I’m cleaning up my bookshelf and trying to give reviews for past books I’ve read. I know I read this when it came out - I gave it 3 stars on Goodreads back in 2012. I RARELY give out 4-5 stars, so it must have been a good story. Thanks for the advanced reader copy!

I requested this title back before my blogging break. I have ended up with a number of titles that are overwhelming to catch up on now I am back from my blogging break. I am regretfully not going to be reading and reviewing this title, but now I am back from my blogging break, I am looking forward to reading and reviewing some of your future titles. Thank you so much for the opportunity and apologies.

I had initially marked this book as I will not give feedback, as I requested/DLs in 2012 and upon a review of my netgalley titles I was no longer interested in this title as my reading tastes have changed since then. In trying to improve my netgalley ratio I have learned that titles marked as not giving feedback do not count as a review. So writing this to thank you for the approval but I will not be reading or reviewing at this time. If that changes in the future I will leave a review on instagram, goodreads, storygraph, and amazon.

Unfortunately this book was not for me and I DNF. I did not realise at the time it was children’s. My son however is coming up to the age this is best suited for so I will be getting him to give it a go.

Started off as a compelling premise, but as I progressed through the pages, it didn't captivate me as much as I hoped it would. The main character was intriguing at first, but the spark of curiosity only went so far.

Sadly this book just wasn't for me.

Unfortunately this was not a book for me. I liked the idea of the story but just could not seem to get on with the characters and the way it was written. There was a bit left to be desired in the storytelling and the character development I felt.
Maybe as I left it so long to read and my tastes have changed since then, that is a factor in me not quite getting along with the story.
