I enjoyed each book in the Darkness series but Darkness Rising might just be my favorite. Reaper's ancient dragon is perfectly alpha but willing to learn and Greer is just the feisty healer who can teach him. Her dragon responds to his like never before and when they realize they're mates it gets even better. The characters are well defined and I liked the relationships between the various shifters. The battles are epic and it's easy to imagine dragons of all different colors flying through the sky. :Loved it!

I was apprehensive about opening this book because it would mean that I would have to say goodbye to a series I have massively enjoy. I am glad that I did because it was a perfect ending to a great series. This was a fast-paced, action-filled, page turner with love-able characters and a story that packed a punch. Reaper taking thing literally was the unbelievable hilarious. I loved that Greer didn't try to prove that she can take care of herself because she did nit need to. I am excited about the upcoming series. Per the author "It isn't goodbye. It's more like I'll see you later." I can't wait for the next one and I am hoping it's King's book.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This is the first book that I have read in this series but it was easy to read as a stand alone. There were many mated couples which I am guessing were in previous books but this did not add any confusion to understanding the plot or characters.

It was great to watch as Greer and Reaper tried to understand that they were mates and yet not what they thought their mate would be like! Reaper expected another warrior and Greer didn't want someone trying to change or control her.

As their relationship progresses, they face a supernatural takeover of their world and must band together with other supernatural shifters and work together.

I really love when there is more to the romance and this story delivered and kept me riveted as I kept reading it through to the end to see the conclusion. Great drama, hot romance, and lots and lots of action!!

This is such a creative book. I just fell into the story as Reaper exploded from the earth. This is hard to put down. Greer is so feisty and sure of her place in the world. Such a strong, determined healer. Dragons are out to dominate the entire planet in this story and I highly recommend it.

DARKNESS. RISING ..Katie .Reus
Greer was a dragon healer, and on call most of the time, needing time to herself to fly and be alone. Rumbling of the ground brought forth a dragon that had been in hibernation., he is sure of two things, another war, and that Greer is his mate. She is intrigued by this glittering dragon, but baggage first to release. Good plot, from beginning to end. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and
K.R publishers.

Katie Reus's books are always a good time - a mix of actiony goodness, steamy romance and some scorching characters. Darkness Rising opens the world of the series even more - I won't spoil the plot, but something dramatically different happens and brand new threats are uncovered, tilting the series in a new direction. I absolutely loved it and couldn't put the book down for hours. Recommend!

One of the things. I love about paranormal books is when the shifter KNOWS when they see their mate. I love that right away Reaper is saying MINE! Greer is strong and independent. This world is so interesting.

I read this as a stand alone, it was enjoyable. Greer is the healer of her clan, Reaper is an ancient dragon that has awakened because of a devastating war that will happen. He is arrogant, handsome and sure that Greer is his fated mate.
The chemistry sizzles right from the beginning, but Greer has baggage from the past that she needs to release. Of course there is a happily ever after, who wants to read a romance with a crappy ending??
Did this novel make me want to go back and read the series from the beginning? Yes. It made me interested enough to want to know how their world got to the brink of this war.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for this book!

This book is an amazing wrap up to an awesome series.. Or is it??? This was such an unexpected twist to the story line. The characters were exactly what you would expect. Greer is stronger than most realize, she is an alpha in her own way and Reaper.. Oh my Reaper. An ancient with an attitude, suprising- ha :) There is a whole group of new characters and updates on the existing characters. I enjoyed the interaction of Reaper with just about everyone. He is very literal and things we say or take for granted are confusing. Prima steals the scene a few times but hey that's Prima being Prima. I loved the interaction between new and old. The storyline, characters and flow are awesome as usual. I will just say WOW! Did not see that coming and I cannot wait to see if something happens next ;) ;)

This is book 9 in the Darkness series and while it can be read as a standalone, I would read the books before that introduce the majority of the characters that are seen in this book. This one is about Greer, who is the healer of the dragon clan and Reaper, who is an ancient who has just risen. Reaper feels as though there is a war in on the horizon and that is what woke him up. And when he wakes, the first person he see's is Greer. And feel's something for her that he doesn't believe is possible. Greer is beyond annoyed with Reaper from the first moment she meet's him. But when her Alpha sends her with him to help keep him in check and find out if there is truly anything happening, it forces her into proximity with him. And also forces her to get to know him more than what she thinks she knows. But when the worst happens, they not only have to navigate their new reality-but they have to figure out what they mean to each other.

I absolutely loved this story!! I have loved Greer since we first saw her and I am so happy she got her story told! She is still that sweet, kind woman but she is certainly no pushover. She has no problem letting out some snark when the situation warrants it. And I love that about her. Reaper is that typical Alpha male who thinks what he says goes, until he comes up against a determined woman and has to change his views. I love the way this story went from the beginning and how we have a new main story ARC to bring about new characters and stories to fall in love with! Loved it!! And I definitely need more stories about the other's that are introduced in this story!!

Greer has always been congenial, nurturing and a little feisty. Until Reaper came along. He seems to bring out the worst in Greer, and I can’t com0laon because it led to entertaining clashes! After being in hibernation for so long, Reaper had to take a crash course in modern day behavior. He’s got his own code of honor and is an alpha to the core, however, Reaper’s severe lack of filtering put him in a big pot of hot water with Greer more times then he cared for, but don’t let her demeanor fool you. Greer gave as good as she got and then some! And who knew she had such power?! I mean, I knew Greer was powerful when it came to healing, but come after someone she really cares about... simply put, Greer and Reaper made a pretty amazing team. Greer and Reaper’s romance was full of spark and heat, along with a side sweetness I wasn’t expecting, yet felt entirely appropriate to their courtship.

There’s a whole other storyline occurring in the background of Greer and Reaper’s relationship, full of deceit, danger, and devious supernaturals. The intricacies made for a riveting read and I also loved revisiting previous characters, but there were a few loose ends that left me curious. While I was hoping this wasn’t really ‘The End’ to the fantastical Darkness series, it was nice to have confirmation after reading the author’s note! I am stoked for spin-off tales!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Reaper is an ancient dragon shifter who has been in hibernation for a millennia and a warrior. When he awakes he feels that fire and death are close. But one look at Greer and he knows she’s his mate. Greer is a dragon shifter also and a healer. They go to New Orleans looking for other ancients that have awaken. When they get there, dragons are released as a clan tries to takeover the world. They must stop them before they destroy the Earth.
Awesome story with action, dragons, vampires, wolves, and sex. I loved Reaper even when he was being bossy and Greer stands up to him. Old characters and new ones.

I have a new dragon to love and his name is Reaper. He's call the Dragon of War and he's an ancient like we have learned about Prima and Mira. Boy does he have a lot to learn about the new world.

I've always been a fan of the caveman heroes and you can't get more caveman than an ancient dragon who's been in hibernation for thousands of years. Greer seems up to the challenge of teaching him that he can't just boss her around.

It was actually pretty funny to see him crash and burn so much. Prima was a hoot. She knows what Reaper is going through and she enjoyed every minute of Reaper's foot in mouth syndrome.

Greer could have been more understanding but I still liked her. She's more of a peace keeper so she really didn't see how Reaper, the God of War, could be anything for her. Despite her preferring peace, she had no problems taking charge when she needed too.

I can't speak of where the story went in this book because I don't want to spoil anything, but I like the turn the author took. It seemed fitting for the last book in the Darkness series to end the way it did.

The author does say at the end of the book notes that she will be doing a spinoff. I am very happy about this because I have really enjoyed the many characters we have gotten to know in The Darkness series and want to see more of them in the new spinoff. Especially Prima. Please, please give us a book on Prima!

The Reaper has Risen❣️

Book nine in this series is absolutely amazing😍 Greer as we have come to love and learn is a healer and doesn’t fight unless she has to! When she goes to her favourite place to recharge and relax, she’s surprised when a dragon comes out of the ground and even more surprised when she doesn’t understand him....even with her clan’s ability to understand every language there is in the world.

Reaper knows that war is coming, his dragon has ensured he will rise in time to fight but he never expected to find a female like Greer, who could possibly be his mate. War is coming and he needs to connect with other ancients to fight together❣️

I absolutely loved this story and am sad to know that it is the last of the series, but a spin-off is coming which has me super excited as I’m hoping for a resolution to August and Mira’s relationship questions and what happened when they were in South America!?! Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and Katie for my advanced copy for which I leave my honest review and I eagerly await the spin-off😍

Reaper tends to take everything literal, "he paused, watching her as he digested her words. “You would like to eff my face? I find this idea pleasing. Very pleasing.” He practically purred the last few words. “I will lie down right now and let you—” Reaper always has his woman on his kind, "...and the smell of *** made him think of taking Greer right on the countertop. Though to be fair, most anything made him think of her and * **..." I liked this book, I liked Reaper.
