I couldn't read this book straight through. It required small samplings, spread over time, and some parts were more interesting than others. I previously knew nothing about Alasdair Gray, though, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

I didn't enjoy this one, as it had a lot of typos and seemed to drag on at the end. Others may enjoy it, but I just had a hard time getting into it.

Of Me and Others is a memoir in essays in which we learn about the writer and his influences. His prose is lyrical and I especially enjoyed his shout outs to other writers who he feels haven’t gotten their due. There is a bit of political manefesto to some of the pieces as well making this a great chronicle of both the writer and his times.
