I had a Dachshund growing up and have a Wire Haired Dachshund that I pet-sit for, aptly named Sweetie. I'm not sure what I expected from this book but I think something with more pictures? I would love to see it in a format more in line with what a first grader could read. A picture per page and a sentence or two. It has such potential but feels undone to me.

Süßes kleines Buch mit viel Herz, Wärme und schönen Fotos - nicht nur für (Dachs-)Hundefreunde.
Erzählt aus der Sicht des Hundes - schöne Idee, eignet sich auch gut als Geschenk.

This was a book that I found on Netgalley that attracted me due to the pictures on the cover and of course the title. As such when I was reviewing the summary I found that the book was suppose to be considered a picture book although in looking over it is more a book with illustrations.

This book first of all has one of the longest dedications that I have ever seen. Although it is sweet it is a bit of a fair warning for what is to come in the telling of the story.

The story is sweet and charming while told from a doxie point-of-view while the author did a great job in showing off the spunk of the breed. But at the same time she made Annalisa sound quite like a snob and although doxies are known for their takeover charge it made me think that with encouragement Annalisa is a bona fide bully in her house.

Another thing that agitated me with the story is that the telling is all over the place. Instead of having a story that explores one concept then moves on you get bits and pieces that are told just randomly then flits back. As a result you find out the picking up of Annalisa from the breeders in the middle of the story while vacuum wars is covered twice. And just randomly Ute goes into prose for one reason or another, which itself is randomly tucked right into the story.

I was disappointed in a sense that this wasn't a picture book but there were definitely at least colored photos added in. These were mostly just individual photos that like the story didn't really capture country life for me as a reader but they were sweet just the same although it may have been nice to have an idea who the subjects were.

And finally there is some more need of editing just to refine the book. Maybe a change of title to something like "Annalisa Tells Her Story: My Life At A Country Kennel" would have given me a chance to know that the basis for the story although it does take place in a country is more located at kennel. But the problems that I had with the writing of the book was there was one page that had some grammatical errors and a spelling mistake while the sentence above the pictures of the cats didn't quite make sense to me even when I re-read it.

All in all though it was a cute book and the writing quite simple. For children who love dogs this would be a definite book to attract their attention, especially when they can check out all the animals that Annalisa lives with.

**Please note I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review**

It is one of the sweetest books I've ever read. If dogs could talk they would talk our ears off. It will be a book I will share with my nieces and nephews.

Annalisa is a long haired chihuahua that was adopted by a loving family. She felt bad about leaving her family but she finds an even bigger family on the farm.

BooksGoSocial and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and you can grab a copy now.

There are photographs of all the animals on the farm. From cats, dogs, goats and more there are plenty of animals to play with. She doesn't have time to be bored.

This is a pleasant picture book . It's about the life of a dog and the pictures are a pleasure to look at. Annalise got a good deal when this family took her home!

I loved this and can't wait to read it with my 4 year old daughter, who I know will get a kick out of the book being told by a dog. Plus, we have lots of animals and can really relate! Haha.

I also loved the pictures so much and the story was sweet and easy to read, which makes it a great choice for younger readers.

This is a sweet picture filled little book told in the voice of the dog, Anna or Annalisa. She tells how she was adopted by her mom and tells how cool her new life is in the country. Anna gives examples of things she loves about her new home, and shares about her best friends and some of the animals she doesn’t like as well. It’s really cute the way it gives voice to the dog and seems to be the way they think sometimes, just from the way they act and that makes it funny too.

So if you’re ready for a fun and silly quick read with animal pictures, this may be the book for you. It certainly made me smile and fall for many of the critters I met in the story. An advance electronic review copy was provided by NetGalley, author Ute Endler Anderson, and the publisher.

I received an electronic copy from BooksGoSocial through NetGalley.
The entire story is told from the dog's viewpoint. Annalisa shares about her life from adoption to two years old. She describes her relationships with the other animals and her "mom."
Real photographs allow readers to see the characters and feel like they're on the farm with them. Anderson presents a realistic picture of what the dog thinks about life.
Fun to share with a class to talk about literary devices.
