So much about this book and message inside of it that I'm getting a little mired in. But the characters are phenomenal and I loved the dad and Nikki. But the stars of this one certainly are Heather and Rick and when he hires her to look for his friend that paid him a visit while he was away neither realizes the importance of that one decision. It becomes clear very early on though that there is something much bigger at work here.

As the job progresses though it becomes dangerous and Heather is determined to not only get to the truth but to also not be too late this time and to follow her intuition.

Rick decides this job and the answers are not worth risking her safety, although that might be taken out of his hands.

Read this book and see if they can solve this puzzle before it's too late. It will keep you entertained the entire way through.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the last book in the Code Of Honor series by Irene Hannon. I have enjoyed this series and I will miss the Tree House gang. This is a very well written romantic suspense and I really liked all of the characters

The Code of Honor series ends with this latest book. Readers will enjoy mystery and suspense as Treehouse gang member Rick sets out to find a missing friend. Heather, an investigator with Phoenix Inc. is hired to help and the search begins. Many twists and turns keeps readers guessing to the surprising end. I loved that the outcome of the mystery was not obvious. The characters in this series were so personable. Highly recommended!

'He might never have needed a gun in the four years he'd called this rural Missouri acreage home, but it was better to risk overkill than be killed.'

I never miss an Irene Hannon book. She writes two each year and I've always got them on my list of books to read. She is quite skilled at her psychological suspense novels and she keeps the reader guessing throughout.

Former Army Night Stalker Rick Jordan, now running a camp for foster kids, finds blood on his property one evening and evidence that someone has broken into a shed. He needs to find out what has happened to a former Army buddy who saved his life and so he hires Phoenix Inc., an elite group of private investigators. He is given as an investigator Heather Shields, former police detective, who is eager to take his case. Together, they discover that someone is willing to kill, not just once, to keep them from finding the truth and Rick's buddy. All the while they must keep their attraction from one another on the back burner.

Hannon creates intrigue with a good dose of romance to keep her readers coming back for more. She never disappoints with her ability to start a bit slow, though very interesting, then builds layer upon layer as the story progresses, until finally the book is racing toward a surprising, yet satisfying conclusion. I never manage to guess the culprit, either. That's the mark of a good suspense writer. I enjoyed every minute, staying up late to finish the book. Highly recommended.

Rick Jordan is a former Army Night Stalker who is a rescue pilot and runs a kids camp for foster kids in the summer. Heather Shields is a former police officer turned PI that Rick hires to help him find a former Army colleague who has turned up missing. Two things happen right off the bat. Each one has immediate attraction to the other and the whole investigation gets more complicated. I love novels about police officers, private investigators, special forces, FBI, CIA, etc., so this one provided a lot of entertainment for me I had to do one of those continuous reads because I couldn’t put it down and there were all sorts of interesting characters and plot twists. I always enjoy book by this author. She is a master at her craft.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion
