I am so glad Jennifer L. Scott wrote this book! It's a perfect primer on etiquette for small kids, and she shares it in such an accessible way in both language and whimsical illustrations. It often frustrates me that it feels so many of our manners and thoughtfulness are lost in the age of technology - it matters so much that we are raising people that know how to relate to one another, and interact in a thoughtful and respectful way with people in a way that shows we are care for them by the way we care for ourselves. This would be a great book for a kids' birthday party!

This is a book I wish I had when I was a child.
It’s wonderful structured and has practical ideas to teach good manners to children at home or at school.

This book is amazing! As a parent I enjoy having books that creates a platform for kids to practice needful skills in an approachable way. It is not a book that seems to simply preach at kids and wag the finger as it talks about manners and how one should conduct oneself. Rather, this book takes them along for a ride and practically applies each lesson while keeping the reader engaged in a positive way.

This book includes some neat simple illustrations to help kids visualize what something looks like.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to teach their kids etiquette. The content is great. It is more than just teaching manners and being polite. For example, touching on topics such thankfulness—the kids are given a short history of Thanksgiving, reasons for being thankful, and several different ways in which to express their gratefulness.

Jennifer L. Scott's messages of poise and etiquette aimed at adults appeal to me, so I was quite curious to see her approach to helping children to gain these qualities that are increasingly less common place in today's world.

Reading this guide for parents and their children brought back memories of childhood lessons and I found an appreciation for the range of topics and the different approaches that are suggested. While some of the approaches may work better than others, depending on individual personalities, the ideas that are presented are well worth considering.

As someone with several decades of experience as an aunt, and a great aunt in more recent years, this is a book I would recommend for those with or without children. Written in a manner that is suitable for children who read at an intermediate level or above, as well as for reading as a family, there is value here for those who are not parents but whose relationships with children may enable them to be a role model.

I have been a big Madame Chic fan for years. Jennifer Scott has written a great book on manners for kids. I would have loved this when I was 10 or 11. I think it's a bit over the head of my six-year-old son. But it's a great, fun resource. She has good object lessons and games for teaching some more grown-up concepts.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have read everything this author has wrote and I will admit I am not the most classy or cultured woman out there. However, she helps me learn manners and culture that I need even in this book it is not only great for kids but also for me. I highly recommend it.

I implemented this gem into my children's home school Summer supplement! We had so much fun together! My husband joined in as well so we can be on the same page of teaching manners and such. I highly recommend this book!

This book is going to become one of our manuals for the grace and courtesy lessons! I enjoyed it a lot! There are so many good explanations and ideas for activities! It is a book appropriate for the +7-year-olds, but the younger children can also benefit from it. I can't think of a topic regarding children's manners not touched by this book. There's even a chapter on healthy living!

I am such a fan of Jennifer L. Scott. I watch her videos and have read three of her books. This book is filled with ideas for raising children who are well-mannered and confident. I plan to use this book with my son when he is a little older. My generation was taught most of the skills that Jennifer describes, but it does seem like manners have become neglected in our society lately. This book is practical; it even includes games and tactile ways to teach the skills. Jennifer applies her skills as both a homeschool teacher and a lifestyle expert. I say, "Amen, sister!" She is a much-needed voice of reason.

I just reviewed Connoisseur Kids by Jennifer L. Scott. #ConnoisseurKids #NetGalley

I like this book, that explained clearly to both adults and kids on how to behave in society. Not being a snob, of course, but it explained the big rules of how to play nice so people can accept you better.

Love this book. Thanks to Chronicle and Net Galley for the ARC. This book is a basic etiquette book, covering topics from manners to hygiene. All the topics are explained in age-appropriate language that is entertaining to read. There are cute illustrations and tidbits about various subjects and famous people that have played a role in the development of etiquette through the years. Like a book for adults, this book contains information, recipes, tips, sample ideas, and more. I recommend this book for all families and it would be a good resource for classrooms, scouting, or other children's groups. This book is a great interactive book in that family or group members would read it together and use it to prompt conversations.

It is a great book, fabulous in its simplicity and rich on joyful exercises and activities to practice good behaviours. The biggest advantages of the book are the creative approach to boring topics and the fact that it can be read by both parents and children. It is a practical guide without unnecessary theory which guaranteed your family productive parents-children time. Moreover, the book fits even for 3 years old children. However, all reading here is solely parents’ task. In this case, storytelling and discussion based on book’s topics are better.

Jennifer L. Scott was a new for me author, but I surely will be reading her other books.

A delightful book on manners! I appreciate the emphasis on properly communicating emotions, body language, and vocabulary! Truly teaches kids (and to be honest, adults) the importance of manners and how to go about building relationships with others. The fun crafts for thank you cards and the games are an added bonus!

Highly recommend

This is a great little introduction to etiquette for families and younger readers! It has a number of fun activities to help make manners and social rules stick. To note, certain activities such as those involving eye contact might need to be adapted slightly or skipped over by parents of special needs kiddos, but most are very friendly even without adaptation. Everything is very well-explained and even adults might learn a bit about different social norms and the reasons for them from this book.

Thank you so much for this delightful educational children’s book! It is comprehensive, fun, easy to understand and ideal to share with one’s kids, and to start valuable discussions with them. I particularly love all the exercises and activities which help understand and apply the sound advice!
A must-read for parents and children, grand parents and teachers!

Good book to help kids with manners and etiquette. With information, exercises and at times recipes it help parents and child to better behaviours - eye contact, posture, sharing and other topics. Quick - from one thing to the next, talks of topic and exercise or activity then goes on.

I love Paris and recently stumbled upon the author’s first book, Lessons from Madame Chic, an entrancing account of her time in the City of Light as a foreign exchange student. She self-published that very successful memoir and has gone on to develop a cottage industry of sorts with her subsequent books and online presence, a feat I hope to duplicate as I write my first memoir.

I also love the colorfully chic illustrations that characterize her covers, and that’s what drew me to her latest, CONNOISSEUR KIDS.

It’s an urbane guide to raising well-behaved children and one I’d love to give to every parent in the restaurant attached to our fave Starbucks. Each night, toddlers are let loose to run free in the connecting public space, yelling and doing gymnastics on nearby chairs and tables. When asked politely to mind their progeny, parents look aghast, as if one is asking them to effect world peace. All we really want is peace in our little realm as we quietly talk and sip our lattes. Is that too much to ask?

Not if Jennifer is successful with her latest foray into cosmopolitan good manners. I for one pray she succeeds, and will be singing her praises and that of this charming work. God bless you, Ms. Scott! 5/5

An excellent resource to introduce younger children to how they should conduct themselves. Etiquette, self-confidence, and gratitude are all important to a child’s wellbeing. This book is a great tool to use for discussions between parents and children, and has some fun games to play too!
