A clever and well-plotted psychological thriller set in the French countryside in the 1970s, a twisted tale of rape, murder, lust and revenge. It’s a slow burn of a novel, which I very much enjoyed, as only gradually does the reader begin to see that there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. The central female character is intriguing and unusual to say the least, and overall the novel avoids stereotypes and clichéd storylines. It kept me guessing to the end, and I appreciated reading such an original and unpredictable exploration of the darker side of human nature.

One Deadly Summer by Sebastien Japrisot is a twisty, breathtaking at times story! The characters are great and the point of views the story is told from is awesome!
