The beginning of this book was great. Then it got confusing. I was lost most of it as to whether I was in the past or the present thus had trouble keeping up with the story.
Renia helps run a flower shop. After Alain, one of her best customers and closest friends passes away suddenly, she becomes absorbed in the circumstances surrounding his death. She believes it may have something to do with the Violet Smoke, a mysterious flower she has been entrusted with the care of. The flower possesses odd properties that Renia believes may have an effect on people similar to opioids. This flower is so mysterious and powerful that others are after it as well, including her sister Estera and Estera's boyfriend, Zbiggy.
The story soon begins to turn more from the flower to Renia's struggle to stay afloat financially after her boss Palomer finds her flower shop having money troubles, partially because Palomer herself keeps dipping into their funds to take exotic trips!
Renia finds herself doing odd and crazy (and sometimes scary) jobs for Zbiggy which have her often running for her life.
It is a good book but just very oddly written which makes it hard to understand.

A very interesting and unique story. Quite a slow build but well paced and very beautifully written. Recommended for a different read. Like nothing I’ve ever read x
