Adorable collection! I loved unicorns growing up and it was interesting to hear the stories behind them and learn why they still have a magical appeal as an adult.

Certainly was more than I expected.
I started reading expecting to learn some lore about unicorns but learned so much more. By having an open mind about mythological spirit guides, Llewellyn's Little Book of Unicorns show readers how to connect with a unicorn spirit. This book has several excercises to help you achieve your goal.

Llewellyn’s Little Book of Unicorns provides recommendations for finding everyday inspiration and magic in your life utilizing the concept of unicorn energy and magic. The book is well-written and the author includes frequent exercises to engage the reader. I particularly enjoyed the beginning chapter about the history of unicorn folklore around the world. Ultimately I did not finish the book because the concept of unicorn magic/energy as described did not end up speaking to me, but spiritual beliefs are very individual so others will likely feel differently. I do think that individuals who are open to spirituality utilizing unicorn spirit guides, chakras, crystals, and dreams will enjoy this book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. The opinions in this review are honest and my own. #LlewellynsLittleBookOfUnicorns #unicorns

Really nice for those who connect with unicorns. An introduction to some topics like chakras, dreams, passions, crystals decluttering, the need to believe. Get some tips and exercises to work with the unicorn energy.

Although this book was edited well and flowed fine, I feel like I’ve read this information numerous times before. Except Angela A. Wix put Unicorns in place of Angels, Spirit Guides, Totem Animals, ect…
Unicorns are hot right now so it was a good marketing idea either on her part or that of the editors. It drew me in to want to read the book, so they knew what they were doing in that regard. The historical aspects of the unicorn was interesting, but didn’t make up for the lack of original self-help ideas.

I can never understand when people have guided meditation in written form. If I’m going to be guided through a meditation practice, I want it read to me so I can relax and visualize what is going on. I can’t see it being very effective if you have to continual stop your practice to read what you are supposed to be thinking about next. If you are okay with reading a guided meditation then those parts of the book may really be enjoyable to you. For me, it would not be something I would use.

And one other part that really stuck out to me was the Unicorn Mist. As a Certified Aromatherapist, safety is always a factor when it comes to essential oils. Below is a very basic rundown, but there is more that goes into the safety then the few sentences I have here.

Citrus oils can be very harmful to cats. Their livers can not metabolize them and they are very sensitive to phenols. Tea Tree oil is very harmful to dogs.
Not only is the safety towards animals not talked about, but whenever you use an essential oil on skin, you need to have a carrier oil with it.
And nothing is talked about in regards to preserving the mist. Either making a new batch every week or using alcohol or some other preservative so it doesn’t grow mold. Who wants to put mold on their skin or in the air?!?

If you rarely read self-help books or really like unicorns you may want to read this one. But with the lack of originality and the incomplete information on the essential oils this is not a book I would recommend.

A very good book full of food for thought and well written.
It's not a book for unicorn lover as it's using unicorn as a metaphor and guiding you to look inside yourself.
A very interesting and useful read.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Although I had to give up reading for several personal reasons, I kept thinking about this book. The author has an enviable charisma, which combines with her vast knowledge about these striking creatures. It helped me recover my inner child on more than one occasion. In short, a book that many will like.

In this wonderful book on self reflection, you are opened up to numerous paths to improve your overall well being. I enjoyed the stories the author told about her own life experiences, as she instructs you on how to reach your true inner self. I found several of the exercises to be extremely beneficial, to my personal path of enlightenment. This book explains how our lives are influenced by our experiences, and how we perceive them. We only need to open our eyes to see the true meaning of what the universe is trying to tell us." Llewellyn's Little Book of Unicorns" by Angela A. Wix inspires you to obtain a grounding clarity to your true self.💜#Netgalley #Llewellyn'slittlebookofunicorns

I love Unicorns. Like I really love them. I've got plushies, stickers, knick knacks and much more. So when I saw this book on NetGalley, I just had to ask for it. I was expecting this book to be much different than it was. I was thinking it would be more along the lines of the book Unicorns The Myths, Legends, & Lore by Skye Alexander with history, cultural differences, you know, that kind of stuff but this was more about using the Unicorn as a type of magic... like imagination, finding beauty in things, and it even talks about the chakras.

It's a very informative little book, well written and it's small enough that you could take it on the go. I just feel a bit... mislead? Again, not a bad book, it's great! I loved the exercise with the zipper for your third eye! That's going to come in handy for me fore sure!

I just felt like this book was going to be something much different. If you go into this knowing what you're getting, you'll love it. Simple as that.

Will go live on blog: 8/14/2019

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.

like a few other reviewers, I was under the wrong impression as to what this book was about... if you're looking for a book about just unicorns.. thi sisn't it.

This book was not at all what I was expecting. I requested it thinking that I get a well written history of unicorns from a well respected "new-age" publisher. However, this book is more about unicorns as a catch all term for magical projections. While not a poorly written book by any means, it wasn't one I could get into.

Llewellyn's Little Book of Unicorns is a guided meditation and philosophy book using the history and cultural significance of the unicorn archetype throughout history to help readers find more satisfaction and happiness in their lives. Due out 8th Sept. 2019 from Llewellyn publications, it's 264 pages and will be available in ebook and hardcover formats.

Author Angela Wix is a poet, philosopher, massage therapist, and holistic practitioner. Llewellyn publications has a long history printing new age and alternative titles. If that sounds like this book is full of new age 'woo', well, it is, honestly. That being said, I (firmly 'school of western medicine' and about as non-'woo' as it's possible to be) found quite a lot of interesting food for thought here. This is a well structured and well written book. The author has a sure voice and a deft touch with the written word. She's not strident or preachy and I found a lot to like.

The foreword and introduction (~5% of the content) include lists of guided exercises, tips and illustrations as well as a discussion of what unicorns are and what they represent in terms of this book. The following chapters are broken down into discussions of various aspects of the archetype and how to adjust our perceptions to initiate change in our lives.

This book would have relevance to a wide variety of readers, not only new-age, alternative philosophy believers. I was also surprised by the author's wit and humor. She describes an encounter she had with a butterfly sitting on a pile of poo early on in the book which actually made me giggle out loud. She also turned it into a learning opportunity and I came away from reading it both delighted with the mental image and having learnt something valuable.

There is also a short bibliography and further reading section for continuing one's personal journey.

Four stars, likely 5 for people who are interested in practical magic and alternative philosophy.

Sorry for possible English mistakes!!!
When I saw this title here on NetGalley I said "Unicorns? Hmmm...fluff? Unreal fantasy? What to do?" but I followed my "unicorn" voice that there is something much more here behind the veil so I ask for this book. And all I can say, thanks to the author, publishers and this site. In this little book very profound esoteric teachings are presented. Anyone with little experience will instantly recognize similar techniques of spiritual development from other well known systems. But what is here, in this book, is unique because all these methods are presented in an incredible lucid way that one will be able to better understand the original systems as well. So what is behind unicorns method ? It is something beautiful, now I can say that unicorns rocks ! Discover! Of course, beside that it was interesting reading even though at one or two places text is little preachy.
Amazing and practical little book.

I was excited to receive an early copy of this book. I thought it would me more of a fun read, but it was not, for me at least. The book is very informative about unicorns and their magical nature, but just a bit boring. Anyone who has a great interest in the history of unicorn would definitely benefit from this in depth book.

I received an arc of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

What?

I had absolutely no idea that ''unicorn magic'' was a thing, but okay. It was informative, but since I quickly lost interest in the subject, I got bored.
