What an inspirational book and good role model for children. It is a wonderful story of a young girl who believed in her self so much she achieved her goals and then gave back to less fortunate. I have always been a fan of Dolly Parton's music and found out new things about her. I really like theses series of books as they are short and sweet but filled with alot of information. I also like the added timeline in the back of the book. The illustrations are cute especially like the one of her barefoot on porch singing and playing to the farm animals. This would be a great storytime book.

Like other books in this series, it is a fun little introduction to inspiring people. Definitely a great way to introduce kids to biographies and a nice read for adults too. I would recommend all the books in this series.

I love this series. Dolly Parton is one of the most perfect subjects for this series. Great pictures, great message. Would recommend for any little Dolly fans (which, let's face it, should be everyone).

This Little People, Big World series is outstanding! The books are short, sweet, and beautifully illustrated. They are colorful, and exciting and they make learning fun for young children. I love that they're covering all sorts of celebrities, and famous influential people. Musicians, artists, writers, scientists, and more.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I truly appreciate it!

Falls a bit flat given the subject, especially the illustration. But I still love this little book series and look forward to more.

Well I already loved Dolly Parton but this book really does a great job of giving a short version of her life story. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital review copy.

Loved learning more about Dolly Parton, so this book was a big hit with me! Had absolutely no idea she met her husband as soon as she moved to Nashville, and I'm a sucker for a love story so that was a really cute fact to learn. My little girl was a huge fan of the tiny butterflies hidden on each page - her father and I were asking her to point them out as we were reading it to her and by the end of the book she was finding the butterflies quicker than we could! A brilliant addition that allows this book to appeal to little ones who have no idea who Dolly Parton is, and bigger ones who want to learn more about a country icon.

The ‘My First Little People, Big Dreams’ series provides informative and inspirational biographies about people who left a mark on this earth, no matter what difficulties they have encountered.
These stories are very short, but that’s because they’re books for children, so it’s totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
This one is about Dolly Parton, an American country singer. I didn't know much about her life and career, so I was glad to discover more. And I loved her library project for children in need.

Dolly Parton by Isabella Sanchez Vegara is part of the Little People, Big Dreams series that looks at famous people and how they made a difference in the world. We follow young Dolly who came from a big family. Her interest in music was cultivated early. She went on to become one of the most well-known country music singers, as well as a consummate businesswoman. Today, Dolly is known for her theme park of Dollywood, and for her charity work. The end of the book has a more detailed timeline of her life, written more for older readers. I read this with my cubs. We love this series! Highly recommended!

***Many thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I absolutely love this series. This one about Dolly Parton was a bit too simple and not as entertaining, but the art was really fun.

This concise biography introduces children to one of country music’s biggest stars. The story is written in a style that is enjoyable as well as easy to read and understand. It would make an excellent gift also.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book that was provided by the publisher through Net Galley. However, the thoughts and opinions presented here are my own.

Dolly Parton is an often overlooked musical genius. College students are discovering her work now, and blasting Jolene through dormitory quads. I just saw an invitation to a Sweet 16 birthday, which included a viewing of 9 to 5.

This series is well written, and well illustrated. It belongs in the category of narrative biography, as it tells a story instead of reciting facts. This genre engages students, and are an important component of any biography research project.

I love the current trend of picture book biographies and this is one of my favorites. The story is highly engaging and well-written. The illustration style matches both the book and Dolly Parton’s personality. A great addition to any library!

I know some of her songs (You Are, I will Always Love You, Jolene) but know nothing about her life. This simple biography book give me many new things about her. It is nice to find out how generous she is.

I think I am going to check another songs of hers since I am still not familiar with many of them

This is another great title in this series. This time we look at the legend Dolly Parton. This is just a flash of her life. At times I find it overly simple. It focuses on her music career and starting the Imagination Library, but mentions nothing about acting. Overall I think it’s a great introduction, I just with there was more of it.

Another great title from the Little People Big Dreams series. Spanning the whole of Dolly Parton's life from her through her start in the music business and the development of her imagination library, her story is told in child-friendly language and with bright pictures. I would definitely consider using this book as part of music lessons or a display on inspirational women.

So, it's really difficult to me to rate picture books because the illustrations were cute(some of them unrealistic but still cute), but there was almost no story. I don't know much about Dolly Parton's life, but reading this I imagine that she had no obstacles to fulfill her dreams, she did everything she wanted and her life was pure joy. I mean, everyone has gone through many things in their lives, so it's difficult to me to believe that she had it that easy. And it was weird to me that she didn't grew up in a wealthy family, but she had many things: a horse, fancy clothes and a huge ranch.
Finally, I wanted to see more of her entrepreneurial side with the Dollywood theme park, her charity side with the Imagination Library and how she fights for LGBT rights(I know that children books are "never" going to include something like this but..it's part of her life too). I think this book doesn't really talk about all the work Dolly has done.
