Heather Graham writes another mystery/thriller that presses all the buttons at the right times! It was a quick read that introduces you to the main characters, but doesn’t spend lots of time on unnecessary detail. She gets right to the main gyst of the story....there is another murder in a place with a history of murder and mystery, known as The History Tree. At the same time, we are introduced to the main characters in the story, young college students working for their summer who think they have their future planned, but who will become star-crossed lovers, as well as guests and workers at the resort. We fast forward 12 years....and all main characters are back at the same resort, and young women are missing.....are the murders related.....and is it coincidental that the same people are back in the same place? Brock, who was suspected of the murder 12 years ago, is back to investigate as a member of the FBI. His lost love, Maura, is also back at the resort as a producer of films. The mystery surrounding who is the murderer plays out well, and I was kept guessing until the very end. I enjoyed the small side-stories of some of the characters and how they interacted. I felt the ending seemed to come rather quickly...and maybe would have liked a little more substance to the final stages of the investigation.....but all in all....I really enjoyed reading the book and would recommend it to others who favor this genre. Thank you to Net Galley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to review this ARC in return for an honest review, which this has been. #NetGalley, #TangledThreat

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and after all the great things I’ve heard and read about the writing style, I was pretty disappointed.
It took me a while to finish the book because I struggled staying awake! The story never grabbed me and sucked me in..
Overall, this was not the book for me..

This was a mystery that kept you guessing right to the very end, and I enjoyed it even more being set near where I live

Thank you NetGalley, Heather Graham, and Harlequin Intrigue Publishing for the advance copy of Tangled Threat.
This book was a very fast read. From the start Heather did not waste time in long introductions of each character. I liked that because a lot times the introduction of characters can make a story to long.
There are two stories being told in this story, a “who done it” thriller and a love story. First, the love story was well written. It was beautiful to see the interaction between Maura and Brock. Especially, since they were high school sweethearts and an unfortunate incident came between them. To see years later that they still have the same chemistry and love that they had when they were teenagers.
When it came to the thriller aspect of this story, I thought it was well written, because I could not figure out the “who done it” part of the story. I love when thrillers are hard to figure out, it makes the story more exciting. The only part that I did not like was that the discovery of who done it came very fast. It seemed one second everyone was still trying to figure out who was causing the trouble and then boom it was all figured out.
Aside from the ending feeling rushed, I truly enjoyed this story and found it to be an enjoyable read. I would recommend this book for anyone to read and give it 4 stars.

I liked the book but I did not love it. Very well written as always by this author. But not my favorite book by her. A very interesting premise but I found some of the back story unnecessary and boring. I did like the ending and was a bit surprised as to who the actual killer was.

Tangled Threat was a quick read with a second chance at love romance and an intriguing mystery.
Maura Antrim and Brock McGovern were blissfully in the throes of new love when the couple was torn apart by a murder at the infamous History Tree located at the resort where the pair worked. After Brock was arrested in connection with the murder, Maura’s parents whisked her away before they had a chance to talk after Brock was released as innocent the next day. Now an FBI agent, Brock returns to Florida to investigate the disappearance of several women connected with the History Tree. When Maura runs into Brock while working on a story about the History Tree, she’s determined to help him with the investigation as well as exploring the passion that’s still between them.
The book begins with the events from twelve years ago that tore Maura and Brock apart and I liked that the author chose to show what happened back then as it helped set the tone for the rest of the book. The present day disappearances made for an interesting mystery and I was definitely curious how the author would tie the different cases together. One thing I wasn’t a fan of was how the characters would go off on tangents about mysterious deaths/legends of the area as the stories had nothing to do with what was going on. I also had a couple issues with the ending of the mystery. I figured out who was responsible within the first few chapters of the book which was disappointing. I also think the final surprise about one of the characters made absolutely no sense and it seemed like the author just added it for shock factor.
Maura and Brock were each other’s first loves and they never got over each other due to the way their relationship ended. I’m normally a fan of second chance at love, but I had a few issues with the relationship in this book. My biggest complaint was that there was little to no buildup in their new relationship. One minute they were barely speaking and the next they’re sleeping together and back in love. I don’t mind when characters are quick to sleep with each other, but normally there’s buildup to that happening which wasn’t the case here. I will say the scenes showing their physical relationship were well done and the two had good chemistry in the bedroom. My other big issue was that they had very few conversations outside of the case, so I didn’t really see how they fell back in love. It seems like the author wanted you to believe they were in love twelve years ago and just never stopped.
Overall Tangled Threat was enjoyable enough despite my issues with the romance and the ending. I will check out books from this author in the future as she has some that look more up my alley.

Maura and Brock had a thing in the past that was until a body was found handing and Brock was blamed for the death. Its been years and now Brock is an FBI agent, and Maura is around to help him solve the case on the missing women that seems to have ties to the past.
If you like a good mystery novel with some romance you'll like this book. I loved following along with the characters getting to know them and seeing as they piece together the mystery that is happening. This isn't a book that can easily be put down if you ask me, I pretty much spent my morning diving into this book and neglecting things around me. Now that I've finished I've unfortunately gotta go back to the real world. But trust me when I say that you'll be hooked by this book from start to end.

I'm a huge fan of Heather Graham Krewe of Hunter and I liked this book even if I think that mystery part was better than the romantic one.
The cast of character is well written but the romance seems to be a bit rushed without any real chemistry between the characters.
The mystery is great and gripping, it kept me guessing till the end and was well crafted.
Recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

My first book from Heather Graham and definitely not my last, love the suspense and mystery.
Love that I keep guessing who's the killer the whole time, it might be slow in the beginning and a bit rushed in the end and I kinda wanted more of suspense then the love story, but I still really enjoying it nonetheless and what a twist, really didn't see that coming.
Good story, great characters, surprising twist, great thrill, so yeah I really like this book a lot,
If you're looking for a suspense read, you must try this book.

Maura and Brock’s teenage summer romance came to an abrupt halt upon the discovery of a dead body at the resort’s famed History Tree. Fast forward twelve years later and they both find themselves back at the resort for completely different reasons. Maura finds out that her parents blocked all of Brock’s attempts to contact her when they were young. There are several missing young women in the area and Brock has been sent by the FBI to investigate as he is familiar with the area. A well written mystery with well developed characters. I was astounded by the ending!!!

Tangled Threat is a romantic suspense book that is also a second chance romance story. Brock and Maura were teen lovers torn apart by murder and a false accusation. Now, years later, murder has brought them back to the resort where they worked summers as teens and began their relationship. When Maura becomes a target, will Brokck figure out the mystery and find her before it’s too late?
I had a harder time trying to connect with the characters in this story. The mystery was well thought out, and the story was well told. But for some reason, this book just didn’t hold my attention. Which is unusual because I love a good romantic suspense story!
NICUnurse’s Rating: Because it’s a Heather Graham story and it was well written, I give Tangled Threat 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Tangled Threat was an intriguing story filled with drama and suspense. The author definitely kept me guessing right until the bitter end. I was a bit sad that Brock and Maura were pulled away by parental interference when they were younger but did them becoming reacquainted. The ending felt a bit rushed but overall it was a good story that I finished in no time.

Heather Graham is a fairly new to me author. I've only read one short story by her and I really liked it. So when I got the chance to read Tangled Threat, I was excited about it. Tangled Threat is a pretty quick read. I loved the fact that a lot of it took place in St. Augustine, which is one of my favorite cities in the world. I love when a story takes place in a city that I'm familiar with, because then I can really picture the places that were mentioned! The couple of sex scenes that are in the book are not graphic. If you have a weak stomach, the ME report might bother you, but that isn't a huge part to the story. I did not figure out who was behind the whole thing at all until it was revealed! Overall, I really enjoyed the story and will be definitely reading more by this author. Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was a good whodunit story. Both Maura and Brock are brought back to the where they last saw each other 12 years ago. Circumstances around a murder separated them then. New murders helped bring them back to the Frampton Ranch. Though they haven't spoken in the passing years, they still have an undeniable connection. They aren't the only ones back at the ranch that were there 12 years ago. There are plenty of suspects and enough twists to keep you guessing until the end. I enjoyed the suspense and the romance. I received an advance copy of the book from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love romantic suspense and I adore a good second chance story, but this book just left me… meh. I have loved everything I’ve previously read of Heather Graham’s work, and it absolutely kills me to come to the end of this book and be so sadly disappointed with the experience. It’s obvious that a lot of research went into creating this book. I think some of the research could have been left out of the book itself, though, it made for very dry, repetitive reading. I didn’t feel an emotional connection with or between the characters. Brock and Maura’s reconciliation was too easy. There wasn’t even a real conversation before they coupled back up. I didn’t get the proper sense of urgency from the law enforcement officials working the missing persons cases either. Where I felt the energy being focused was on the cold case, not the three missing women. I have to give the author credit for completely blindsiding me with the real culprit. I had backed the wrong horse in this race and hadn’t even considered the possibility of who the villain actually was. Also, I now know a whole lot more about Florida than I ever expected to learn.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through NetGalley.

TANGLED THREAT is a quick Romantic Suspense from Heather Graham. Once Maura and Brock had a summer thing, perhaps a future if things had gone differently. Instead, they found a body at the infamous Hanging Tree, Brock was arrested as a person of interest, and Maura disappeared from the area and his life… until today.
Now both Brock and Maura are back in Florida each with a far different reason for being at the location of several missing person cases and that same Hanging Tree. Brock is there investigating the disappearances and it is with irony who has called him in on this case. Maura is there producing a video about the legend of the Hanging Tree for a client. Neither expected to see the other again, but the feelings of 12 summers ago haven’t died. Yet first, there is a mystery to solve, murder to prevent and cases to close.
I enjoyed my time in TANGLED THREAT. Since I’ve been reading Heather Graham’s work since almost her beginning I’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect given the length of a story. And I was not disappointed or surprised by this story. We have several suspects, a few red herrings, a rekindled love and an evil to stop. To say any more would give away spoilers – so you’ll have to dive into this Romantic Suspense tale to discover the details for yourself.
I’d not hesitate to recommend TANGLED THREAT to any reader who loves a good mystery with a touch of romance – or is simply a fan of Heather Graham’s work. There is a hint of a possibility of a connection with another of Ms. Graham’s series. I could not officially confirm that it’s only by recognizing certain things that I got to wondering — we’ll see if anything develops along that line.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Thanks to Netgalley, Harlequin and Heather Graham for this ARC. So if I’m being honest, I found that I was skimming over paragraphs of the history information in this book. It’s not like I don’t like ghosts and their histories, I just found some of these to be a bit to long and involved for my taste.. I did find parts of this book repetitive and think it could have been shorter. But I do like a Heather Graham and have read her before, but this book was a 3.5 for me.

Thank you Net-galley, Harlequin Intrigue for a copy of this story.
In the beginning I was hooked with this story, then it got a little slow for my liking but was still a good read, the ending was very rushed and that is why I am giving it 3 stars. I really enjoy books that keep me guessing and throwing curves, this one I figured out quick on and kept hoping it was going to prove me wrong. I loved the main characters they were strong and the story line was great, I just honestly wanted more from the ending and a bit more twists and turns to throw me off. I look forward to reading more from this author.

All I can say is wow!! This second chance romantic thriller kept me on the edge of my seat and flipping the pages as fast as I could to see what was going to happen as I was totally immersed in all that was happening. I loved Maura Antrim, video producer back at Frampton Ranch and Resort and her dynamic with the other characters especially Brock McGovern, FBI agent who she still loves twelve years later. If you enjoy well-crafted suspenseful romance, don't miss "Tangled Threat" by Heather Graham. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Brock had been called to Assistant director Richard Egan’s office. He knew he was going in assignment. Brock was an agent for the FBI in NYC office. But the assignment was back in Florida , to stay at Frampton Ranch and Resort and investigate what was believed to be three kidnappings and a murder. When he was eighteen Brosk had worked at the Ranch and been arrested for murder. He was only in jail for a night as he was proven innocent. The kidnappings nor the murder may have nothing to do with the resort. Egan said no one had the scope and experience Brock had. Three young women had disappeared from the area. Two were guests at the Frampton Ranch and Resort shortly before their disappearance. The third had left St. Augustine and was headed to the resort. The Florida Department Of Law Enforcement-FDLE- had asked for federal help and Brock specifically. They don’t want any more unsolved murders. Their afraid of a serial killer. A fourth young woman’s remains had been found not far from the resort. She had went missing months before. She was dumped in with sheets that were used by several resorts and hotels at an industrial laundry. Egan added Brock was the best man for the job. He believed Brock may solve some of the mystery of the past and quit hating his own home. Brock was the agent with a real sense of the place, the people, and the surrounding landscape. Brock had never been sure what broke him more- his arrest or the fact Maura had disappeared from his life. Twelve years had gone by, he wasn’t the same person. Maura worked with Angie who wrote a nonfiction book series. They were at the History Tree at Frampton Ranch and Resort. This was the kind of legend that made Angie as successful as she was. Being here hurt maura. Or she was at least incredible uncomfortable. Maura was CEO of her own company, providing short videos to promote writers, artists, musicians, and anyone wanting video content , including attorneys and accountants. She had garnered a great reputation. Than Angie was filming Maura telling the legends tied to the History Tree and brock showed up and escorted them back to the resort.
Great Book. I loved it. I loved the mystery, intrigue, and action. I loved Brock and Maura together and how they interacted. I truly loved the plot and pace. I loved how they were determined to find the girls and get the answers they needed, from past and present. I loved the ending. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.
