Compelling book from beginning to end. The story is about Drew who has to escape her husband taking their baby with her and start a new life where he can never find her. She moves around the country always infear that is she stays out too long they will be found. She is haunted by vague conflicting memories of what happend that night, did she kill someone will she go to prison if they are found. When she eventually meets someone she has to stop running and try and find out what really happend. But at what cost to her and her son.
I loved this book and am hoping for another book to follow on from this one.

I usually never read books like this let me start off by saying but I did enjoy this one. drew ran away from her abusive husband with her son Michael and she has to prove what kind of monster her ex really is. This book was a quick read hard to put down it is a little graphic with the abuse part so if you can’t read books like that for the triggers then it’s not for you but she did what she had to do to protect her son and I am here for that she just wants to give her son a normal life

Drew ran away from her abusive husband, Adam, with their son, Michael. This, when Michael was merely a baby. Running is not fun - not when you have to move essentially once a year -for 9 years. Drew cannot let Adam know where she is - it could likely cause her to be up for murder charges, in addition to abduction. In Liberty, Missouri, Drew thinks she can possibly be settled but she can never let her guard down. Also, Michael is getting older and is becoming attached to his new friends there. Drew has a lot of support and affection from townspeople in Liberty but is afraid to tell them any of the truths from back in Seattle with Adam.

Catherine, Michael's nanny, is in a similar situation. What is Adam doing? He is a ruthless multibillionaire and his narcissistic and abusive ways have taken over his life and that of those around him.

A very twisty, poignant read about differing types of abuse and how the victim feels/reacts. There are a number of surprises in store for the reader. A great read that hasn't a single dull moment from cover to cover !

Many Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this story.

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

I loved this one. Very fast paced, had me turning pages as I tore through it – I had to see how it would end. The characters were well rounded and the narrative felt believable. Gave me chills. Solid five

While I loved this book and literally couldn't put it down, I can't recommend it for my students because of its highly disturbing graphic descriptions of abuse. However, it is definitely a five star read for individuals who love a suspense thriller mystery. Extremely well written and deeply engrossing. Highly unusual plot, Stretches the bounds of imagination, but in a gripping way,

Drew Baker left her abusive husband for the sake of her son, Drew. Now after nine years on the run, Drew wants to put the past behind her, to settle down and create a normal life for her now 10 year old son. But to do that, she will need proof of what what kind of a monster her ex is. The problem is, exposing her husband, may also mean exposing herself and her own crimes. Crimes that may tear her son away from her for good. Drew is a heroine who has been beaten, but now bowed, and readers will be cheering for her to uncover the truth that will ultimately save herself and her son
