WOW, I only had time to read the first two pages in my lunch hour but boy oh boy did Adele Parks stark introduction have me hooked!
Daisy, Simon and their longed-for daughter Millie are a wonderful tight-knit family of three, that is until Simon’s drinking starts to spiral out of control and sets in motion a chain of events which are life changing for all of them.
Lies, Lies and yet even more Lies, they just kept coming and I absolutely loved every one of them.
Adele has written an extremely intoxicating (excuse the pun) story that left me gasping for breath with all of the shocking twists, most of which I never saw coming. To top it all off, the ending is brilliantly told, totally unexpected and extremely explosive!

Outstanding! This book has great characters, brilliant story that kept me guessing until the very end. I do not hesitate to recommend this book about Daisy the teacher and her husband Simon the alcoholic. The love of their life is their perfect daughter Millie.
An event happens to alter their world. 10/10

Wow! I was utterly gripped by this book. A well written, twisting, turning, dark and at times, horrifying tale of life, relationships and love. Sadly, I was disappointed by the end which didn’t really seem to fit or be believable- one last twist that was a twist too far for me.

I enjoyed this book - right up until the very last twist ( and I'm not going to spoil it for you) but safe to say, it's very outlandish and let's the rest of the story down which up until that point had been relatively entertaining. I have to say that I have been a fan of Adele Parks in the past and had to look again to check that she was the author of this, which I must admit is not of a standard of her previous books :(

At first I thought I wouldn’t like this book as the subject matter seemed depressing. However, I was wrong. Out of tragedy comes hope and redemption. A gripping novel that makes you want to keep reading, and a very satisfying ending. Believable characters and situations, and just enough tension and mystery to keep you turning the pages and hoping for a satisfying denouement. Well worth reading.

My thanks to Adele Parks, HQ and Net Galley for the ARC of LIES, LIES, LIES.
I found this novel difficult to read for a number of reasons. I would not generally read a book about alcoholism but it was clear to see that it infiltrated of the foundation of this family and why this would be the basis of a compelling mystery. I found Daisy a difficult character to like, and I felt cross with her sometimes because she allowed her daughter, Milly to be so affected by her husband's problems. She was very slow to act and didn't try too hard to protect her daughter from it. I skimmed or speed read quite a lot of it, but maybe the style of the novel didn't suit me. I have read Adele Parks before and been impressed so I'm thinking it was the subject matter that was a turn off for me. The ending wasn't to my taste. I can only think her desperation must have driven her to do what she did but I couldn't help wondering if it was physically or medically possible. I'm sure someone will put me right on that.

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a full & frank review, so a frank review is what I’ll give. At first I wasn’t sure about it, even though it had other good reviews, a few chapters in I didn’t think it was for me. It felt dark , a wife’s struggle with an alcoholic husband , and I found myself being irritated by her inability, or unwillingness perhaps , to stand up to him. But, even though I did admittedly ‘speed-read’ a few pages I was still intrigued by what the outcome was going to be, and the twists did keep me guessing so I found myself being drawn into it more and more. This of course has to be down to the author and her ability in her writing to promise more just around the next corner which keeps the reader engaged . It’s not a lighthearted read , it’s not ‘beach read’, it’s an in depth psychological thriller centred around family, friends and relationships, but it is a good read, and makes you reevaluate some of your opinions.

Fantastic read . Totally absorbing read in one sitting. Great twisting storyline that keeps you on your toes. Dealing with many issues this book shows the authors attention to detail. This was very well written and researched.
Simon and Daisy have many problems to overcome Ian’s the way in which this story unfolds will keep you guessing right to the end. Highly recommended

Lies Lies Lies
This book is so moving it made me cry a few times when another part of the story was uncovered. I felt so sorry for Daisy. After a few happy few years of marriage her and Simon were still waiting for a baby. Then they have Millie. But Simon has a drinking problem which gets out of control and ends in Mollie being seriously injured. Simon goes to prison and this is when little by little the lies that were told are slowly revealed. A fantastic book. Well worth reading. Thanks to Netgalley for my copy.

LIES LIES LIES is a twisty page-turner that tackles infertility, alcoholism and marital conflict. It kept me reading purposefully until the end; I wanted to know the outcome. Adele Parks is clearly an experienced writer who knows her craft and is confident switching between two narrators and perspectives. The novel delivers a convincing portrayal of alcoholism - although I found the prologue unnecessary and confusing in terms of character development, the later scenes of adult Simon’s drunken inner voice are compelling.
Unfortunately, beyond Simon's alcoholism, I struggled with the credibility of LIES LIES LIES. The characters - their behaviour, motivations and dialogue – the settings, the key points of medical and automotive realities; I was unconvinced at almost every twist and turn. So then silly little things that I wouldn’t normally notice began to grate irrationally (Jaguar don’t make a people carrier, although Lucy might drive the F-Pace SUV; only the insanely rich could afford a house in Notting Hill with a front and back garden; WHERE in 'North London' do Simon and Daisy live? North London is a big, heterogeneous place!) – I actually Googled the more plot-critical facts like a slightly obsessive weirdo to check I was right (I was, but I can't say what they are without spoilers).
I struggled to sympathise with Daisy because I never felt I knew her as a character; her actions and reactions seemed determined by what the plot needed her to do to reach its unlikely denouement. She is, essentially, a plot device.
I like drama to be created with dialogue rather than exposition. There is a lot of exposition in LIES LIES LIES and really not much dialogue. Most of the crucial back story is told rather than shown – and indeed the present story too.
This is the first of Adele Parks’ books I’ve read, although she's been on my radar for years, and perhaps I’m just not the target audience. However she obviously has many loyal readers who I’m sure will devour this book and thoroughly enjoy it. So I would recommend LIES LIES LIES if you're already a fan of Adele Parks, but if you're coming to this title through an appreciation of other novels in the 'domestic noir' genre, then you may want to approach with caution.

I have read a few Adele Parks before and have not particularly liked them. This one was slow to get going and I was beginning to dislike the main characters, but once it did take off it was gripping to the point of not wanting to put it down. There are lots of short reviews on this one - I think it is because it is difficult to discuss the characters and plot without giving anything away, and there are quite a few twists; some of which made me gasp - the last one stretched credibility a little. But very entertaining!

This book for me was a slow starter because in my head I couldn’t decide where the story was going....BUT keep reading I ended up not being able to put it down I know so much about addiction now and the consequences how life can change and assumptions are not always what we think they are if you want a gripping story with meaning then this is one to read loved it!!

Told from the dual perspectives of husband, Simon and wife, Daisy, we follow their decision (an ambivalent one in Daisy's case) to undergo IVF in order to conceive a sibling for their beloved daughter, Millie. However, a shock revelation during a consultation sends their marriage into a tailspin. This also sets Simon on a destructive downward spiral into full-blown alcoholism, which has devastating repercussions for the entire family. I enjoyed this novel as an easy read (despite its weighty subject matter), but at times I felt frustrated with the actions of some of the characters. The ending was a huge disappointment; I couldn't reconcile the resolution as being consistent with the thoughts and motivations of the characters throughout the rest of the novel.

Adele is such a superior writer, her novels are consistently good and this was no exception. I loved it, read it in 6 hours, a record for me! Engaging characters and twisty storyline, read it now!

This is another great book by Adele Parks. I enjoyed it so much I had it read in less than 24 hours. The main characters Daisy and Simon have always had a good marriage, apart from his liking for a drink. But the more he drinks, the more their marriage unravels. And secrets start to be unearthed! If you like a book where you don’t see the twists coming then this book is for you. I will definitely be in line to read the next novel by this author.

I have to say, although this book isn’t a crime book, which is my genre, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had more twists and turns than most crime novels, and whilst relationship books are not my cup of tea, it was excellent.
At the beginning Simon’s drinking really annoyed me, but as the story enfolds you can see why he does it, and in the end o had a great deal of sympathy for him. Daisy, is no saint and she has her own secrets too, but of course you tend to sympathise with her. Her friends are a tight bunch, and while a little ‘over the top’ they are true friends and stick together through thick and thin. There was only one character I disliked intensely and you will know when you read the book.
My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for the ARC.

Mild spoilers.
Absolutely brilliant - like all of Parks' other books it grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go until the end. A storyline I have thought about many times since putting the book down. Clearly well researched regarding prison, this realism really added to the story as too often prison life just isn't 'right' within novels.
Definitely one to reread now I know all of the twists - always the mark of a good book.
Very, very highly recommended.

Daisy and Simon have been together for a long time and have a six year old daughter Millie. They struggled to have Millie, so it's no surprise they are struggling to have another child. Simon has always relied heavily on alcohol, and we quickly learn how their family is quite strained.
When Simon and Daisy go to a party one night the night doesn't end well. Everyone's lives are turned upside down and no-one can get any lower.
When you tell a lie another lie usually replaces the first lie, and as the story unfolds, we learn a lot of twists and turns which made this book a great read.

You know when you pick up an Adele Parks book you are in for a good read. Again this book does disappoint. Simon and Daisy to the outside world have everything. They are parents to Millie. However,Simon is desperate for another child but Daisy already feels their little family is complete. They struggled for a decade to conceive last time. She doesn’t want to go there again.
Following an appointment at the fertility clinic , Simons life begins to fall apart.
Adele Parks describes in this wonderfully written book how lies destroy the lives of Simon and Daisy and those around them.

This book is amazing and one of the best that I’ve read this year.
Adele Parks is one of my favourite authors and this is definitely a stand out of hers.
I was hooked from page 1 and couldn’t put it down.
I’d recommend this book to everyone and it’s worthy of a big fat 5 stars. Go and read it, I can guarantee you’ll love it as much as I did!
