Wow! Just Wow! This was a book that I simply could not put down. Every layer revealed more and more depth of character. Didn't realize it was book one so beware of the cliffhanger! Definitely will be watching for book #2. So well written and characters that are flawed, but can't wait to see what they will do next. A must read!! First time I have read this author by absolutely will not be the last!

Powerplay ⭐️

I really need to pay closer attention to the arcs I’m requesting. Sometimes I see a great author and ask for the book by default. In this case, I’m a bit sorry I did it, just because the story isn’t that appealing to me.

The heroine is this Madam, owner of an escort service company by day, waitress by night and also fighting for her niece’s custody.
The hero is a ruthless divorce attorney by day and client of Wicked Ways - the escort company by night.

Due to an unfortunate event between one of the working girls and a Senator, the Madam is forced by a contract to “entertain” our hero. That’s how it all starts.

Now here’s the thing. The relationship between them is one big power powerplay. They’re blackmailing each other, keep things from each other, he pays for her company and so on. I didn’t find one thing to like about all this. None. I didn’t totally dislike the characters, but the story itself left me with a meh feeling. And the cherry on top:

I’m not even a little bit curious about what’s next. 😔

I have been a huge fan of K. Bromberg since Driven and love that whatever genre she writes in, her passion and dedication to her characters is always evident. We see what's in their hearts and feel the emotional connection between her characters. Vaughn and Ryker was one of these couples. I enjoyed their banter and physical chemistry and the twists and turns of the story!

I enjoyed Resist and the spirited relationship between Vaughn and Ryker. Vaughn had sass and was so determined to stay strong and look in control. Ryker had a similar personality which left me feeling frustrated at times. This story felt like two alphas going head to head who were so worried about looking strong that they failed to see what was in front of their faces the entire time.

All in all this wasn't my favorite read by this author but I am invested and I can't wait for book two! I would like to thank Netgalley and the Publisher for an advanced copy of this book

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was an emotionally charged romance novel. Both heroes were incredibly stubborn and unwilling to give up power to the other to the point where he calls her, she ignores it and then calls him right back to show she's in control. While the sexual tension was incredible and I felt incredible satisfaction watching him burn for her , I was turned off by the constant back and forth. Not too mention he tears everything he builds with her at the end which ends in a CLIFFHANGER!! Wow. Disappointing.

Ryker and Vee... I'll say this first, I know that any critic has to rely on the person actually doing the work to have something to criticize. I usually fall headlong into one of K. Bromberg's books and suffer a book hangover for a time after, in a good way.

Resist, has all of the elements. It's a little flirty. It's a little tense. It's a little gritty. It's a little dirty. It's a little angsty, even. The flirting between Ryker and Vaughn had me turning the page to see who would give in, if anyone. When I'm sold on the flirt, I feel as if I'm the one being flirted with while reading, no matter the character. It didn't happen here. I felt like the cousin on the patio your mom made you invite to the party; a tad uncomfortable, a bit sad. The tension between every character had me wanting to offer them advice to relieve it, but not much advice. Instead I felt like I was standing in a corner filing my nails, looked up every once in a while thinking, "Huh, that revelation is going to suck." As for dirty... well.. again, for me, the steam didn't quite make it out of the kitchen. The grit from Vaughn's shear will, and determination, and Ryker's alpha personality didn't quite make me believe either of them. The angst fell somewhere along the way. Does all this mean I won't read the next installment, nope. I'll read it, hopeful that K. will bring more the "just a little" of the flirty pursuit, tension, grit, dirt, and angst so I have all the feels next time, like I've had with her other books.
