I really like how this was done, but think the title needs a Flip. Maybe Freddie and the Worry Bug or Freddie Flips. The becoming unstuck, it's in there, but it’s not the main idea. The idea of this book is to teach kids who to shoo the worry bug away. Plus it gives lots of examples in a story that makes sense and is fun to read.

Betsy the Beetle is a what if worrier. Though Murry, her worry bug, is notorious for causing trouble, I tend to think Murry is wanting to be helpful and not naughty. Perhaps Murry thinks he’s helping Betsy by trying to prepare her for upcoming problems. Maybe he thinks Betsy can’t handle certain situations.

The book offers a method of assuring Murry that Betsy is quite capable of handling all situations. She can thank him, then practice the FLIP method which is explained in the book.

What Concerned Me:
This is a very small concern, but the text is sometimes black, red, pink, blue, etc. I don’t think it necessarily helped the story.

What I Liked Most:
This has colorful illustrations and offers a very good, simple method of trying to help children who are worriers. The FLIP method could easily be reinforced by making a simple bracelet or fun keychain with letters, etc. to help remind children of this simple idea.

I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun book. I think it portrays a positive message to kids about getting over stress and anxiety. The characters are fun, and even though they are insects, they are relatable.

The only thing I didn't care for was the different colored text. It was a bit distracting at time. With the colorful pictures, it was not necessary for all of those extra colors.

I loved everything about this book! It is an adorable children's book that opens the discussion about anxiety and worries for children. The reader follows along with a character that has a worry bug causing them stress. The character learns that all people (children & adults alike) experience this emotion at some point, and the character then learns coping mechanisms to overcome their worry. I loved the additional discussion points and activities for adults to do with their children that was provided at the end of the book. You could also easily create a craft project with your little one to make their own "FLIP" keychain or bracelet. I thought the book did an excellent job covering this topic in a bright and fun way. The illustrations were brightly colored and beautiful. This will be one that I will recommend to several of my momma friends!
