I took some time to get into Worship of Hollow Gods and nearly gave it up a couple of times, but I'm glad I stuck it out as it got interesting and I got invested in the characters as the book went on. The majority of the book happened one Friday night at a weekly family gathering from the point of view of 9 year old Jim. We learn about the women and we learn about The Brothers and we get flash backs into some of the families lives. A great portrayal of family dynamics and the difficulties of that era.
