Nice read. Character were believable. Enjoyed reading this short novel by my long time favorite author.

I have tried to read this about 4-5 times and even though it’s a quick read, I just cannot get into it. I thought putting the two genres I love most (romance and mystery) would result in an amazing read but I dislike both main characters and can’t seem to advance. I’ve never read this author before but I do enjoy her writing style.

I liked the mystery and the ghosts in this story. Maura and Brock were young and in love. They worked together until a tragedy tore them apart. Twelve years later, they meet again. It is a bit of a shock, but the feelings are still there. Brock is now an FBI agent and has been tasked to find some missing girls and it all centers around the place where he and Maura were torn apart. He had put the past behind him and moved on, but this was a chance to put it all to rest. He didn't count on Maura being there and the danger lurking there again. Will everything tear them apart once more or will they be able to weather this storm?

TANGLED THREAT by Heather Graham. This is the story of two young lovers reconnecting after several years. But moreso, it is the story of murder and mystery and danger all around. I did enjoy this tale, although at times, I found the history a bit much. I understand it was to give a background to the legends but, for me, it dragged a bit during those times. Despite that, I did like our main characters - Maura and Brock. Ms. Graham certainly provided a lot of mystery with several suspects, keeping the reader guessing throughout. Not a bad read, although, again, wish there was a bit more focus on the couple reconnecting or the actual acts of crime then the history. (received ARC from NetGalley for honest review)

Quick read once I had time to sit down and read. It was an ok book, some confusing back and forth at the beginning, the middle was really good and the ending felt rushed to me. It seemed like "here's who did it, let's get this story finished." I liked the mystery and idea of the book, but felt it could have been accomplished a little better. Will have to try another Heather Graham book in the future.

This book is a lot shorter than some of Heather Graham’s other works, but it is just as good. It is published under the Harlequin Intrigue line of books.

Maura Antrim and Brock McGovern work at a historical place where a lot of death has occurred around an ancient tree that intertwined with a palm tree. They call it the History Tree, although it is whispered it is the Terror Tree. People have been found dead around it or went missing after visiting it. During a tour where Maura and Brock lead a bunch of people around the sites, they discover the dead body of one of their co-workers. Brock is immediately taken into custody after an anonymous tip and Maura’s parents whisk her away from the scene immediately changing all her social media accounts and her email and phone number. The two didn’t have contact after that day.

The book starts with Brock, now an FBI agent, being asked to look into some disappearances of women down by the History Tree. He is cautious. Too many memories lie back in that place. That is why he made his home in New York, about as far north in America you can get without getting out of the country. Maura has started a very profitable business where she makes short videos that go viral and help other businesses make theirs a success. They meet again at the History Tree. Tension ensues.

I thought this book was great. Pretty slow in the beginning but we were being introduced to the cast, so it is not a section to overlooked. I felt like I was missing a few red herrings leading me to other suspects considering whom ended up being the ultimate bad guys. I tried to look back and see if I missed some subtle clues but I didn’t pick up on even one to indicate this person wasn’t completely on the up and up. It was indeed quite a surprising twist.

I am not certain what the ultimate purpose was in kidnapping the women but it did become the catalyst that brought Brock and Maura back together. I felt like they reunited too soon but it was about at the 50 percent point in the book when they rediscovered their love and realized why they had never found another significant person in their lives.

It was just the guilty please read I needed containing both and love, mystery and thriller. Definitely pick this up if you love a good intrigue.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Tangled Threat by Heather Graham

Harlequin Intrigue series book.
Fast paced, stories of ghost in Florida, mystery.
Lovers reunited. Maura and Brock. Turns out he did try to contact her but her parents interfered. Twelve years later they finds themselves together with the same feelings.
Tame on the sizzle scale. Sex scenes are about three sentences long with no real heat.
The mystery of women disappearing has depth with plenty of suspects.
A bit rushed at the end where explanations occur in the epilogue.

I’ve read and still have on my shelves dozens of books by Heather Graham. She can tell a good story.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley

I feel the book started out strong, had a great middle but the ending kind of fell flat for me. The ending really was stretching it on how and why their were murders at the resort. I don’t want to give too much away. Overall I enjoyed the story, but the ending was a bit rushed and all over the place

While the story is fast paced and well thought out, I felt that writing style was very choppy and unimaginative. This felt like reading an outline instead of a novel and it was very distracting.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read and review this title.

This is a quick read. While the murders and missing women are the basis for the mystery, the reuniting of several people twelve years later become the most interesting. Did they really change? A few surprises along with hints of a probable culprit.

I have been a Heather Graham fan forever...her Krewe of Hunters series is an auto buy for me. Tangled Threat is an excellent non-Krewe book. If you haven't read Heather's books it's a good one to jump into and get your feet wet. I really liked Maura and Brock. They had been teen lovers 12 years before when a gruesome murder tore them apart. Now a series of disappearances and a couple of bodies have brought them back together. Brock is now with the FBI and Maura is a one-man production company of video shorts films.
While all the characters are well developed and interesting the setting of this book 8 takes front and center...this is part of the charm of her books. Heather always includes fascinating bits of the history of the area that her stories are set in. I love learning these historical facts. My only complaint is that the ending seemed a little rushed.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A murder mystery that has all kinds of twists and turn that you won't be able to see coming. A tree on a property that has a spooky history is the setting for this story. There is a magnificent chemistry between the characters and the story line is wonderful

This book was just okay for me. The ending felt very rushed and I knew who the killer was 1/2 way through the book.

This was a great book. This author never disappoints me. As usual, this book held my interest from the beginning until the end. You never know what to expect, it is never who I think it is. That is why I enjoy her books, they keep me guessing.

New York FBI Agent Brock McGovern has been requested, by Florida Law Enforcement, to return to his hometown in Florida to investigate a case of missing women and a murder. The investigation revolves around the Frampton Ranch, an area he is familiar with and where he was once unjustly arrested for murder. Maura Antrim never forgot the night a body was found hanging in the famous History Tree, nor the loss of her first love, Brock. Maura is stunned when Brock returns to town, but will she find out why he left and never contacted her? The danger from twelve years ago is still alive. Will they be able to find the missing women before it is too late? The beginning was a little confusing for me, but once I had a better grasp of the characters, the story began to flow. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

This book was just ok for me. It didn't have that edge that draws me in and makes it not be able to put it down. I was surprised at the ending.

Poor Gyselle!

Ponce de Leon claimed to have found the Fountain of Youth.

From being arrested to the FBI?

Angie Parsons needs a chill-pill.

Carl Tanzler was so creepy!

Oy. He needs to learn how to talk to people.

Poor Katie.

Yeesh, Nils, Marie and Donald are all suspects in my book.

Angie, wait for a press conference!

Rachel went from bubbly ditz to Debbie Downer.

Holy moly!

Aww.

Although this was a decent story, it was just okay. It didn't jump out at me as I would have liked. I passed a pleasant couple of days reading this but I wouldn't run right out and buy it.

My thoughts

Rating :5

Would I recommend it?yes

Would I read anything else by this author?yes in fat she's one of my favorite romance author's to read

This book is a stand alone so you can read it when ever you want to, its perfect for anytime , because of the atmosphere that it has , history of the place , ghost stories told around an old spooky tree, and murder , a wrongful arrested and untold romance that goes south for a while, then you have the age old question who doing it , messing girls and then reman history repeats itself. This story just like every one of her stories I've read had me hooked from the very start, it has me question every thing I knew about the characters and the more I read and found out about them the more I either liked them or hated them. With that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review it exchange for my honest opinion .
