. Based on a Hallmark movie, it keeps everything nice, neat and clean. Jenna, a single mother, and Lucas, a free spirit, find love and the sequel to Jenna's book all in one place.

Love at the Shore by Teri Wilson was a great Summer read! The quirky, innocent love story between a single mom and her surfer neighbor was a quick beach read. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters and could see myself as Jenna (if I was in her position as a single mom). Hopefully Hallmark will make this into a movie because that's how I pictured it as I read the book...as a movie.
The only reason I am not giving this novel 5 stars is because Jenna's YA novel was such a big part of the story line and then it just disappeared once she sent it to her publisher. Nothing more was written about the "perfect ending" she would so hard toward creating. Overall, it's a cute story.

Love at the Shore is a perfect beach read. I thought the characters Jenna and Lucas was wonderful characters. This story was sweet, fun and easy to read. It was a page turner, well written and a good storyline.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing.

Delightful beach read. If your wondering what book to read when your sitting in the sand this is the book. Who wouldn't love a romance that takes place on the beach with a mother of two children and a dog named Tank? Jenna rented the beach condo to spend with her children Nick and Ally. It should be the perfect five weeks to enjoy the beach and finish her book. Only problem is the surfing dude next door. She wasn't counting on Lucas being a distraction. How can she possibly finish her book before the deadline when he keeps getting on her nerves?

Love at the Shore is the perfect beach read. It’s a sweet story with endearing characters, a scene-stealing dog, and a romance that will make you smile.

Jenna is a single mom and an author with a hit debut under her belt. She’s taking her kids to the shore for the summer, hoping that while they’re at camp she can get over her writer’s block and finish the sequel she needs to submit in five weeks. It’s easy to like Jenna. She’s a loving parent, a good friend, and though she may come across as tightly-wound, the stress she’s under makes it understandable and her organizational bent made me smile. Her well-ordered world is knocked off its axis when she meets her neighbor, Lucas, and his energetic dog. Lucas may seem like a total beach bum at first glance, but I loved peeling the layers back to his character. Lucas is charming and easy-going, sure, but he has a good heart and the way he bonds with Jenna’s adorable kids is sure to make you melt.

Strikes spark between Lucas and Jenna at first meeting, but it was fun watching them initially try to deny the attraction. What follows is a slow-burn romance that is a joy to watch unfold. Teri Wilson’s writing always keeps me engaged and this story is no exception. The setting and the characters come to life on the page and I finished this book a well-satisfied reader. Love at the Shore is based on the Hallmark movie of the same name. Though I haven’t yet seen the movie, I hope it has the same energy and heart Ms. Wilson’s book does.

Love at the Shore was the perfect book to read over Memorial Day weekend to kick off the start of summer! It makes the perfect vacation read. The characters are funny and sweet and I found myself falling in love with them. After reading this book, I really want to visit Tybee Island. I could close my eyes and picture myself there while reading this story. I highly recommend adding Love at the Shore to your summer reading list!

Oh my heart! LOVE AT THE SHORE by Teri Wilson was the perfect Memorial Day weekend read, with the start of summer being around the corner. I loved this sweet romance about a divorced writer mom who brings her kids to a beach house rental, only to fall for the messy, playful surfer next door. In fact, I loved it so much that I watched the movie as soon as I finished the book, so thank you Hallmark for entertaining me this long weekend!

Jenna Turner was a character close to my heart, as I struggle with writing myself too and totally understood where she was coming from. My dream would be to go to a beach house for five weeks, like she did with her kids, and work on my novels! Jenna’s ready to work, organized, and lives by the plan. The kids are enrolled in summer camp, and she thinks she has everything set and under control. Jenna’s ambition is admirable, but she’s distracted by the cutie next door neighbor (and his dog) in the duplex they are sharing.

Lucas already lived the corporate life of plans and schedules, and worked hard to attain his dream of a shore life as a surfer and local business person at the beach. Now, he’s learned to relax a bit and live the unattached life. Until his beautiful neighbor and her awesome kids move in for the summer and he finds himself pulled into their world.

There are so many things to love about LOVE AT THE SHORE. Tank, the dog, is a superstar. My heart swelled at how the kids chipped away at Lucas’s anti-attachment attitude, and how Lucas taught Jenna to relax a little and not try to control everything. I especially loved how Jenna’s new summer vibe helped her finish her book, and how Ms. Wilson showed Lucas realizing that his life, while amazing, could be so much more if he let love in.

LOVE AT THE SHORE is a sweet, summer read with mature characters, and a lovely setting. It’s the perfect book to take to the beach!

Love At The Shore is not the typical book that I normally go for, sure it is romance, but I usually go for YA romance, however in saying this book was amazing and I could not put it down.

Jenna, a single mom and a very successful YA author take her annual summer's getaway with her two children. She ends up in a beach rental house next to a loud neighbour who throws way too many parties and makes a huge racket. Lucas, your typical surfer dude that lives right next to the beach with his dog and throws the town's best bonfire parties.

Lucas develops a close relationship with Jenna's kids and volunteers to help her son become a better coach and soon Jenna realises there is more to Lucas behind the party and the surf, on the inside, he is a soft gentleman that uses time and patience to make sure her son gets into the swimming team.

The descriptions and the way the setting was placed out were vivid and concise and I could close my eyes and imagine being in the beach hut next to the sea feeling the breeze. The plot moved along and left no gaps and all the characters had reasons to be together and spend more time with each other.

I highly recommend this book if you want something light to read while on holiday! Not a complicated storyline so it won't give you a headache, it's simple, light and happy.

I was generously provided with an ARC of this novel by the publisher and author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and views expressed are my own.

Love At the Shore is a fast read, clean-cut, summer beach romance. It tells the story of a divorced mom and her 2 elementary-aged children as they spend a summer on a beach. They end up sharing a duplex with a bachelor surfer who owns a dog. The story is sweet, fun, and full of true-to-life friendships.

I enjoyed the story, but didn’t love it, as I have loved other books by this author. Some of the quirkiness, the sparks between characters and the banter I have come to love, was missing in this book. It does however have an enormous fluffy bunch of sweetness and it reads like a Hallmark summer movie. So this is perfect for a day on the beach with a sparkling drink next to you.

The story is about a single mother of two, an author, on holiday where she eventually falls in love with the beach-rental neighbor who, of course, isn’t just the lazy beach bum she takes him for.

Part of the reason why I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I’d hoped was that the children played a rather too large part of the story for my taste. Also, I was a little annoyed that to me it felt that the heroine’s opinion of her surfing neighbor only changed after she discovered he wasn’t poor, although it was probably meant as in that he too had a carreer.

The story is a ‘clean’ one, which means no sex, or mentioning of sex anywhere, and only a kiss towards the end.

This was just what I needed for my beach trip. I wish I had the handsome neighbor but alas! It was light and easy, a little predictable but that is what I want with my Hallmark books. I love the recipes that come in each book!

I would like to thank netgalley and Hallmark Publishing for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Jenna escapes to the beach with her family to finish her latest novel in peace. However her next door neighbor has other plans.

Enjoyable, but a little boring.

I have seen the movie Love at the Shore, and was excited to see this book. It added great detail that wasn't seen in the movie. This was a fun romance.

This was a sweet summertime read, perfect for a trip to the beach! I read this book while laying in my hammock over a long weekend - which was the next best thing to bring on vacation. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about a single mom author who meets the bachelor surfer dude and falls in love. It was a typical Hallmark storyline, it had just enough of the sappy romance to make you fall in love with the characters! This was my first time reading a book by Hallmark Publishing, and I can’t wait to read another! The recipe at the end of the book was a fun touch! The only “negative” I had was that at the very end of the book, the author seems to be mixing up Disneyland and Disney World. This is not something most people would catch, but being the huge Disney fan that I am, I quickly caught the errors. But overall, I loved this quick, summertime romance!

This book is perfect! If you love the beach, grab this book. You feel like you are there, you can see the scenery, hear the gulls and the crashing waves. As always, if it's a Hallmark book it's a winner with a wonderful recipe at the end. Thank you Hallmark Publishing via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was a very good book. I had just finished a lousy book and I didn't have very high hopes for a Hallmark book. I was very wrong; I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I really liked the writing style. The dialogue was realistic and natural. The descriptions were concise and vivid. I could picture all of the scenes especially those involving the beach, the house, and the dog. The characters were likable. The plot moved along without gaping holes or random obstacles to just give the characters reasons to be together. Even the pacing of the romance works. Five weeks over the summer seems much more "realistic" than the typical two weeks at Christmas timeline.

I highly recommend it especially if you are heading to the beach (or just wish you were like I am). It's fun and light and happy.
