This was a good book. Jackie Kabler is a new author for me. I would read another book that she writes in the future.

A twisty, gripping psychological thriller. A well-written novel with great characters. Plenty of twists and turns many are unexpected. Recommended.

Well, it took me a long time to finish this book just because I couldn't really get into it, I don't like leaving book unfinished so decided to finish it this week.

Nothing really surprised me in this story, I pretty much had the whole story guessed from the beginning, the police were very bad at their job and the ending wasn't good either

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review

Thanks to #netgalley for the arc in exchange for a fair and honest review. I hate not being able to rave about a thriller book. But sadly this is one of those times. It wasnt really bad it was just a so so kind of read. I was hoping for much more and maybe the fault lies on me and my expectations, I read so many thrillers that anything less than pageturning is kind of anticlimactic for me. The plot starts off well, her husband is missing...she is accused of killing him.... but then by the end it just wrapped up kind of fast and it was over and its one of those books that for me the plot/characters left my mind as soon as I finished it. I like a thriller where the characters/storyline stay in my mind for a while. I wouldn't rush out to buy this one or recommend it to seasoned thriller readers, maybe its more for people new to the genre. #netgalley #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #litsy #bookstagram #amazon#kindle #bookqueen #theperfectcouple #jackiekabler

So much l liked about this book 📚 the detail that went into the disappearance why Gemma was a suspect even l began to think we were going to have some double twist at the end of the book but then it was all very neatly explained and l just didn’t find it plausible a minor point but the two Detectives vowing to put their lives back on track if they could bring the case to a conclusion l found really cliche and unnecessary. Saying all this a good read and enjoyable but just missing the mark

This was a rollercoaster of a book. Plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked. A little unbelievable but go with it and it’s a great story.

The story is about Gemma and Dany who are the main two characters of this story. They are a perfect couple who has recently relocated to their new home because of Dannys job., only for Gemma to come home one day and finds out that Danny was missing.
There is a serial killer on the loose in Bristol who is targeting men that look like Danny.
But there is something very unusually about Danny that Gemma has never notice. There is no trace of Danny in her life and no one has heard from him in weeks…

This book sounded like a remarkably interesting and twisted thriller based on its blurb. But it wasn’t really the thriller and suspense story that I expected it to be.at the same breath there were moments that I found the plot very smart yet it wasn’t the suspense that I was expecting it to be.

I liked that the story was alternating between Gemma and the police. Yet the twists were very predictable and tedious at times. And the ending was not really what I expected, it left me lost and confused.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Amazing book !! The plot was amazing it kept me guessing all the time . I strongly recommend this book to everyone

Overall I wasn't too keen on this one, I found it fairly predictable and the characters one dimensional. It was easy to read and a decent way to pass the time but it's not a book that will stay with me for any length of time. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read and review.

While much of this still follows the pattern of unreliable narrator stories, there are a lot of people in the book who make questionable decisions. Those who are fans of this type of book will likely quickly pick up on the "twist" but it was enjoyable all the same.

This book kept me guessing right the way through! I was convinced I knew whodunnit and then there was a great plot twist near the end which went in a completely different direction - sped through reading in a few days, would recommend!

Gemma had been looking forward to spending a peaceful weekend with her husband Danny when she arrived back at their new home on the Friday evening that her perfect life went into freefall. But from the moment that she walked in the door she had the unnerving feeling that something wasn't right,Danny had promised to cook her a meal but there was no sign of him. At first she wasn't overly concerned but as the days passed her feelings of anxiety and fear grew.

After she reported his disappearance to the police she was shocked to learn that there was no evidence that Danny had actually spent any time at their new home. The police are convinced that Gemma is hiding something and she finds herself becoming the prime suspect in a murder investigation.

Gemma has to find out what happened to Danny before time runs out and she is arrested. But is she as innocent as she appears, a twisted psychopath or a pawn who has become trapped in someone's twisted game?

The chapters of this slick thriller alternated between Gemma and the police investigation which was being led by DCI Helena Dickens. Both women were vivid individuals who each had their own personal character traits but they did have one thing in common, they were both very headstrong and stubborn. Which is a good trait to have if you are trying to uncover what has happened to your husband but not when you are in charge of a murder investigation. I really liked Gemma and was routing for her as she struggled to prove her innocence but was I right too or had I been cleverly manipulated into believing that she was just a innocent wife when I'm reality she was a cunning, manipulative killer? I had mixed feelings about DCI Dickens, I started off thinking that she was a likeable character and I loved her interactions with her work partner DS Devon Clarke but she went down in my estimations as the story unfolded.

The Perfect Couple is a very well written, tightly plotted thriller that hooks in the reader from the very first page, holds you captive, keeps you guessing and frantically turning the pages. It has more twists and turns than a roller coaster,a few jaw dropping shocks, some very clever, manipulative characters and builds in intensity as the story hurtles towards the final revelations and chilling conclusion. I loved this book just as much as I loved this author's previous thriller Am I Guilty. Worth far more than five stars and very very highly recommended

The story follows main character Gemma O'Connor on a terrible ordeal in finding out what has happened to her missing husband Danny after returning home from a business trip. Being the accused of a whole heap of things by the police and being treated like muck throughout the entire investigation.

The book was very much a slow starter, seeming more like a romance at the beginning, you could feel how much Gemma loved her husband and how desperate she was for him to be returned home.

When the police are notified about the disappearance of her husband, that's when the pace picks up and things start to get a bit weird. 100% you will be acting as a detective, reading in between the lines trying to work out if Gemma has been lying to you,...

That's how I felt, I think I was 60% of the way through the book and I felt like I had been mugged off by my best friend. All the evidence pointed to Gemma. Needless to say, Gemma's character was very well written, I felt a big connection to her. I doubted her innocence but my gut feeling told me it could never have been her, she loved her husband too much.

60% of the way through and this book became un-put-down-able. Life was getting in my way of finding out the truth, and I so desperately needed the truth, I was fully invested in this story like I was living through it as a secondary character. I felt a rollercoaster of emotions while reading this book. Anger, betrayal, relief, happiness, the emotions were endless and they were up and down and loop de loop.

The closer I came to the end the more relief I felt, and I wished I had listened to my gut all along, I started to feel more at ease, like life would all soon be back to normal for Gemma, until her husband came back and then I felt HATE. I hated the author for a split second, thinking she had taken Gemma away from me. Luckily it was a false alarm, I have honestly never felt such a connection to a character before, the writing was superb and all the other characters albeit well written too, I didn't care about them, not one of them they may as well all have been secondary because I cared too much about Gemma.

Another first experience for me was the goosebumps I felt at the end, when everything turned out perfect, no more than perfect for Gemma,

I will definitely be searching up the author's previous work.

Good Little Liars

Gosh this was a puzzle and a half. I’m not sure what I expected from Good Little Liars but what started out as a really intriguing mystery, just kind of ended up confusing me and then unfortunately boring me.

Don’t get me wrong, when I say bored I don’t mean like snooze bored, I just mean I wasn’t wow’d. The ending is such a let down.

The Author set herself a really high goal with this whodunnit style read and the premise was fun: death at a school, 25years later scenario, school reunion and secrets...LOVE ALL THAT! But I needed a map 😂

I just couldn’t keep up! And then I just wasnt bothered about keeping up - am I making sense?

Whilst I wouldn’t recommend the book, I would recommend the author and I will be keeping an eye out for her in the future!

Took a little while for me to get into it, but once I did I couldn't p it down. Not the most likable characters but fortunately I like that! Twists, turns, well written and I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much!

Gemma and Danny still feel like newlyweds when they move to Bristol, where they plan to put down some roots and, eventually, start a family. For Danny, an IT specialist, and Gemma, a freelance journalist, things seem to be nearly perfect. Then, one evening, Gemma returns from a short business trip expecting to find Danny cooking the dinner he had promised to make for her. Instead, the house is empty and there is no sign of her husband. As Gemma becomes more frantic to discover what has become of Danny, she goes to the police for help, only to discover that several recent murder victims in the Bristol area resemble her husband. Has Danny become a third victim? And, why are the police suspicious of Gemma and her story about his disappearance?

Whew! What a ride! This is a psychological thriller that is hard to put down. The story moves back and forth from Gemma’s first-person perspective and the third person narrative that follows the police investigations – and it works very well. There are a number of characters that are integral to the story and they are all well-developed and interesting, and the author manages to introduce them to the reader without disrupting the flow of the story (something that is not always easy to accomplish). The dialogue is believable and the twists in the plot will keep most readers guessing right to the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Perfect Couple. It is well-written, well-designed, and a great read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

Gemma meets and marries Danny. They are a perfet couple until one day he disappears. Did she kill him? The police soon think so. Other men who look like Danny are found dead. Are these two mysteries related?
Okay, so I've read a lot. I know it is hard to come up with new ideas. So maybe I predicted what would happen earlier than I should. It's still a good book. Some parts are more believable than others, but it will keep your attention. Read it without guessing ahead.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in return for my review.
