When warlock Aidan has a vision that Fallon - the beautiful shifter he briefly met is going to meet a untimely death, he knows he should stay away, and not get involved, but he simply cannot. As Aidan and Fallon, search for the threat to her they come across a so called ‘rebellion’ that could change the landscape of the paranormal and human world. Add to that betrayal is just around the corner and they have a rather busy time ahead.

This was an ok read, and at the start some of the interactions between Fallon and Aidan had me smiling, but I don’t know the story lacked a certain oomph and whilst there was clearly something between the main characters the chemistry between them didn’t sizzle off the page.

The idea that witches/warlocks give off an off-putting odour whenever using magic had me wrinkling my nose a fair bit – I’d love magical powers but reeking when using magic would take the fun out of it!

Duval was one secondary character that I was disgusted by from the get go – he’s arrogant self-serving and prejudiced.

This book is a part of a series, but it can easily be read as a standalone.

This was an easy one time read.

OK, I am admittedly late to the game. This is the last book in this series and I am so sad! I will definitely be checking out the previous books now that I'm in love with this prickly band of misfits.

We get a little refresher on how Fallon and Aidan met, at Fallon's brother's mating ceremony. It was a fleeting thing, but left an impression on them both. After that, they went their separate ways, until a vision Aidan receives indicates that she is in mortal danger. Ignoring all warnings to stay out of wolf business, he's drawn to her anyway. Fallon is independent to a fault. She's determined to live her life by her rules, even at the risk of getting herself killed.

Aidan, on the other hand, is so full of himself that he can't see the relationship developing before his eyes. He is also blind to the happenings in his own coven. There's oodles of betrayal, long buried family issues, fighting, sexy times, and pack behavior jammed into this book. The world was wonderful, and, as I said, I'm sad I missed the previous books to watch it evolve. Aidan and Fallon are unlikely allies and even less likely partners, but this book really took you on their adventure.

Aidan's eyes shot open he’d scene the woman with the gold eyes who had been lying on concrete with a lot of blood-dead. The screams still ran through his mind. The negative of having the leir, or second sight was having to see such horrific things or events. The happy ones Aidan could handle. The awful ones disgusted him because usually there was nothing he could do about it. Four hours had passed while he had been meditating. The one thing that rocked him is he recognized her eye. They’de joked back and forth six months ago. She was going to die, Killians sister was going to be murdered. Killian wasn’t fond of Aidan as it was, if he found out Aidan knew his sister was going to be killed …. Aidan wasn’t to worried about the Alpha-Killian- since the Alpha couldn’t do much against Aidan. Warlocks tended to be stronger than Alpha shifter. Aidan wondered if he could live with himself if he allowed this to happen. Witches didn’t delve into the matters of other paranormal but watched from the outside. On the opposite side of his room there was a wall of falling water. It was enchanted by the Visage. Witches who specialized in their ability with water. Aidan readied himself . This was not going to be a fun conversation. He muttered a spell under his breath and a faint blue sheen fogged over the water. “Duval” and Aidan waited for an answer to his call. Than the water and fog stilled and than iced over. A face appeared -Dival.-the Ceann of Aidan’s coven. He told Dival his vision had been bad. That was what Aidan wanted to talk about. Dival said he had to let it be. But Aidan added he knew her. When Aidan said she was a shifter Dival said absolutely not. Dival said he had seen things. Things he can’t explain to him . It’s the curse of the Leir. Dival had saved him when he was nine. Than dival said it was a direct order not to interfere and left the water and it once again flowed. Aidan could get in a lot of trouble if he tried to help the shifter. Was a shared smile justify him going to prison? Fallan the shifter of Aidan’s vision was working at the bar- The Library. The Library wasn’t like other bars. It was on the quiet side of things. Fallon recognized the smell and eyes of Aidan when he showed up at the bar where she worked. He said he would show her the difference between a witch and a warlock. But Fallan shot him down. She got him the beer on tap he ordered. Than Luke came up to the bar and ordered a drink Luke was a nice guy and Fallen liked him. Luke made her life which wasn’t easy. He said other shifters noticed the witch there and he wasn’t sure their amnesty goes as far as to allow witches there. Fallen said she didn’t think he’d be a problem. Having a warlock among them would unsettle the local packs. Luke said he’d pass it around Aidan wasn’t a permanent resident. Fallon had quit school so her parents had stopped sending her money to help with rent so she really needed this job. That night her boss ben said he had to let her go by Christmas as the bar had slowed down, so he had to make some cuts. Fallon said she understood and she’d be okay. Fallen was outside Fallon's apartment building he told her he had a vision of her murder. He didn’t know who did it but he would find out. Fallan invited him in and Aidan said he was there to protect her not have sex with her. Witches and shifters were not supposed to be involved in each others worlds. Even though Aidan really wanted her. Fallon's wolf even wanted Aidan. Fallan could not think why anyone would want to kill her or why. Aidan was determined to find out who wanted to hurt/kill Fallan.
I loved this story. I loved Aidan and Fallan together. I loved the plot and pace of this book. They may be opposites but the fit each other. I loved the magic aspect of this book. Although making a warlock smell very offensive to shifters was new. I advise you to read the other books of this series first for a smoother read. I loved the plot and pace. I didn't want to put this down to see what was going to happen next. I felt this book was well written. I loved the characters and the twists and turns in this book and I highly recommend it.
