I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review via NetGalley. .Thrillers are one of my favorite genres and this book delivered. It kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. This was quite an intense thriller and it definitely kept me reading! It is full of twists and shocks I hated to have to put it down.

Pono Hawkins is called to come to Paris by his friend Mack. Pono gets there to find Mack has been captured by the terrorist who once held both of them when in Special Forces. Pono must work with the French Intelligence to stop a nuke bomb they believe will be used on the Eiffel Tower, Pono wants to save Mack and now his wife has been taken. That is number one with getting Mustafa but the relationship of the French with the Muslims is complicated. Time is running out.

I made the mistake of reading this Mike Bond title AFTER reading The Last Savannah and I just doesn't compare. I felt as though I was reading a different author. I don't know the timeline of his releases, if this was an early release, I understand. So many "Pono's" already out there. Please, Mike, focus on historical fiction and geographic depth.

Great novel, highly recommend for those who enjoy the genre. Will be recommending for immediate purchase.

This was probably the best one in the series about #PonoHawkins By #MikeBond. Good story and we get to know more about Ponos background. This was a great thriller set in Paris with lots of twists. I actually really enjoyed it. Many thanks to #BigCityPress and #Netgalley

The basic story is good, but there is an undertone that seems to be a bit islamophobic. It is a story about terrorism, so I can see that there is always a target, but it seemed a little different in this read. It is a fine line, but this one crossed a little too much for my taste.

I had to DNF this. Found I was only reading the first lines of each paragraph and not missing the story. Too many words. The Hawaii history was good but a little overkill and also with the environmental sensitivities. All of this took away from the murder mystery. The store ifself wasn’t too bad, he just needed to stick to the story. It was almost like he thought he had to explain everything to his reader because we weren’t smart enough to read his books.

This was an ok read but the plot took three quarters of the book to unfold and the conclusion seemed rushed. I did not particularly like the way that this book was written so cannot really recommend.

This book was fast paced. Hard to put down. It flowed well and it was very well written. It caught hold of me and had me hooked from the start . I was literally on the edge of my seat reading this book.

This thriller focuses on the destruction of Paris by a terrorist cell. Pono is the only one left alive that can identify Mustafa al-Boudienne. Join Pono on a thrilling, action filled journey to save the city.

A thriller that is currently very topical as it focuses on the threat of terrorism in France.
The main character has a deeply personal reason for finding the terrorists, as well as the wider threat it is necessary to prevent, so this is more interesting than many typical `stop the terrorist` novels.
For many the writing in the first person narrative makes the novel more personal and easier to relate to but I felt this would have been better told in the third person - somehow, although it included many feelings and observations, it didn't quite involve me 100%.
Also, whilst it could be argued that Bond is very successful in creating a fear about terrorism, I was left feeling quite depressed, rather than relieved, despite the positive result.

Thank you to NetGalley and Big City Press for this copy in exchange for an honest review.

Not a huge fan of this title. I enjoyed the first third of the book, then it seemed too political and roaming, in search of a real plot.

Great book! Fast-moving thriller from beginning to end. In this action filled novel, Mike Bond depicts the corruption of politicians willing to sell their country to the highest bidder. But also the dangerous battle against Muslim terrorists by true French patriots. Pono Hawkins is called on be the tip of the spear in this battle, finding true love in the process, and risking his life against almost impossible odds. If you like real terrorism thrillers, don't miss "Goodbye Paris."

I got a good halfway through and found the Islamophobia so distasteful, I stopped. I also did not fund credible the harm of women who accommodate sharing him with others. So not for me on several counts...

I have read this book for a honest review. I know this book has already come out. I am a little behind on some of my e-arcs. I gave this book 3 stars. I have not one of his books before and it was okay but not one of favorite mysteries. It didn't help that this book is the third in a series even though you really didn't have to read the other two books to figure out what was going on. What really bothered me about this book was all the characters in the story. There were way too many to keep track of. There were flash backs also that weren't separated out by a different font so it did take me awhile to figure this out. After all is said and done this was a good story and kept me wondering and excited to figure out if he would get his guy. I also didn't like how you aren't told who was the police leak, maybe we aren't to know yet who knows.
The story is about a guy named Pono who goes to Paris because his old buddy Mack calls him to tell him that an old enemy is a live that they thought was died. When Pono gets to Paris his buddy is kidnapped and later so is his buddy's wife.
He spends the next two weeks trying to find his buddy and wife and the old enemy. He runs into problems because of a possible police leak. He also falls in love with a fellow comrade who has two children and whose husband was killed. I would recommend this book if you read the first two books so you can get to know the main character better and not be slightly lost in his life.

Mike Bond’s latest thriller Goodbye Paris sees Pono Hawkins leave his surfboard and harem behind, travelling all the way to France to help his special forces friend Mack. What follows is a ‘covert’ cat and mouse game of hunt the terrorist before Paris is destroyed. ‘Covert’ because the deck is stacked against Pono with more leaks than a rusty colander. At every turn he is outmanoeuvred by the very people who should be helping him but they are playing political shenanigans with him and the future of France. A fast paced thriller which gives food for thought.

I received an arc copy for honest review from the Publisher and Meryl Moss Media. Thank you so much to them for giving me the opportunity to read Goodbye Paris and share it.
I found Goodbye Paris to be a very average read. It didn't really grip me. For an action thriller, it was kind of a slow read. I'm not getting what makes Pono Hawkins so great or desirable? I'm not getting why all the women want to sleep with him. Why he would have three girlfriends at once.
I feel like this story was kind of bogged down with tangents. It didn't stay with the action. It didn't thrill me. When it did have action and chase things, it was fun, but it tended to get a little stagnant during the down time.
I thought it was a really interesting take on Paris as it is now. I don't think it's going to appeal to very politically correct readers because of how it illustrates how Paris has been taken over by Muslim Extremists, how the government really does nothing about it.
The author seems very knowledgable of all these places and history, but he sometimes has a dull way of writing it.
I'm glad I got the chance to read Goodbye Paris. It was a good read. It might not be everyone's cup of tea. It offers a really interesting perspective of the takeover of Paris. The ending isn't exactly triumphant or hope filled, because the problem is still there. Just one of Hydra's heads has been cut off and many will grow back.
Thanks to the publisher and Meryl Moss Media for letting me give it a read for honest review.

This is a great book with normal special forces action and thrills, but what makes it great is the integration of Islamic terrorism. The author cleverly avoids tagging every Muslim a terrorist but shows them as terrorist who have hijacked a religion. Paris could be doomed with report that Mustapha has arrived or is about arrive and could only mean trouble. Not only does it provides exciting action, it also raises some important questions for European societies on how the surge in Islamic migrants are integrated into local cultures or prevented from entry. The terrorists have been able to hide easily without restriction and this is multiplying the danger, sobering.

Goodbye Paris by Mike Bond

I liked the main character and action in this book. However, the overarching anti-Muslim push was difficult to ignore. It tainted the read and made it difficult to enjoy.

I received a copy of this book for review purposes.
