This was okay. I think an indie author could have wrote it better.
It felt very surface level and I just could not get connected.

Sam and Tate meet during a trip to London and quickly fall in love. Then he disappears, and she finds her identity has been revealed to the press. Fast forward 14 years. Tate turned that reveal into a very successful acting career, and she's landed a huge movie role as the lead with her famous father in a supporting role. And on the first night on set, she sees Sam again. Even with the strength of their feelings, neither tried to contact the other. Then they have to figure out how to work together on set.
It was a good story, most of the time spent either in London or on the movie set. I had trouble with some of the actions/reactions of some of the characters to certain situations.

This book gave me all the feels. I loved every second of it and constantly found myself torn between wanting to read more and not wanting it to end.

I loved this book! Thank you for the ARC. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t leaving reviews on netgalley and was solely sharing on Instagram. My apologies. Huge fan of this author! I actually received the tangible copy. Trying to clean up my netgally account

I'm going to be honest, I usually love Christina Lauren books, but I found this one didn't grab me right from the start as most of their books do! I only made it about 100 pages and I have to give up :(
However, I did buy a copy and plan to give it another try one day!

I'm big fan of this writing duo. Second chance romances are a favorite of mine. This was a great read, I enjoyed it a lot!

Twice in a Blue Moon is the story of Sam and Tate, who met abroad as young adults and fell in love during the course of a two-week vacation. When Tate finds out that her biggest secret, which if revealed publicly would alter her life completely (and which she shared with Sam) has been spilled, she returns home heartbroken and convinced that Sam betrayed her. Flash forward to 14 years later: Tate is an up-and-coming actress on a new movie, when she runs into Sam - who she has not seen since those whirlwind two weeks abroad - on set.

I loved reading about how Sam and Tate met and fell in love during their vacation abroad with their families - the authors captured the overwhelming, all-consuming emotions of young love in such a fun way. Although I enjoyed the actors-on-a-secluded-movie-set setting for the "present" part of the story, the book otherwise fell a little flat for me and didn't have much of the laugh-out-loud witty banter that I love about Christina Lauren novels. I felt like the romance storyline got lost between the family and career issues the main character was also dealing with - which, to be fair, is indicative of real life where all of these parts of our lives are intertwined, but it took away from the fun, lighthearted feel of books like The Unhoneymooners or Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable, quick read, and I would recommend it to fans of Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker.

I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of Christina Lauren, and seeking out everything they've read. I was looking forward to reading this one, and it did not disappoint! Filled with secrets, love, broken trust, and a touch of heart ache... this book is sure to pull you in. I devoured it in one sitting, and enjoyed it from start to finish.

A huge thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I greatly appreciate it!

I wish I had loved this one more!! I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of this novel but felt completely disconnected from the second half which made it go from a 4 star read to a 3 star for me.

I really enjoyed the first half of Twice in a Blue Moon where we get to see Sam and Tate falling for each other as teenagers but the second half with them as adults, unfortunately, fell flat for me and I wasn't able to connect with their characters. I think this book had a lot of potential but unfortunately, the last half felt too rushed for me!

Omg I just loved the story line of this book. Who hasn’t wondered what would be if your first love came back in the picture! Excellent book!

Thank you to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for my free review copy. This is my second book by these authors and I loved it. Tate has lived a very sheltered life in her small town with her mother and grandmother. To celebrate her 18th birthday she goes to London with her grandmother. This is the first big trip for her. Another man and his grandson befriend them at their hotel and they begin each day having breakfast together and then sightseeing together. Sam is 21 and has lived a life with his grandparents that has has been with fewer boundaries than Tate’s. Sam and Tate connect and fall in love. Tate feels so comfortable with Sam that she tells him a big secret about her. Sam sells her out to the tabloids and Tate’s life is never the same. She goes on to be a famous actress and between hating Sam she also still loves him. They have had no contact since that fateful time in London. Imagine Tate’s shock when he is the screenwriter for her next movie. At first she is horrified but as they reconnect truths come out about why Sam sold her out and what has happened in his life in the ensuing years. This was a great story and I loved it. I also loved the secondary characters that are important in Tate’s life. Can Sam and Tate recapture what they had all those years ago? Is it even possible to move past the hurt Sam caused Tate? This book kept me reading long into the night to find out the answers to these questions.

The last book I read by Lauren was amazing. This book was just too far fetched. I couldn’t get into it at all. I got about 25% in and I jsut had to give up. Sorry Christina Lauren!!! I will try again with your next one, but this one wasn’t my cup of tea.

2 Stars

I have heard nothing but bad reviews of this book and from reading the first couple chapters I get the feeling that I am not going to enjoy this book. I couldn’t really get into the main female protagonist and we barely just met the male lead Sam,. I just no longer wish to continue with books that just give me “not going to be good” feels

I loved that they tried a new story line and the book started off with so much promise and then the main character sort of became awful. It felt like the story was rushed and so was the ending. This book left me feeling slightly disappointed.

I think a few blue moons have passed since I read Christina Lauren's novel Twice in a Blue Moon. I read it back in October, just before it was published, and have even read (and reviewed!) their latest novel, The Honey-Don't List, since then. Somehow, I just missed talking about this novel that I devoured in one day.

Here's the synopsis:
Sam Brandis was Tate Jones’s first: Her first love. Her first everything. Including her first heartbreak.
During a whirlwind two-week vacation abroad, Sam and Tate fell for each other in only the way that first loves do: sharing all of their hopes, dreams, and deepest secrets along the way. Sam was the first, and only, person that Tate—the long-lost daughter of one of the world’s biggest film stars—ever revealed her identity to. So when it became clear her trust was misplaced, her world shattered for good.
Fourteen years later, Tate, now an up-and-coming actress, only thinks about her first love every once in a blue moon. When she steps onto the set of her first big break, he’s the last person she expects to see. Yet here Sam is, the same charming, confident man she knew, but even more alluring than she remembered. Forced to confront the man who betrayed her, Tate must ask herself if it’s possible to do the wrong thing for the right reason… and whether “once in a lifetime” can come around twice.
Now, a lot of people have said they didn't enjoy this one. There are various reasons, as there always are, but I really liked it. Maybe it was simply because I needed this kind of story at the time I was reading it.

One reason it could have appealed to me more is because I love a good second chance story. It's one of my favourite tropes and I enjoyed that this novel had the second chance happening way out in the middle of nowhere so they were kind of trapped with each other (but not totally alone, given they were on a film set).

I don't think I necessarily fell for the characters as hard as they fell for each other. Neither Tate nor Sam particularly stood out to me, especially when they were adults. I may have enjoyed their teenage love a bit more than their adult one. Perhaps because they were both so much...harder by the time they met again. I think I also just couldn't quite get over what Sam did to Tate.

I could, however, see that they still cared a lot for each other. There was a lot of hurt to get over on Tate's side but she was stubborn and didn't want to hear Sam's side of the story. Plus, she's a big star now and it was hard for her to look past that and focus on the movie they were making. Through all of that the reader can tell they belong together if they could just have an honest conversation about how scared they are and how much the other means to them.

While Twice in a Blue Moon won't stick with me forever, it was a delightful read. I'm still a big fan of Christina Lauren and am already looking forward to their next book.

It was an entertaining, fun, and quick read, but I found that I wasn't always invested with the storyline or the characters.

I enjoyed the story line of this book, but I didn't find that there was a lot of time spent allowing the readers to make a connection with the characters. When all was said and done, I couldn't honestly tell you what sort of person Tate ended up being, and I believe that did effect the way I connected with and felt about the story over all.
I felt like the "love story" aspect of the story was rushed and had little to no depth. It just didn't give me the warm and fuzzies, or the hot and steamies. It just wasn't quite to the level I'm used to from the authors previous work.
Overall, the story was a pretty quick one, and had a decent flow, but it didn't catch my attention the way I would have liked. A good book, but not my favourite from the Christina Lauren collection.

Twice in a Blue Moon is my first book by Christina Lauren and I must say that I'm a bit disappointed. The writing is good but the storyline just wasn't really for me, I guess. I didn't really like the main character, Tate, but Sam I did. I will give them another chance for sure though. Thank you NetGalley for the free ebook.

I have enjoyed the two previous rom-coms by these authors and was looking forward to another. Well, this one was a romance, but there was not much comedy. This was a second chance romance that had many ups and downs along the way. Sam and Tate meet in England when he is 21 and she is 18. They fall quickly in love, and Tate loses her virginity to Sam. They plan on continuing their relationship when they return to the US. What Tate does not expect is to be blindsided by reporters when Sam shares personal information that she told him in confidence. Fast forward 14 years when the come face to face again. What do they feel toward one another? Can Tate forgive Sam?

I enjoyed this story, but not as much as the previous books I had read. The characters were strong and developed and the dialogue was well written. I liked the tension between Sam and Tate when they met again. There were several ups and downs with some angst as they became reacquainted and tried to get to know each other again. There were some villains in this story, most notably Tate's father who was a selfish, spoiled man who didn't care who he hurt along the way. There was a bit of a YA feel to this novel, but that was mostly at the beginning. This is a story of forgiveness, finding yourself, reaching for your dreams and second chances. It was a good story, just not what I was expecting.
