I liked the illustrations in this book. Very subdued but colorful. The story was cute too.

I adore the variety of animals in You Are Home with Me. Sarah Asper-Smith has chosen some wonderful animals to introduce to children. From the tufted puffin, moose, flying squirrel and hoary marmot to (more widely known animals) like the lynx, grey wolf, and Arctic fox. There is an unusual animal out there for every child to love and this book might help them choose! (side note: I don't know how children today got so obsessed with llamas but it amuses me greatly, figure out what the next big animal for kids will be and you could be very rich if you market a toy right, lol)

The actual story itself has a lovely flow and meter to it. Perfect for the last bedtime story before sleep. Each page also features a cute fact about the animal on the page. For example, the flying squirrel fact indicates that they don't fly but glide between trees by putting their arms and legs out. Again, I think, these are the kinds of things that kids will latch onto and love.
A solid choice for a bedtime story for any child. Animals are universal and the illustrations of the baby animals are adorable.

Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.

Children are naturally curious and this book is a wonderful chance at a bonding experience with them especially after a visit to the zoo when the sights of so many animals are fresh in their minds.
Gives children the comfort and reassurance that parents, even animal parents are there for their young and will nurture them. Brilliantly illustrated for a better understanding of the materials you and your child or grandchild will read this one time and again.

This was a perfect book to read to my granddaughter who loves animals. Each page has a different parent and baby animal, showing where they live. Each beautiful picture is accompanied by a short poem as well as a short fact about either the animal's habits or their home. The animals were varied, from different locations as well as different species. This is a perfect book to read with a child to help further their love of animals and nature. It is also a beautiful story to share the love of parent and offspring, no matter what species you are from. I read this to my granddaughter and then read it again to both her and her older brother. He also liked the story and the facts about the animals. He also shared some facts that he knew as well. A great book for any library, whether family, public or school.

Such a sweet story! Great illustrations that are very realistic, and the choice of animal families is unique and informative. I loved the little fun facts about every animal featured, and I learned several things I hadn’t known before!

This is an adorable picture book showcasing a variety of species nurturing their offspring. Each page spread includes a gorgeous new image with a parent and young animal along with a factoid about their kind. For example: Flying squirrels don’t actually fly, but glide from tree to tree with their arms and legs outstretched. The pages document all types of life from land dwelling animals, to birds, to sea creatures. The beautiful illustrations provide soft, soothing colors with scenes in daylight, at nighttime, in the snow, and even underwater. The final page concludes with what appears to be a human father and son and the sentiment of always having a home with a loving parent. This is a very sweet book that would make a comforting read, including right before bedtime for younger children who need reassurance of being safe and loved. Thanks to Netgalley, Sasquatch Books, Sarah Asper-Smith, and Mitchell Watley for providing me with an e-ARC for review. This title releases November 12, 2019.

What a sweet book. This is perfect for children of all ages—especially those who are interested in the animal world. The artwork is beautiful. I feel like this kind of illustration is seldom seen today. It reminds me of a personal favorite: Sheila McGraw (and Robert Munsch’s) I Love You Forever. This book strikes me as an instant classic. And I love the animals included!

Simple description of love through animals and the way they show love. Each page is a new animal saying "If you were a (BLANK) I would....". Along with the story there are little facts about each animal which is a fun addition to the descriptions in the text. The author did very well at incorporating facts about the animal into the story to further educate the reader. The illustrations are realistic and factual to what the animals look like instead of a more cartoon like rendering.
With all that said is was a short, sweet little book that I would read to my son.

You Are Home with Me is an absolutely lovely children’s book that highlights the sense of belonging between parent and child. The book features a variety of animals (polar bear, blue whale, tundra swan, gray wolf, etc.) and shows where the animals live. Most importantly, it emphasizes that the parent and child always belong together—whether in the Arctic tundra, the mountains, the forest, or the depths of the ocean. The illustrations are beautifully done and make the book worth buying—fortunately, the words on each page are just as wonderful. Children will love having this book read aloud to them, and parents will enjoy it, too!

What a lovely story! I think littles and their parents will enjoy reading about all the different animals and their homes. The art work is beautiful and I am sure it will look even more amazing in color.

I like the concept of this book but I don't think it was carried out very well. The author jumped right into the animal piece without giving any context to the idea of the story and it felt disjointed. I think this could be a cute book that children would enjoy with a little more finesse.

This is a lovely book that provides a lot of great information about animal habitats. I really like that there are animals mixed in that your don't often see in the usual animal book fare. The illustrations are very clear and bold.

You Are Home With Me is a small, tender book about the love of parents for the children, which helps children feel more secure in the love of their parents. Along the way, the children learn some very interesting things about the animal kingdom and how various animals care for and protect their young ones. The story is accompanied by interesting facts for young ones to learn, as well as beautiful illustrations. This is definitely a recommended read for young children.

This is the perfect book for younger, pre-school aged children. It uses their innate security of a mother to teach them about animals and how they live together. The book is a fantastic teaching tool for different animals and their habits. I would purchase it for the young children in my life.

A nice introduction to various animal homes. . Kind of like a mommy and me book with a small nonfiction blurb of each animal. Appropriate for Pre-K-2nd grade. The book also shows the animals habitat. The illustrations and text both have a dreamy quality. That along with the repetitive text would encourage rereading.

Cute little story for little ones. Great illustrations that let little ones know how Animal parents take care of their young. Also includes facts about each animal featured. Would recommend for snuggle time with parents.

Realistic illustrations bring this book to life. A sweet tale of animal families and the places they live, each page also includes a fun fact about the animal shown. But it is the pictures that really stands out for me here - they are just beautiful! This would make a great bedtime (or anytime!) story!

This book showcases gorgeous images of animals and their habitats as well as facts about the animals. In bold text is is a tale about different animals and where they live with their parents and in a smaller font each spread has a fact about the animals as well.

This is another wonderful and educational book for parents of animal loves, the images are so pretty and details. I love seeing the animals in their natural surroundings in these images. The facts were interesting and I learned a lot as will younger readers. The book indicates that is it suitable for ages 3-7, I think that the older end of that range will appreciate this more that the younger ones, but it is a beautiful book and sentiment to read to your child.

Review will be live on Nov 8, 2019 on the Blog.
