An engaging and fun read, with protagonists and a cast of characters just right for the setting.
The relationship drama, the conflicts, and traumas fulfilled me as a reader and drew me into the lives of the characters with believable incidents, hot and steamy sex scenes, and secondary characters we want to see in their own books as other novels in a series.

A fun quick read. I particularly loved all the references to southern food. Transported me to the south!

This is a great romance book with very memorable characters and a rich southern setting with a little mystery added in! Books like this are easy to read and just make you feel good by the end.

This book was a great quick read. The romance was spicy and I loved he mystery of finding Rob's Uncles hidden treasure, he hid during prohibition. The story line was the typical successful high powered woman has to go home and get a family business running smoothly so she can go back to her life but meets a hot guy that changes her mind. If your looking for a great read that is quick and fun, then I would give this book a try

This was a pretty good romance. Dr. Rob comes to Wendy's bed and breakfast looking for a mysterious treasure linked with Wendy's family. They are sexually attracted to each other and the sexual tension between them is hot. Wendy is wary of giving into their attraction for fear she would catch feelings for a man who is only there temporarily. While Rob hides secrets of his own he doesn't count on falling in love with Wendy's resilient spirit. Loved the chemistry between them and the hidden mystery of the place.

Another book that was okay, characters who were reasonably agreeable, but not really enough plot to carry the day. The big mystery was pretty much readily apparent to anyone paying attention from almost the very beginning. A real slow, not unpleasant, but also not terribly exciting read.

This was a sweet, quick read that had a treasure hunting plot. I liked Rob and Wendy together, and I liked many of the cast of characters surrounding them. I would recommend for someone who’s looking for a light read.

Was not the biggest fan of this book. I didn't really connect with the Main characters or with the general plot.

A fun story that has Wendy Marsh taking time out of her career as a hotel executive to come home to the place she was raised and teach her cousin the ins and outs of the business. Inheriting the family business along with her cousin. Fountenoy Hall has been in the family for generations. Now their grandmother who passed has given it to the younger generation. Not really wanting to be there, she is thrown into the mix from the start with a function going on and also having two guests arrive that she was not expecting. Rob Upshaw or Doctor Upshaw a Doctor of history. With his brother have in search of the long lost treasure of their family which is supposed to have been left here when he was a revenuer during the prohibition era. With Rob and his brother searching old records saying they are researching for a client, Wendy does not mind helping. After a time the two of them have grown to like each other but still no treasure. Also, Wendy needs to make a decision about staying or going back to her old job. Her friends from College come in to be with her and the cousin for they knew the grandmother and this adds to the characters of the story. All falls apart though when after Rob tells Wendy he is in love with her and then it comes to light the real reason he is there. Leaving it is weeks later at home that he discovers where the treasure is. Will Wendy at least talk to him? Read this wonderful story to find out. Yes, there is also moonshine. I liked all of the characters really added to the story.

First book in a new series. To be perfectly honest the storyline just lost me several times a long the way. So many side characters that were more of a distraction than an addition to the story. Also, the whole treasure hunt thing took away from my enjoyment as well. I did finish the book, but found myself skimming some pages to get through.

I thank the publisher for the advance reader copy via NetGalley.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was cute and an easy read. While I really enjoyed Rob as a character I think he might have been slightly overdone, compared to to Wendy. That being said I did like the romance and that they were cute together.

This is a surprisingly long read for a contemporary romance, and I think the story actually would have been better served by having some of the extraneous and absurd subplots trimmed or removed completely. This is a potentially good book that is in serious need of a developmental reader (or a stern beta reader team!). There was just too much going on, and some of it strained credulity. It is hard to believe that Rob, who is a serious historian, would give much credit to the idea of a family curse and work so hard to get it lifted. Romances, of course, have to have the “boy loses girl” moment, but elements of that felt contrived. I enjoyed the couple at the heart of the romance, Wendy and Rob, but felt that they were overshadowed by all the crazy going on. Still, the author did a good job of setting time and place. The whole book definitely has a very southern vibe about it, which not all books that take place in the American South do!

This book has a lot going on. The writing is good with a lot of detail. The characters are well crafted and are very involved. Wendy is likable as is Rob (Dr. Upshaw). I did find myself getting lost in the details here and there. But overall a good story.

Looking for a fun, light contemporary romance, filled with southern hospitality, complicated family dynamics, a touch of mystery, and a sweet romance to add to your summer reading list? Abigail Sharpe's Moonshine and Magnolias could be just what you're looking for.

As this is the first book in Sharpe's Just Add Peaches series, there's an extended cast of characters to be introduced and I enjoyed getting to know all of them. Granted, I found a few of them annoying (not the hero and heroine) but isn't it the flaws that keep things interesting? The author is adept at bringing her characters to life and I'm looking forward to discovering more about several of them in future books.

Sharpe also excels at bringing the peaches for which her series is named to life on the pages of her book. I found myself drooling over several passages that feature delicious-sounding dishes conjured up in the kitchen of the family inn. They've made me more eager than ever for peach season to hit its peak where I live.

One of the facets I most enjoyed about Moonshine and Magnolias is the author's ability to "set the scene." Through her words, she pulled me into her world and the lives of her characters. I could smell the sweet aroma of fresh peaches in the orchard, share the hopes, dreams, fears, and frustrations of characters, lose myself in the rich history of the inn, and feel the strong, loving legacy of the generations of women in Wendy's family who had come before.

I'm looking forward to returning to Fountenoy Hall for book two, Cupcake of the Month and excited that I only have to wait another month for it to be released!

Wendy took leave from her job to attend to the inn that her grandmother left her and her cousin. She is under pressure to get back to work and pressure to keep the family business going well. Dr. Rob Upshaw is a historian staying at the inn to research and solve the mystery surrounding his family curse- to not have successful relationships. The characters are interesting and readers will want Rob and Wendy to be together. There is humor, romance and mystery!!!

Moonshine and Magnolias!

This novel is Book 1 in Abigail Sharpe’s new series Just Add Peaches. This is the story of Wendy, a hotel exec who is a descendant of a family of moonshiners. And this is the story of Rob, who is a historian, and a descendant of a federal agent. Rob is drawn to Wendy’s family property by a diary from the federal agent that says there may be treasure buried on Wendy’s property. Wendy has inherited half of the family’s Inn with her cousin Brandi. Now she has to drop her life, travel to the family Inn and teach Brandi everything so she can run the Inn. Rob is staying at the Inn, trying to find out everything he can about the treasure without revealing his intentions.

This was a fun book filled with love and mystery. A perfect blend that will entertain the reader.

First book in a new series. While I did like it enough to finish and find out the ending, I did struggle at times to keep my interest. Easy at times to skim, as there are a lot of side characters that distracted me more than added for me. Rob is there at the B&B to find out about a historical mystery in his family. Wendy is in charge of the place, after the death of her grandmother, although all she wants is to leave. That is another issue I find irritating. So many follow this formula of the main character eager to leave, before finding out they have everything they need right there at home. Rob is lying too, which is another issue, plus really didn't like Wendy's cousin Brandi. Don't mean to be so negative, as there was still a good story, just not a favorite. Would still recommend.

Wendy has plans to cement her hotel career and is so close to her dream role when her Grandma dies so she is back Fountenoy Hall trying to run it with her cousin Brandi who is never around. Dr. Rob Upshaw and his brother Hal are on the hunt for lost treasure and brings them to Fountenoy Hall and this leads both Wendy and Rob to try and dance around their attraction, see what life could be like with someone to love and be happy with ...but you also need trust and honesty. You will get sucked into this warm hearted book that leads you on an rocky road with sadness and laughter and all things in between as we see not just Wendy but also Rob and others finding themselves, allowing others in and realising what you really want and need in life. The characters are great and you will fall in love with them even the coffee slurping Hal! you will also feel like you really are in Fountenoy Hall and wanting to try their peaches! This was a great read and I just loved the ending and can not wait for the next book in the series!!!

Moonshine and Magnolias by Abigail Sharpe is the first book in the Just Add Peaches series. It was a bit of a historical romance in a contemporary setting. A heartfelt story that takes place in a small town in Georgia at the family’s Inn. There were humorous situations, family dynamics, drama, life decisions, secrets, and a bit of mystery. I liked how the author interwove the peaches aspect into the story and created humorous peach antics. The main characters in the story are Wendy and Rob. Wendy’s grandmother passed away and left a magnificent family Inn to Wendy and her cousin. Wendy is having issues with her current career and the managing of the family Inn. Rob is a historical researcher currently working on his family’s origin of a curse and possible treasure. His research revolves around the Inn. These two have a strong attraction but Wendy is afraid to get involved. Rob discovers Wendy’s true personality that she rarely lets out, and helps her lower her walls and embrace her inner self.

The reason I did not give this book a higher rating was that I thought the story had too many secondary characters, sideline stories/events, as well as historical information. These could have been reduced and even eliminated without causing issues with the story. The reading pace was slowed down with too many details and made it cumbersome at times. The pace picked up in the second half of the book and it flowed easier.

I did enjoy the story overall and look forward to reading the other books in the Just Add Peaches series to see how the other characters’ stories develop. I am familiar with Abigail Sharpe’s writing and I look forward to her future books.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
