How exciting to read "Holy Harry's" story and to learn more about the vicar in the family. Mater is a saint, as raising this group of spirited young men probably wasn't easy. However, they are so likable and I adore each one for their individuality and personality.

Harry kind of fell into being a vicar and isn't confident or content in his abilities. When his childhood crush comes back to England from America, his life is turned upside down. Sarah is such a sweet and charming girl, placed in a very terrible situation.

I loved everything about this brood. They are so welcoming to those around them and take them in to become one of them with no questions asked. I completely enjoyed seeing each brother and the other wives and children. So much charm, laughter, and growth.

But the real love in this book is for Harry and Sarah. Their lovely interactions, support for one another, and tender romance is just divine.

The heart and soul of this story was engaging and oh, so sweet! I'll never get enough of the Jonquils.

Content: mild romance; very mild religion

Why did it take me so long to read this book? Or listen - the audiobook was great!

Like all of SME books, this was another great book! We’ve heard all about Holy Harry throughout the Jonquil series. But there is more to him than being a vicar. He forgot some of what that was, and others he hid away thinking it wasn’t becoming of a vicar. It was great seeing Harry become comfortable in his own skin around all his brothers and ever expanding family. His brothers may tease him but they know that when it comes to it - Harry is dependable and family is everything.

Sarah has some misgivings about returning to England from America. She lost her heart her and it broke too. But she’s determined to help her brother and like any American - she’s overly confident, has grit and helps where she can. Hard on the outside and soft on the inside. I love how she waged a battle of vicars with Harry. And the lifting contest at the fair 😂

This book has so much heart and emotion! SME excels at her character development and multitasking with the ongoing family story arc but letting the main characters shine amidst the large personalities of family members. I still love Flip 😍 and I can’t wait for Charlie’s story!! Sarah has laid SO much groundwork for this mash up of Lancaster + Jonquil families joining at last.

Oh, how I love the Jonquils! I admit I was wondering if I would like a book about Holy Harry but it was such a delight! The things we learn about Harry in this book surprised me, in a good way! Harry and Sarah's story is a great read. If you haven't read this series yet, do yourself a favor and start way back at the beginning and settle in for some cozy, fun romance!

I love this series from Sarah! It is a favorite and I always enjoy the books. Highly recommend them and the best part is now I can reread and enjoy all of the books together.

Young love is all too fleeting, as Harold Jonquil painfully discovered years ago when Sarah Sarvol, the niece of a neighbouring landowner, captured his heart. After an idyllic few weeks in the throes of blossoming love, reality intervened. They could have no future & there was a disastrous parting. Now, years later, he has achieved his lifelong aspiration of becoming the local vicar. When Sarah’s ailing uncle summons her back to the family estate in England, there is only one person from her past she is reluctant to see again: Harold Jonquil, the only man who has ever claimed her heart. But when she comes face-to-face with her former beau, she hardly recognizes the aloof and dull man before her.
This is the sixth book in the series, it could be read on its own but to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading in order as the series is so very good. Harold Jonquil is the second youngest of seven brothers. A lovely second chance romance that had me engrossed from cover to cover. Very well written, as are all the author’s books, it flowed effortlessly, the characters had plenty of depth & were likeable.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This book was exactly what it said on the tin - a historical romance between two people torn apart initially by social differences and perceived obligations who find their way back to each other. Nothing outstanding, but a solid 3-star read.

Finally! We get Holy Harry’s book! And it turns out, he’s not really as snotty and sanctimonious as his brothers treat him. In fact, all of that aloof behavior of his really masks a great deal of insecurity on his part. I can relate to a lot of Harold’s misgivings, but at least I don’t have to be on display constantly in a very small community.

Sarah, for her part, is all kinds of perfect for Harry. But I didn’t think she was at the beginning. She slowly grew on me, which was great.

I love regency novels. This was no disappointment.

Harold Jonquil fell in love with a neighbor's American niece when he was younger- disastrous it was. When they are reacquainted, years later, they find very different people, but the feelings reignite again.

I have not read any of the other books, but I will be going back and reading all 5 of them!

It was a very sweet read, the characters were very endearing. I definitely recommend this book to regency lovers.

4/5 stars

This book is heartfelt and wonderful, like the rest of the Jonquil brothers books. I love reading about the unwilling vicar climbing his very old house for fun without anyone knowing. Both main characters are intriguing and the book is easy to read quickly.

Another sweet, charming, fun and heartwarming romance from Sarah M. Eden.
I love her stories, and especially ehr characters, which are deep and complex, but can also be lighthearted as well. Sarah M. Eden has an exquisite sense of humor that always transpires in her stories. I also love that each of the Jonquil family members has their own story and it’s always charming to revisit some of my favorite characters, which are practically all of them. A unique and diverse family in every sense, that’s for sure!
Harold and Sarah were once fleetingly and ferevently in love when they were young and naive. But they later realized their love couldn’t be. After a painful parting, none of them will be able to forget each other.
Many years later Harold (called Holly Harry in previous stories) fulfills his dream of becoming the local vicar, but he never expected the role to be as difficult as it seems now. He feels lonely and uninspired, until Sarah arrives in town, summoned by her ailing uncle in England, and his life turns upside down. Sarah feared meeting Harold again, but when he does, she never expects to find this cold and dull man, the shell of the man she fell in love with. She can’t help but feel the need to challenge him and try to bring ack the passionate and sweet man he used to be. Can their newfound relationship stand a second chance?
I totally loved this. I laughed, swooned and cried! Harry and Sarah’s reaquaintance was the best. Not easy at first, many grudges to overcome, but as it grew deeper, it proved they were made for each other because they really brought the best out of each other. I loved Sarah’s patience with him, and the romance was just so sweet. I loved that the plot never dragged, their interactions made it all so engaging, including the all the now secondary characters of this endearing family.
I definitely recommend it. It could be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend you to get to know the Jonquils in order. So much richer! This is a must read!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book by the Publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest and unbiased review.

I knew the Holy Harry had great depth that we just didn't know about. I adored another of the Jonquil brothers series. Sarah Eden is a gifted author.

I love revisiting these characters and have enjoyed the other books in this series that I’ve had a chance to read. One element I don’t see in Sarah’s work is melodrama or an overly sentimental writing voice. She writes historicals (genre), but without elements that keep readers at a distance from her characters’ true emotions. You feel along with them, and you aren’t bombarded with clichés and overly dramatic emotional descriptions. I believe there can be deep emotions in fiction, but as a reader, I value when the author presents them in a way that allows readers to feel them. Sarah’s work does that.
Her vicar character is such an interesting hero. He doesn’t see his value. He isn’t even sure about who he is. While’s he’s trying to be what he thinks he’s supposed to be, he’s failing and suffering. His coping mechanism for all the rejection and searching in his life is climbing. Loved this trait. He’s also an introvert who becomes overwhelmed by people. So many of his traits were relatable.
He’s noble, but like an eagle, he can’t see his own strength.
One element I thought was conspicuously absent, especially for a vicar, was a God aspect. It would have been very satisfying to see God brought into this vicar’s character arc and have him find his way via a true relationship with God. Instead, he is told to have faith in himself. That was unfortunate. There was a passage about peace in the church building and about helping people, but nothing about Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Perhaps this was a publisher’s choice or perhaps this was in keeping with Anglican vicars during that era—a distance from the God they seemed to serve.
The heroine only wants to belong. She is an outcast in her own home. But the Jonquils make her feel welcome. I loved their involvement in this story, how they brought warmth and hope to a despairing situation.
People around the hero, including himself, condemned things about him that weren’t condemnable. How often do we do that? Play the part we think we should, condemn the things/people God does not? Harold’s growth arc was interesting to watch, including how people around him treated him differently when he began to see himself differently.
Highly recommended!

I do love a good romance novel and having read Sarah M Eden before I was keen to read this without realising it was part of a series. Normally I'd never jump in without reading them all in order, but I was a good few chapters in when I realised and I couldn't bring myself to stop reading it at that point! This is a lovely gentle romance between old flames. It might be a bit predictable but that is part of it's charm. The only drawback with not reading the rest of the series first was that I missed some of the characters being introduced and it was clear there is backstory missing. Despite that the author gives enough information that you can still thoroughly enjoy the story, and the earlier novels are now firmly on my to read list. Thank you for giving me the chance to read the book.

Romance, clean; period; series, but stand alone read
While this is the most recent of the books in this series, it can be read as a stand-alone read. If you don't want spoilers, you should read the other books first, but you can read this without reading the others first.
Harold and Sarah's past buried in both of their hearts, come back to the forefront of their present when Sarah returns to England from America. As Harold struggles with his calling and responsibilities as a vicar, and trying to find his heart and his place in his community and his family, Sarah prods, prompts, and encourages, and stretches Harold in his life, job, and his understanding. Sarah and her brother Scott, struggling to live with their callous, angry, heartless, cruel Uncle. Sarah and Scott struggle to make the best of their situation, they are pulled back into the Jonquil family circle.
Gorgeous, heartfelt, novel. Not just a romance, it is a novel of Harry's self-awareness and struggle to find his place as a vicar, and as part of his large family dynamic. Side stories (Phillip and Sorrel's) along with the other family members with cameo appearances supported making this a wonderful read. Natural, honest, romantic, and lovely read. Can't wait to read Charlie's story!

This is the first book I have read in this series and I loved it. I must now go back and start with the first book. I enjoyed reading Harold’s story. The author has created a wonderfully crafted tale.

This author writes such wonderful characters, beautiful love stories, and the best happy endings. I enjoyed reading this story and love every continuation of the Jonquil story. I also really appreciate how every book you read that brings in her previous book characters gives you another glimpse, a different view into their well written characters. The story is deep and sweet, it’s clean and thoroughly enjoyable! I loved it and highly recommend it.

How have I missed the books by Sarah Eden about the Jonquil family? I absolutely loved this book and look forward to going back and reading the others in this series. I admit that the first couple of chapters made me wonder if I wanted to continue on reading this book. But then Sarah Sarvol entered the story, and all of a sudden everything came to life. I adored Sarah and her positive attitude towards life, even when things seemed at the absolute worse. I loved seeing her effect on Harold and helping him become the person he was always meant to be. The rest of the Jonquil family were entertaining and delightful . This book also has one of the best “rescue” scenes ever. It’s witty, charming, and romantic. This is a clean and sweet book that Regency fans will love.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I have looked forward to Holy Harry’s book for far too long, and it did not disappoint. Not only was the history of rock climbing fascinating, but making Harry a rock climber just fit so well. However I would have never thought, oh I bet Harold Jonquil likes to climb things. That sounds ridiculous. Which is why Sarah Eden is such a phenomenal writer.

From the first few pages of the book every preconceived notion I had about Harry were cracked in two. Then, the more I learned about him, the more I loved him and rooted for him to become the man both Sarahs new him to be.

This story is not just a beautiful character journey. Harold’s journey was enveloped in a tender second chance romance. As well as complex family dynamics that draw you further and further into the arms of the Jonquil family. This may have been my favorite Jonquil book yet.

The Heart of a Vicar is classic Eden Regency. It has her hallmarks of the period, humor, and endearing characters created with exactingly realistic detail. At times the inner workings of these people were drawn with such heartbreaking accuracy I had to set the book aside to catch my breath and let my heart heal a bit before I could read on. The challenges of life roll forward and the characters march along doing their best to work though them. But, Eden always gives us hope. . .and a story to savor.
