Can't wait for the whole book! This was just an excerpt. The Bachelor has a war hero protecting an heiress. She has a blackmailer and she's in London to navigate the ton and have her debut. They are the perfect pair. Just because someone has a title doesn't make them a good person.

I really enjoyed a great many things about this book. Characters were fleshed out and the plot was well spaced. Some of the secondary storylines could've used a bit more page space but all in all an enjoyable read!

<<< First chapter review - not whole book >>>

After reading the first book in the Duke Dynasty (Project Duchess) I was stoked to continue reading about this fascinating family!

I received a first chapter teaser and it definitely did that! I had forgotten it wasn’t the whole book and got myself quite engrossed in the story by the end of the first chapter! If I had had the whole book,, I could have read late into the night… oh well! Absence makes the heart grow fonder and I will eagerly be awaiting The Bachalor’s February 2020 release!

Chapter synopsis: Heiress Lady Gwyn Drake is keeping a secret from her family, one that has left her unmarried at the ripe age of 30. All is going well until her family decides to give her a. London season… Just when she thinks that is enough of to contend with at the moment, her former suiters and her secret come out of the woodwork with an eye to blackmail Lady Gwen! Thankfully the handsome and illusive gamekeeper is nearby to come to her rescue when Lady Gwen’s blackmailer gets mad at her… she is safe, but now gamekeeper Joshua Wolfe insists on tell her brother about the encounter… this will only make it harder for Gwen to appease her blackmailer when she arrives in London …

Wow! That was an exciting chapter… I can’t wait to see hoe Lady Gwen fairs and how things evolve his the hansom gamekeeper, Mr. Wolfe.

The Bachelor by Sabrina Jeffries is scheduled to release February 25, 2020.

I received a complimentary copy of this first chapter from Kensington Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Had I known this was only an excerpt, I would have read it right away!

Length aside, I’m really intrigued by the story. I liked the idea of beginning with blackmail, and the chemistry between Gwyn and Joshua seems strong.

Only got the first chapter. Was interesting and would love to read the rest. Everything was set up in the first chapter, the problem and the solution with the help of a interesting character.

This is only the first chapter, so I can't critique the story, but it sounds like it's going to be great!!

This is an excerpt so it is hard to know. The first chapter sounds interesting. Heroine is being blackmailed over an affair she had and hid from everyone.

14 Nov 2019: Thoughts on single chapter preview of THE BACHELOR by Sabrina Jeffries

I've been languishing—seemingly for *months*—in hold limbo for PROJECT DUCHESS, book #1 in Duke Dynasty series. To maintain interest, I decided to take peek at preview ARC of book #2, THE BACHELOR.

I thought that the newspaper article & opening chapter were really well-written, both technically & creatively. In just a few pages, lots of background info conveyed to the reader, refreshing memories of those who read #1 & establishing basic foundation for those who haven't.

And story opens w/ h being blackmailed! Immediate interest caught as to who, how & why. From bits revealed, easy enough to guess at basis for blackmail, but will have to wait for actual book for confirmation. Felt pistol use encroached upon TSTL territory, but that's just me & weapons :)

After reading the preview, I'm left w/ 2 basic Qs (due to h being 30yo) & itch to read rest of THE BACHELOR. Pls excuse me as I check *again* on hold status for PROJECT DUCHESS.

Oh, right—in case I forget or email goes astray, would love to get actual ARC for THE BACHELOR. Thx again!

The excerpt is long enough to give an idea to the reader as to how the rest of the book will be. Personally I ended up thinking that the book would be for me, even though I love Sabrina Jeffries books. For the begging of a story, I found it good enough.

The second story in this series is as fascinating as the first. Sabrina Jeffries write about strong women who knows their minds and pursues their goals relentlessly. Gwyn knows what she wants is Major Wolfe and sets out to snag him.as danger lurks he comes to her rescue and find she suits him just fine.

I didn't realize this was just an excerpt when I requested it -- and that was a big disappointment to me. I was already sold on reading the book, but this 'teaser' certainly confirmed my desire to read the book.

I am so looking forward to the continuation of this series. In this sneek peak of the first chapter, Lady Gwyn Drake agrees to meet with Captain L. Malet, whom she was captivated with during her youth. He threatens blackmail, unless she pays him fifty guineas; however, Gwyn is determined not to agree to his demands. Yet when he steals the pistol of her brother, the Duke of Thornstock, she is relieved to find Major Wolfe, by her side.

Joshua Wolfe, works as the estate's gamekeeper, yet as the brother-in-law to Thornstock, he is almost family. Gwyn is obviously attracted to Major Wolfe, and it seems that this romance will be an interesting one.

Can't wait until its publication!

I received an ARC of chapter 1, from NetGalley, to review.
