A cute fun book to get you in the mood for Christmas, a good follow on to the first book although could probably be read as a standalone. Plenty of humour and great characters make it a quick, easy and enjoyable read

What's more amazing than a magical Christmas treat?! Well, I know many things would be amazing but it still doesn't put this one off the chart. It's after reading this book that I realized it is actually the second book in the continuation of a series. And trust me it makes so much more sense. But I think it can be still read as a standalone novel.

The reason for a low rating is just that. There were pieces that weren't connecting, things I thought needed more explanation but that's because I *accidently* read the second book so ofcourse some things were amiss to me. But it was still a delightful read! I loved the character of Susie. Small town romance trope is lovely and this was no different.
And I might be biased here but Aunt Erma was undoubtedly the best character!

This is book 2 in the Magic Pie Shop series. It can be read as a stand alone but I think I would have enjoyed it more with a little of the book 1 background. Susie and her aunt run a pie shop in the magical town of Hocus Hills. Someone is out to steal the magic and it's up to Susie to stop the evil. The book is light hearted and an easy read. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was a fun holiday story. It will be sure to get you in the Christmas spirit. The close knit community is special and I loved the characters.
Many thanks to One More Chapter and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

A cute, Christmassy book. For me, it was probably not as enjoyable of a read, as I did NOT read the first installment. This is #2 in the series. In many series, it's not necessary to read in order; but for this one I think it is. I was confused. This review may not be as helpful as it needs to be; but it is a warning if you haven't read the first one.

Thanks for the free copy to check out a new series. If I get a chance to read the first book, I may come back & edit my review.

I am always drawn to holiday books, Christmas is one of my favorite celebrations. Susanna, Aunt Erma, Henry and friends are characters that along with paranormal undertones, mystery and people with ulterior motives and you have an enjoyable read.

If you are looking for a funny, fast read, this is just the right book for you.

While this is the second book in the series, you do not need to read the first one.

Did not wet my appetite…
A Slice of Christmas Magic is the second book in The Magic Pie Shop series. I did not read the first book, A Slice of Magic, and even though A.G. does a good job of quickly reintroducing characters or adding commentary that helps fill in the gaps, I could tell that there was a backstory that would have helped me better understand both the characters and plot. Basically, in the first book, Susie left her job in the city and temporarily moved to Hocus Hills to run her Aunt Erma’s pie shop after Erma’s sudden disappearance. Susie had not seen her Aunt in twenty years and had no idea how to make pies, let alone knowledge of her magic heritage that was the special ingredient in all the highly sought after deserts.

A Slice of Christmas Magic finds Susie still working at the pie shop now that her Aunt Erma has been unbound from the magic curse that had turned her into a cat. Susie is still trying to come to grips with the knowledge that magic exists in Hocus Hills and that she is also a witch. Aunt Erma’s nemesis is still on the loose and is trying to steal the pie spices that make the pies so special. Susie does all she can to try and stop the evil magic, while navigating a developing love triangle between her new boyfriend in Hocus Hills and her close friend, who is a boy, from back in the city. The true spirit of Christmas is in jeopardy, both for the town and herself, if she fails.

I really believe that pies are a great analogy for books; there is a huge variety of flavors and not everyone has the same favorite taste. It is not that A Slice of Christmas Magic was unpalatable, it is just that from the first taste it was never able to grab my attention and keep me wanting more. A.G. is a solid writer and produces a light and easy to read story. Like special foods that have a history with us (my grandma made it for me when I was little or this is what my significant other and I ate on our first date) developing a connection with a book series from the first book can impact how you read all the others. I did not have that connection with this series and A Slice of Christmas Magic was never able to get me hooked on it.

Thank you to the publisher and #NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. It was a sweet treat to return to Hocus Hills and to extend the holiday season with this cozy story. I enjoyed the further development of the quirky core characters. Author A.G. Mayes took some hilarious creative license in traditional holiday festivities - I do not know if I will ever look at snowmen the same way again (chuckle)! The perfect story to enjoy curled up in a warm blanket on a chilly, dark night.

This is a lovely book. It makes a nice transition between Halloween and Christmas! There is a strong atmosphere of coziness and mystery.
Located in Hocus Hill, we discover a very special shop. Indeed, the pies are magical thanks to some of the spices. However, these important spices are stolen... And the characters must act quickly.
The plot is absolutely cute, the tone is light and it is easy to read.
I like the approach of the magic, it is like a gift and we have to make do.
For the readers, it is a good compromise between the fantastic and the romantic theme.
This book deserves 5 stars because I want to discover the continuation of the adventures of this series!

Initially I found this book confusing. Have I read the first chapters before? Was it at the end of a previous book? Or did I read an early draft?
Or something else?
I thought that this story was not quite up to the standard of book 1. Perhaps because the ‘strange’ in the story is now familiar. It needed for me more than the same enemies.
I was very worried about the level of diabetes in this community with the amount of cream pie they are eating. A very American dessert and thing to do. Perhaps the author could let them eat something healthier occasionally? A fruit flan would be an improvement.

I enjoyed this book but it took me by surprise. Some may think since the Holidays are over, then why read this “Christmas Book” But, it’s more of a magic type book to put a smile on you face. This is the 2nd one in a series and it brings back Susie and her Aunt Erma with her magic pies. Bring in a new character, a dog, and magical pies and you have a fun filled book to read. Thanks to Net Galley for giving me the chance to read it.

A quick and easy Christmas read. I would give it 3.5 stars, mainly because I felt a little lost (perhaps part of a series?) and also because the character relationships were just thrown in, and not overly explained. Didn't see the need for the old friend (Josh), as he just popped up too, and then proclaimed his love. What? Some of my favorite parts was the beginning of each chapter, with the Dear Abby type of questions and answers. Written by her boyfriend Henry, I found them a hoot. Would recommend if you want a quick read. Title said Christmas, but to be honest did not see much of that in the book.

Such a sweet book about romance, friendship, family, magic and food! Who could ask for more? Susie learns about magic and power from her aunt and friends and embraces her own skills. Slightly torn when a former friend professes his love, she recognizes her current relationship with Henry for the more positive and potential. This book made for a delightful seasonal read but could definitely be enjoyed anytime to bring joy.

I could not get into this book. I struggled through it. Took a while. I'm sure it is exactly what someone else is looking for, just not for me. I also didn't realize it was part of a series, maybe that was the problem. I'll check out the other and revisit.

The holidays are magical times regardless of how you celebrate or what you believe. In light of that, I have a tiny little review of a magical little holiday book that I read, A Slice of Christmas Magic by A.G. Mayes.

This is the second book in the series; the first is A Slice of Magic. This time the holidays are here and the same nemesis as before is back to wreak holiday mayhem. While Aunt Erma is once again in charge of her magical pie shop, nothing is quite normal in Hocus Hills. In addition to all other mischief, Susie’s “one that got away” has shown up in town creating a love triangle that is sweet and spicy.

A Slice of Christmas Magic is a short, fun holiday read that will put a smile on your face through the season.

I’m reading tonight by the fire, waiting for Santa to make his appearance and I’m wishing you all a very happy, healthy holiday!

While the start was a little bumpy for me (having not read any other titles in the series), it soon took off. I'm all ready to pack my bags and experience a bit of magic in Hocus Hills. Definitely a fun read for the holiday season.

This is the second in the series and I ended up reading this one then catching up with the first afterwards. The wrong order. Given my time back I would have read them in the order the writer intended. Despite that, I found this a fun festive read and I enjoyed it very much.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you are looking for a quick, fun holiday book with sprinkle of magic, mystery, and innocent romance, then this is just the pie, I mean book for you! It was a very cute holiday indulgence....the only thing to make it better would be recipes to the yummy pies it featured! Thank you Netgalley for allowing me a free advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Fun, cosy festive and magical read with mouthwatering descriptions of delicious pies - don’t read it if you’re on a diet! I enjoyed the family/friend relationships portrayed and this quick read helped get me in the Christmas spirit.
