I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a lovely book! It, admittedly, took time for me to get into hut once I did, I couldnt stop. A wonderfully clean, sweet romance. I will definitely read this author again. She has a wonderful way of writing and I love both William and Marion. 4 stars.

(4 stars) - A refreshing Regency romance

Marion is a heroine I could readily relate to - she doesn't like William, but finds him different than she thought. William is a bit adrift. He likes Marion, but finds her confusing.

For different reasons, the two end up together in an engagement destined for a marriage of convenience. Still, there are seeds sprouting there for a love match to develop if they can just protect them from getting squashed.

I really enjoyed this story. The dialogue between the characters is often witty & quite amusing. One of the aspects that I very much appreciated was that events were not dependent on how far into the story we were. Several times things would be setting up for a typical misunderstanding or miscommunication where the author surprised me with a different, less usual outcome.

I'm not convinced that the final conflict in the story could have happened so easily. And the way everything worked out at the end felt too... convenient? Don't get me wrong - I love fairytales & want those happily-ever-afters - but things need to be believable enough to keep my skeptic from putting a damper on my warm glow.

Still, as a debut novel, it's impressive, & I will be eagerly following her work.

Clean romance level: sweet kisses

I was immediately taken in by the beautiful cover of Love in Disguise and enjoyed the plot of the book. Marion Watt has agreed to a season to please her parents; however, her first season does not go well, partly to do with Lord William Everton and unfortunate mistakes in a piano recital, for which she has never forgiven him. It is only when William proposes marriage during her second season, that she reluctantly agrees, fearing for her mother’s health.
Whilst I enjoyed the story, I found myself at times confounded by both Marion and William. I so thoroughly wished that they could both be agreeable to the other at the same time. However, in many ways, their ever-changing feelings throughout their tenuous relationship, made for an interesting read. This was a well-written story, in keeping with the expectations of the time period. I enjoyed the secondary characters who added to the depth of the novel.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Anneka Walker has written an enchanting regency romance. William and Marion’s journey to falling in love is one I couldn’t put down. The premise is clever and keeps your attention. Marion has always wanted a love match but when her mother falls ill she try’s to keep an open mind. William is a highly sought after bachelor that isn’t necessarily wanting to get married but is doing so to please his parents. He comes up with a scheme to find the right woman for him. The only problem is the right woman can’t stand him. I loved watching their relationship grow and develop through the trials and troubles that get thrown their way. Overall a very enjoyable and clean romance with a cast of well developed characters.
